I think he may need GBI to prevent getting cucked out of his 5th skill, because if you get cancelled out of that or his 4th skill then you're fucked because they're his only means of survivability and the damage proc has to trigger on his 5th skill to really count for anything.
I've pretty much only ever played him with GBI so I can't say for sure but I think he does need it, especially if you want to use him to solo rumbles where there's a lot going on and the chance to get hit is quite high, especially with SL enemies' crazy high attack speed.
But I agree that he doesn't need inv.

I think dragon + thunder is possible if you can chain it all during your immune to damage obelisk.
That was my third time and you can clear the entire fight just by running around

I unironcially think her T2 is a godsend. Her Ignore Dodge to the entire team is a godsend against Spidey and she can occasionally beat Strange if he doesn't spam his healing skill
