Do either of them browse /cm/?

The whole point of the cull was to get rid of filler teams whose boards didn't have enough interest to prove it themselves. Boards got axed because of it. Now, /cm/ gets a free pass because lmao Lear says so? It's bad enough he's making /trv/'s export, he's going to do /cm/'s polls now? It's a farce.

Aesco made up of exactly the same guys except slightly harder for new managers to contact and with DF as part of it. And is still going to be defacto official because if neither Shakes or Ramen are around to submit aesthetics they're not going to reject someone like Sappho submitting them even if he isn't official.

So all that has happened is that aesco is harder for new people to contact to ask for/learn to make new models. But this is apparently fine because Noteperson has made /aesco/ obsolete.

How am I being dramatic? Point out one place where I am wrong in that post.

Aesco discord is no longer on the wiki so Aesco is harder to contact for new people.
Aesco defacto still exists in an official capacity because if Shakes and Ramen aren't around the streamer is still going to accept the cpks from another aesco person.
Df is now part of aesco.

>>
>>186761940
Well it's not the first time horsefuckers caused/amplified drama. Or that DF related things were noticed by merit rather later.
That DF made aesthetics and showed interest in doing aesthetics for /cm/ has been known for months. He was open about it and nobody said anything back then. Stances just keep changing, at one time DF is invited to IRC for discussing rule changes and then people demand that everything he touched gets burned. There isn't really any consistency. Reason for that could be that a couple of merit members don't give a fuck and the ones with a huge hateboner aren't the most perceptive or need to be triggered first since most aren't really active anymore. That merit is out of touch has been brought up over the years often and it is what it is.
As usual the whole thing blew up because people wouldn't sleep over it and look for a reasonable solution. Boris tends to be too rash, which is why Lear does no decisions, but also cause Boris hates this drama and he really really should stick to streaming only. PMB pretty much should be ignored 1 minute into any discussion, since by then the legit argument he had turned into only shitflinging and drama. Anyone else could do better with it and form proper arguments, instead of only using ad hominems that fit him better than anyone else. Complaining about circlejerks when he organised a panel at a con, he should be majorly ignored. It's not the first time used their power to get merit to do something they want, so the NBD comment could be true. Shadowtester thinks we banned DF over aesthetics and fully transparent work for a team, so there is that.
Now AesCo sees itself in danger of having merit dictate politics they don't like or are simply stupid. A lot of people are annoyed by the drama in the cup, the red tape and overcomplication. It's pretty much killed comfy into becoming a circlejerk with only like 5 different people streaming with everyone else being driven off by annoying rules.

You're extrapolating a whole lot from a whole little. Boris said yesterday that if they'd voted on it, /cm/'s poll would've been voided. That means a majority in /merit/ felt that way, not just NBD and Boris.

Boris wasn't being a hypocrite.

PMB showed up to the Discord debate after it already started and was the only horsefucker there other than Magic Blue (who supported /cm/ playing).

NBD has history with DF. Really bakes your noodle.

Boris. You're saying because Boris praised the rigshop, he's not allowed to advocate against DF now. I'm saying that's bullshit.

DF getting involved with the cup isn't "making things right." It's DF selfishly putting his desire for participation ahead of the needs of teams. If you're banned and want a team to participate, stay the fuck away from that team, you nonce.
>>
>>186774748
DF making aesthetics is putting his needs ahead of /n/?
>>
>>186774803
DF doing things that involves teams in his baggage is selfish, yes. He explicitly used that as an excuse for continued participation in the cup. He's playing you morons like a fiddle.

If I buy you dinner so I can call in a favor later, that's selfish. "But he paid for it, so it isn't selfish!" is the excuse of an imbecile.

His /cm/ poll being used. He parlayed his list of "things I did for the cup" as an excuse for why he should get away with more shit. Almost like he's done this before. It's textbook politics.
>>
>>186775268
How is using a poll he made for /cm/ a favor for him and not for the board itself?
>>
>>186775229
If your help could bring fire down on that team, yes, it's selfish. DF doesn't have to be here, end of story. He's forcing himself into the cup against the wishes of many for his own selfish reasons.
>>
>>186775268
Or maybe he did a poll weeks after first expressing his interest in helping /cm/'s revival, got faced by /merit/ memeber that decided to take action now and rightfully pointed out that he'd been doing stuff like aesthetics or helping out /cm/ in the open for weeks with no reaction from /merit/.

