If you're farming match score epeen, you also get bigger numbers for solo-meching the match vs. two-three-four because it doesn't divide the results between multiple robots if none of them are ejected/killed.

MRMs were always a saturation weapon in TT, too- so you get lots of damage but not much of it goes to any one spot.

On the other hand, it's stupidly easy to chuck 60 MRMs at a target. Kills slower per missile than even LRM fire, but you're putting a lot more missiles in the target's direction so it somewhat makes up for it.

Still, it's spread damage. You will never kill fast with MRMs.

Just had a weird game, but for once RNGesus blessed me.

Two heavies on each team, 4 mediums and six lights.

On the other hand, I'd just put a TAG-streakboat together for the event.

One 12-7 win later (nomnomnom enemy light horde, we had a 5-1 lead at one point), I could go back to killing things like a civilized person because 2 TAG kills and done.

The problem is they get worse in packs. It only takes one getting on your back long enough to peel the armor off to ruin things in about two seconds, tops.

Also, not much danger early on, but the second you get to having your armor stripped...again, a few seconds of exposure and you won't have much left in that section.

I'm not a very good light pilot, so I've only been using mine as a fourth drop in FP.

If I end up dropping in my fourth mech, the match is either already lost and I'm just trying to squeeze an extra kill or two in off beat up mechs before it's over, or victory is imminent anyway.

Linebacker is pretty good. It's fast for a heavy, but it's also a little light on free weight.

If you like pod set quirks, you can go for the C, which is ideal for my favorite setup, 6MPL + 2(or 3)LMGs. If you like ERPPCs, the Prime is alright for that, but you would have to break the pod set bonus if you want them on high mounts for hill peeking, at which point any variant will work fine. They can also do 6SRM6 quite well, which again requires pod set to be broken so the base doesn't really matter.

In the case that you don't care about pod sets, I'd suggest getting the B or D due to slightly better twist angles than the rest.

Just in time, since I was starting to really need more empty bays. Now I need some mechs to work towards filling my new bays with. I especially need some fun IS mechs that have a decent variety of build options and/or can make good use of nutech. I'm still relatively satisfied with what it is since most of the streamlining changes I'm okay with. Megamek is what I'd use if I want to play regular old BT online.

There is something to be had about games which balance themselves around enemies being dumb and weak so that they can throw dozens of them at your small elite team. Those missions in MC1 where you capture and defend some buildings with the ludicrous amount of enemy reinforcements wouldn't work if they were all strong.

As an aside, anyone else with the Beta able to remember if pepsi Awesomes were running this cool? I don't remember it generating so little heat in the last patch, but it sure makes it work more like the genuine CBT Awesome. Battlemaster still shafted because it can't punch and fire lasers at the same time, which is what it was designed to do.

Ideally, you chase him around,shoot at his targets. "Names" make great distractions because everyone wants to kill them, so as long as he's alive and being shot at, you tend to have much freer range.

Lucky me, the last time he was on the other side and I blew half his robot out because he walked right into a dumbfired ATM salvo.

QP queue right now is so ded the matchmaker piles all the decent players on one team and fills the other with top spuds. I know, because I either end up the one competent guy or we kill them. Not really. You're barely going over 60kph with speed tweaks, so being a total close-combat whore isn't going to do your Hightarget much good. Worse, they have the absolute least effective jump jets so it's not worth spending the 8 tons in the first place to get hoverjets barely capable of hopping a low hill or building. MWO breaking JJs means anything past 85 tons isn't getting shit for their tonnage these days. It's what makes the chassis so crappy nowadays.

Stop wasting 8 tons on skipping pebbles and this way you've actually got some reach, plus a dead side to absorb some damage once the RLs are launched.

The only reason the Assassin is better than the Viper is hitboxes and health quirks. The Viper is nowhere near shit and brings a great loadout. The gap between it and the Assassin isn't very large and they are both some of the best 'lights' in the game at the moment.

Clan lights and pseudo-lights like the Ferret don't need much podspace, because the weapons they want to use, ERSLs and SPLs, weigh almost nothing. The IFR has extra dubs already even. 6SPL would run very cool on it compared to the Cheetah. If it had double the hardpoints and could run something super memey like 12ERSLs or micropulse or whatever you better believe you'd see them all over the place.

Tonnage doesn't limit either of those mechs. I don't know what builds you would want to run on them that you can't outside of something like max SRM, which they don't have the hardpoints to do. Well, the IFR could bring 4SRM6 with a pathetic amount of ammo, but compared to what could have been with 6 pre-nerf SPL it wouldn't have been used.

Infighting, for starters. All the Clans are not only trying to invade, but also grow the biggest MUH HONOR EPEEN to prove themselves worthy of succeeding the Cameron line to rule humanity. This drive to show off often suckers Clanners into facing technologically inferior but more numerical opposition and getting swarmed under in the process, usually by overbidding themselves.

After the Truce, it gave them enough time to start bickering and pissing again with each other, and except for the Ghost Bears, they didn't exactly do well with their conquered worlds at first. This meant eventually things ground mostly to a halt, and at one point, the IS even manages to get all the way to the Clan worlds via a traitor and BTFO's Clan Smoke Jaguar for good, obliterating the entire Clan and basically waving their own Star League flag back at the Clanners (who are descended from League military exiles).

Without unity, they eventually end up higher tech but lower-population factions in the Inner Sphere, especially after the infighting at "home" leads to the Wars of Reaving and massive purges of the remaining homeworld Clans.

The Warrior caste nominally has absolute control over all state affairs but they rely a lot on the scientist and engineering castes to keep their war machines running AND to breed the next generation of warriors. Generations of engaging in highly ritualized combat that is designed to preserve resources has made them very complacent and bad at the whole "total war" thing. Then it doesn't help that the jaded scientists overseeing the test tube babies are given a lot of trust and free reign to select for warriors who are dumb in the exact ways you are thinking about.

Most of the time a single Clan mech will get wiped on the tabletop if the IS player is actually given 4 mechs, it is more likely to be a 2-1 matchup. Board space is often too small for a Clan player to play keep away and whittle down 4 low tech shitmechs especially since those shitmechs can punch and kick just as good as modern ones. The only reason why they pushed as far as they did into the Inner Sphere is because many of these battles were in favor of the Clans (not 2-1 outnumbered) and the defenses of the Houses are the thinnest at the interstellar frontiers.

Once the Houses and Comstar got their shit together and brought out their Lostech stuff, the battles were no longer lopsided and the Clans were doomed to lose a war of attrition. They got off lucky because it DIDN'T end up that way; they were crushed decisively in the final battles without the use of strategic weapons and their losses were technically minimized. Even then, all the fresh inexperienced pilots that participated in those final fights were still good enough to gain some victories against the most battle hardened IS ones.

tldr Clan gunnery and piloting is better, but their planning and strategy sucks donkey balls

Melee and weapons other than small lasers and MGs don't mix. Melee is a separate action in Nu-BT, executed at the same time as movement and ends your turn. The Battlemaster has always been a hot mech, but with the way the mech currently works you fire weapons one or two turns and then cool off by using melee for the next one or two turns. Is there anything good I can do with my BNC-3M utilizing nutech? I've barely touched it since the update, and haven't messed with the loadout at all. I like my current build enough that I could just swap all the MLs for ERMLs so that they sync better with the LPLs. I'm also kinda tempted to try loading it up with nothing but LPPCs and seeing how that goes. Other than that I'm not sure what else might be worth trying.
