Is there something wrong with my deck or what, apart from lack of offensive options? I've used same variant but with weather/mages, Baron and Drought instead of Dandelion and Djikstra for a while, too, but got fed up with shitty mulligan so I stripped it to minimum.

I've been hanging around 3500-3900 MMR ever since they've reworked how MMR is awarded, risen to my place in one day then just started stalling in place. It must've been what, month? And I still can't reach 4k. Sometimes I'm lucky and this deck plays out really well, sometimes I get stomped on by Skellige axemen netdecks. Games against consume monsters are most enjoyable for me, especially when I had weather in my deck. But Nilf's sweers/pikemen and Skellige's axemen really fuck me up.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure.
It means you need to have something else to play.
For example, you are playing against a swarm deck, so you play Vanhemar. With old Emhyr, you can replay Van next turn for another 12 points.

With the new one, you play your mage, then you play Emhyr, which makes you play something else, and then you can play Vanhemar again.

I think this version leaves more open to passing, among other things.

I can bet 100 kegs for the fact that none of you people who netdeck, browse GwentDB and take pressure about ranked are actually having fun with the game. You may think you do but in reality playing for you is merely a mental struggle about feeling like you are good at something, even when that something would be a deck and RNG-based card game.

Just to add a bit more info I've been playing a mix of Radovid Epidemic and Henselt armour and literally sat at 4k for weeks. Tried some Dagon/Eredin. I can get to around 4050 before I hit a massive losing streak. Discard is pretty good but it falls flat in the end, I use the non QG version. Truly hate NG and SC, tried pumpkin scorch and Ciri Dash thinning but it just didn't work for me

Many people do use guides though, otherwise they wouldn't be so popular. The comparison still makes no sense though, because this is a multiplayer game, so having some understanding of what people are playing before plunging in blind helps a lot, and its hard having fun when your baby brew is demolished because it doesn't a lot of experimentation behind it.

And yeah, sure, you can have fun trying to create your deck from scratch, but card games are deep enough that they are never actually "solved". So netdecking to get a good idea of a base deck and then changing a card or another to try to find a sweet spot for yourself is also challenging and gives a sense of satisfaction as well.

People that only copy a deck and play it mindlessly are absolutely cancer. But any idiot understands that searching around for ideas in other decks and looking at what already works in the current meta is essential to have any chance at all in the higher ranks.

If you wish to become the Gwent champion and win money then yes, you must know the decks of the fellow tournament players. You can learn what works in the meta simply by playing and meeting other decks (and experimenting with different decks yourself). Reached 4250 without netdecks here.

You wouldn't seriously argue that chess players should never learn standard openings and plays and try to learn to play the game from scratch themselves. See, it is a quite different thing to learn the basics of chess, a skill-based game, compared to Gwent, a card game where the result is mostly determined by luck and the deck you and your opponent play.

The opening moves in chess are such a tiny fraction of the whole thought process that is involved in actually playing the game that learning them determines very little how the games will go. In build and deck based games, on the other hand, you are more or less a mindless automaton when playing another person's build/deck. I can respect chess players who want to learn the basics, but not netdeckers.