I don't know how /4ccg/ would've responded, but anyone with a brain could've predicted how the circlejerk would respond, one that DF was very active and welcomed in until yesterday. Really really makes me think why Lear chose that route. Truly a mystery.

Just going to throw a vote in for banning PMB at this point:
- Deliberately flames and trolls arguments with ad hominem attacks, personal insults, and ignores his own quotes from minutes before in favor of his own arguments.
- Constantly violates Rule #1: "Don't be a Dick" in Discord, IRC, and on stream
- Perpetuates a shitty "E-sport" mentality that nearly every manager/streamer/commentator and all casual fans disagree with.
- Tremendous hypocrite, yelling at others for 'circlejerking' while holding the most cancerous, circle jerk event in the cup's history (Note that he defended this in Discord yesterday by calling it "Not technically against the rules")
- Openly and regularly attempts to undermine cup management during every public discussion, and has openly said this is to attempt to take control of /merit/ and put "his people" in charge.

Lear and /merit/ were doing him a courtesy by not completely unpersoning him the last time he tried to pull this shit. In exchange, they get someone who creates far more drama than any "help" he's claiming to add. Someone who doesn't provide any value to the cup as a manager, creator of content, or organizer. Since he won't do the polite thing and go the way of Tony, it's time for /merit/ to step in and put him on the shitlist.

Considering how adept you guys are at ripping arguments completely out of context, I sincerely doubt it was actually that bad. And it's difficult to not get ad hominem when the subject of the drama is literally a person.

>Constantly violates Rule #1: "Don't be a Dick" in Discord, IRC, and on stream
As does pretty much everyone else. Might as well ban half the cup for this.

>Tremendous hypocrite, yelling at others for 'circlejerking' while holding the most cancerous, circle jerk event in the cup's history (Note that he defended this in Discord yesterday by calling it "Not technically against the rules")
There's a massive difference between organizing something outside of the cup's influence, and between organizing it within the cup's influence. If someone streams on their own channel being an E-Celeb, it's not circlejerking. If they do it on the cup channel, it is. Again, CONTEXT. Something that seems to be an alien concept to a lot of people.

People who use the argument "the Discord channel was hardly a majority" are retarded. Do you honestly believe the majority of cup watchers today that aren't involved in any of the circlejerks give any sort of shit about Dragongate or DF at this point? All they know is that he caused a huge scandal 5 years ago and did the rigshop for years, why would they care now beyond the boogeyman shit?

It's just the excuse people use when their side is losing, "oh, the majority here disagree, but have you asked the entire population of the cup audience? you haven't, so they could side with me and I could be the majority opinion then!" And when you do do a poll during a cup it becomes "but there's potential people who aren't watching that day who could edge my side out as the majority!" People like that won't ever be satisfied and will just keep inventing hypothetical people that agree with them so they can feel like they're 'right' no matter what.

It's just a minority of old assblasted babies who got rused by a teenager in their internet game where memes play football half a decade ago and haven't grown up and let it go already, choosing to wallow in paranoia by painting up some kid as this evil manipulative sociopath instead, and they want to bring up nonsense like integrity and act like this is a fucking government with laws that must be upheld lest society collapse. >There's a massive difference between organizing something outside of the cup's influence, and between organizing it within the cup's influence

PMB using the cup as a stepping stone to getting eFamous and hosting events about the cup to people who aren't involved in 4chan itself is a lot worse than someone putting themselves over on a cup stream that few people are watching. And don't say it's outside of the cup's influence to get rid of him for it, he should be given the DF treatment.
>>
>>186787760
This argument is stronger than the one that DF should be barred from all participation.

