Do you lot see potential in Dauntless?

I like the look of it but something just doesn't hit the same notes as Monster Hunter.

The monsters don't seem as massive or as intimidating, and the environments don't feel as fleshed out as monster hunter, with everything being generic sky islands.

I really want to like it though since the combat seems a lot faster than MH.

Despite loving the MH games to death one of my main complaints is how slow and sluggish things can feel.

I can't play MHFU anymore. I can't. I got to G-rank, I beat some monsters, but the up keep of item sorting, item farming and 20+ minute monster hunts on top of never having enough zenny for anything got to me. Couple that with the G-rank rage mode on monsters making them 3x times faster / stronger and unfair, I can't. Fuck this game. Diablos is a whore of a monster. Gravios is the fucking devil and Rajang can go fuck itself. Even "easy" monster like E. Congala, Kut-ku, Gypceros etc. turn into raging faggots in G-rank that make you want to throw the game across the room.

No. No item sets, no play. No honey, no play. No Sonic Bombs, no play. No zenny, no play. I'm tired of hunting Nargacuga for money and eating for the same ingredients for the 100th time to get 0 food skills activated. Tired of going to the farm after every hunt to mine 10 times, gather honey, gather bugs, bomb a mine, sort the inventory, go eat and THEN finally I can start a quest. Fuck. I'm tired. Every TA I watch to try and learn something from the Japanese hard core MHP2G players, I just realize they are getting lucky AI moments in the 1 out of 20 hunt and none of it really helps you.

Yeah, there really is a problem with the animations. The choreogaphy of the movesets is alright but the attacks chain too fast with barely any anticipation, follow through actions or exageration. That makes everything look wheightless and robotic. They compensated with visual and audio effects so the game feels better but the problem at the core is still there. Worst part is fixing the animations would fuck with the timing of the attacks and the whole game balance would need to be redone.
The monster animations have a lot of the same problems but on top of that they fail to look organic. Monsters moving like real creatures is probably the thing monhun is the best at, but in dauntless they just stand around twitching awkwardly through the hits, slowly transitioning into attacks. Also the fact they made every attack slow as fuck instead of giving them anticipation, which makes them look even more unnatural.

That's what i think anyhow, I'm no animator.

Hammer is a solo weapon. You can't force a KO if all 3 of the other weapon users hog the head. Just a single bowgun spammer will ensure a monster will be leaping across the field.

That said, if you go for head without any care for your health you can force a KO guaranteed. But you're going to die if the game is hard at all. That means MHX and MHX where it's near impossible to die it's easy to force a KO.

I used to do Molten Tigres in 4U constantly with lance. Terrible experience, but doable solo. However it's 10x times easier and faster to do it with any GS. 4U has shit balance and shit itemization. Sets suck. 4U sucked for any weapon other than GS, CB and IG.

I'm actually enjoying watching the Dauntless streams mostly because I never watched a MH type stream before, but I think now that Dauntless paid off streamers now it'll make MHW even bigger because there's an audience for MH games now.