>dumb autopilot rule
How is it dumb, if a board has people who want to play, why should they have to have a manager to do so

And before you say "if they really had interest a person would step up to be manager", PMB, it's because regardless of the actual amount or ease of work involved in managing nowadays, it still sounds offhand like a lot of commitment and dedication required to do something they just heard about offhand. Nobody speaking up to organize things beyond a PoI poll doesn't mean there isn't any interest to see a team play at all.

It does actually, he wouldn't have to push "IT WASNT AGAINST THE RULES" if he didn't still feel the need to defend it, and there'd be no need to defend it if it wasn't wrong to do but done anyway. Just because there's no rule against it doesn't mean it isn't wrong.

The cup is almost entirely built on trust, in a way.
It's mostly the trust that the streamer, helpers, managers, and pretty much everyone do their 'jobs'. Jobs they don't get paid for (hueue), mostly not even in attention.
But it's also the trust that nobody tries to break the cup and make it their own. The verification process, board interest threads, and polls, they all one big joke, and we all know it deep down. Still, we put our trust in them, even though that if there is someone to know that these can be faked, someone to put the energy into gaming the system, and someone who knows how to pull it off - they come from 4chan, of all the places.

And this is the trust DF broke. He cheated the system big time. He made over a year of cup history mostly meaningless. Back then, these news were as frustrating to people as if someone found out that all the games are prerecorded.

And yet, some Redditors on this site like the narrative of a redemption arc because this subreddit is more active than their social life.

When evaluating what a banned person does for the cup should go through this question,

>Does this action directly affect the quality of play from this board's team in their upcoming competition?
If the answer is "yes", then tell DF "stop".
If the answer is "no", then tell DF "Go right ahead".

Making aesthetics for teams you like has been done before by fans, and doing a roster poll because you have a team you like want to see play because you genuinely believe there's board interest is only helping the cup. On top of that, making aesthetics and doing roster polls and asking the question "Does this action directly affect the quality of play from this board's team in their upcoming competition?" is always a "no".
>>
>>186798115
If DF wanted to rig the cup and manage a team, he would have been doing it years ago. If people think aesthetics is leverage to try and get a proxy, then they clearly aren't concerned about DF being involved in managing teams, he already would be by now, and they would have done something more long, long ago. They just don't want a banned person positively contributing. And for a lot of /merit/ in 2017, more than they do.

>/merit/ did nothing when he made teams for invitationals.
>/merit/ said nothing when he started making aesthetics.

Board interest means there are people on the board who want to see the board playing. Having no such people makes the team pointless. Autopilots exist because there IS board interest, but no one wants to take the responsibility of managing. There's no such thing as autopilots without interest.

We should hold a town hall poll on the 4cc stream to poll everybody if you'd prefer
>>
>>186799898
A banned person made the poll. Yes.
/merit/ was supposed to make an export based on a vote for formation that /cm/ did. Rorona had the work delegated to her because /merit/ wouldn't be able to make a fair and unbiased export after this drama.
Technetium missed the roster poll and volunteered to help in the future.
Either /cm/ legitimately has decent board support, or DF has a super secret circlejerk full of people all acting to meet his agenda which nobody can actually prove.
Not allowing /cm/ to play serves only to punish any legitimate fans on the board, and if there aren't any, either the team will die, or their polls will be rigged forever under the guise of having fans. Denying them sets a precedent that the fans don't matter, the inner cups views do.

Every single board on 4chan has at least one person who's interested. The question was, is there enough interest for a board to organize a team for itself and keep it current? Clearly that isn't the case for /cm/, which is what's so funny about this.

Their response was in line with other small teams that are alive with no problems. Unless you think the board has no ability to organize itself just because DF made the poll, then you better cull every team that only stays alive because the manager makes the poll too. How do you expect a team to revive if people on there don't know about the cup, and nobody who knows about the cup goes there because they haven't been able to play in the cup for years because nobody in the cup goes there, because they haven't been able to play for years because nobody knows about the cup because nobody has seen the team play for years because.... the cycle continues.

Unbelievable. Nobody sees a problem here?

As for the rest, if there's anybody in the cup autistic enough to create the illusion of multiple people, it's DF. Telling /cm/ their participation is contingent on their own action isn't punishing it's fans. It's treating them equally to all other teams.

Riddle me this: then why didn't DF just anonymously make a cup thread to inform /cm/ about the cup and leave it at that? Is there was interest and they were told how it worked, somebody else could've made the poll.

The answer is: there isn't enough interest. It's the elephant in the room. /cm/ is dependent on a banned person and a merc, which makes the entire cull fucking pointless.

>>
>>186802242
The answer is because new people to the cup won't understand the cup of roster polls from just having it explained to them you fucking sperg.
Tell me, would you have watched the cup if your first experience of it was somebody going to your board and saying 'Hey get involved in this event. You can't play until you all nominate somebody to run something for a tournament you learned about yesterday'
The cup would die if that was the barrier for entry for every team.
>>
>>186802548
Not to mention that the /cm/ thread literally opened with their aesthetics, a summary of the cup and a link to their last game. How is that not enough to make new people be interested in something? What are you supposed to do to make people understand what the cup is when they've been dead for 18 months?
>>
>>186801645
Mack has credited a lot of /jp/ games to Rorona on first bait
>>
>>186802538
Rude.

And the reality is you're the one with reading comprehension issues. If nobody in a /cm/ thread would've made a poll were it not for DF doing it himself, then you're admitting there's not actually any board interest sufficient for participation.

If you think /cm/ just needed to be informed about the cup and that a native, non-banned person in that thread would've made a poll to jump start things, then you're admitting DF had no business making the poll and should've fucked off.

Either /cm/ has interest and DF's actions should be voided or /cm/ has no interest and "needs" DF's actions in order to play, making the cull a farce.

You can't have it both ways.
>>
>>186802958
/cm/ has interest (30 people voted for /cm/ to play in the cup) and DF's poll shouldn't be voided.

Do people need to lurk more or do they need to have the cup explained to them on the spot so they can organize things themselves with no experience of the cup and play? Make up your mind. Because if they need to lurk to find out about the cup, I'm sure they'll learn a lot having been dead for 18 months and having no threads.

The answer is you do what you can. Nobody can stop invisible sockpuppeting, so the best you can do is outlaw it and come down on it when people get sloppy enough to reveal they're doing it. That's good enough.

Arguing we shouldn't root out cheaters visibly participating because they might secretly participate is just complete nihilism.
>"We can't enforce the rules when it's in our power because there are times when we may lack the power to enforce them"
is a non-starter. That's really just an argument for anarchy because it abrogates all the rules and committees in charge of enforcing them.

Not every bank robber gets caught, but it's still illegal to rob banks and if you do get caught you will get punished. The fact that some people get away with shit sometimes doesn't mean it's now open season. That's how rules work. You're overthinking things.
>>
DF was banned and that's it. Any involvement should be stopped. Aesthetics doesn't interfere with much but it adds to the team and that's okay. But when he starts orchestrating the revival of teams and organizing teams to come back, that's when it is no longer good. We need to actually step forward and enforce this. /cm/ should be able to come back but DF involvement needs to be stopped and he needs to know that.

If he's more likely to try and sneak around, then that reinforces my desire for a 100% nuke on sight policy. I would prefer that cheaters be forced to hide and eventually get caught than to feel welcome.

you say people are being too dramatic which might be true, but sucking his dick and letting him get his foot in the door to acceptance again is the exact problem. If its made clear this isnt a foot in the door, and its just aesthetics, its fine. Yeah, but the problem is, we can't prove anything, and a large portion of the cup believes DF's sincerity. That's what the main issue is.

This is why if you want to remove DF, make him obsolete. IF you have a problem with him doign aesthetics, get people to learn aesthetics to a point where we can afford to let him go and still be at the same relative strength anyway. If we're going to have autopilots, have /merit/ run the POI polls for the prospective boards. Hell, the Rigshop's already been replaced, so it can't be that hard.
>>
>>186813586
As I said, if you ban HA and CT at the same time, the only way to have a good offence is be a /g/ or /u/ clone. PES17 is a bad game for offence.

He's one out of like six people who can make stadiums, and the only one who isn't busy most of the time on other aesthetic duties. You'd need a lot of people to learn about stadium making before him being removed resulted in almost no change in terms of aesthetic creation.

That game has way way worse defence than 17. It's also not just goals, it's the quality of games. Way less shots. Do you not think everyone runs CT or HA because it's the only way to get a great offence out of PES17?

Most of those stadiums are just existing stadiums with an image on the pitch. Very few people can make custom modeled stadiums.
>>

He means custom modded stadiums, not just a pitch texture with banners and stuff.
>>
>>186814225
Exactly. We don't NEED DF, but if he's making himself useful then it's only regressive to get rid of him until we have more people who can make stadiums and do what he does. Especially since he's willing to do it for teams he has no interest in.

Centering targets is a strong advanced tactic, but it can be defended against. You run swarm the box, pressure aggressively and push up your defensive line.

When you do that, instead of getting pinpoint pseudocorners, the opponent will make a ton of early crosses that your CBs either intercept or that will lead to weak headers from far away.

PES16 has taught a lot of managers that a deep defensive line is the only option, but in PES17 the defense is much, much better at handling throughball attempts, and instead wing play is more dangerous, so you have to adapt to that.

People will still score of centering crosses occasionally, but that's just PES. Even if you defend ed against throughballs, PES would still find away to score throughballs on you.

Height Abuse is the real culprit. It makes it impossible for defenses to contest lofted passes, which leads to either direct goals, assists, or defensive spaghetti. Height Abuse should be removed or at the very least thoroughly tweaked for Autumn. Since there's only one cup left in 2017 and hopefully we can got to PES18 next year, I would say just ban Height Abuse for Autumn and re-evaluate afterwards.

Seriously nigga?

/tv/ is a great fucking team that provides constant content, has good memes and a dope goalhorn. By this you only demonstrate your hate for fun and memes and expose yourself as a /qa/fag /pol/ is a fetus team that inhabits your heads rent-free.
>>
If you're complaining about the cup turning in to reddit, you've outgrown 4chan. It was always reddit.
>>
>>186880472
>anti-fun /qa/ that wants everything to be as boring and sterile as possible
Are those the guys who want to force a fetus because /ic/ vs /po/ is way more entertaining than /a/ vs /sp/?

Can you make endless OC on reddit?

For what it's worth, I live with two completely stereotypical redditors, and they found out about the cup when I did my testing, and they watched some games with me. They didn't really like it apart from the "cool 3d models" because they didn't get any of the jokes.

So if anything, the new blenders are reddit.

I'm just providing facts about redditors that no one else is. Personally I really enjoy the new blenders, and wouldn't say any part of the cup is reddit, apart from all the circlejerking that goes on outside of it.

And if they enjoyed breathing, they'd stop being fat fucks and smoking weed.

the Terry A. Davis aesthetical blender model is fun to look at when you get the reference and the meme it implies.
I get it though, aesthetics shouldn't be the main focus but they can help visualize a meme.

Probably make the cup reach out more to boards like /h/ or /fit/ or /sci/, since they can have a lot of potential viewers on trashcast

I never suggested that? It's only that some try to deflect criticisms of the cup's current decadent state by directing attentions to aesthetics, as if that was relevant.

>Why do you care about viewer numbers in the first place?

Community interaction differentiates the cup itself from regular testing. I'd much rather have a 2000 people watching a cup and have them all shitpost copypastas in the chat until it's illegible and check the general for a spate of reaction pics than see the same 5 /u/, /lgbt/, /mlp/ or /otherteamwithaveryexclusivecommunitythatisverydedicated/ spam 1 copypasta cheering their team

This literally doesn't matter with how many people find the cup. New fans will always come and go, and eventually the teams will get in to the knockouts or the elites and suddenly the viewership problem isn't a problem.

>>
>>186893743
Yes, as long as the playstyles are decent enough. Cards give a small boost if set in a appropriate way, but you can do fine even without.
>>
>>186893894
so in terms of importance:
playstyle > formation > cards?
>>
>>186894128
I'm no expert, but I'd still say that formation is the most important thing. You can hardly win with a 2-3-5 against a sensible formation no matter how your players are set.
