Just finished my first playthrough of Demon's Souls, good fuckin game with top tier atmosphere on par with Bloodborne. Jank and clunky UI were charming, honestly. Made me really appreciate the callbacks to it in Bloodborne, like the Brain of Mensis and One Reborn.

I'm Tobias in /bbg/ how the fuck did you know it was me? Demon's character was named Sabbak

Royal because magicfag and the idea of being a squishy wizard stalking medieval corridors zapping soul-starved dreglings was fun to me. Ended the game with 30vit, 18end, 30int and 40magic, didn't touch anything else. Used wooden and Insanity catalysts, Geri's Rapier, Crescent Falchion (+3) and Kris Blade, wore Silver Coronet, ended up with a mix of Doran's and Garl Vinland's armour.

Shrine of Storms was really cool, liked that area for its look, feel and lore. Latria is a close second because it's fucking spooky as shit. I don't know who my favourite boss would be, probably a mix up between Old Hero, Storm King and Maiden Astraea.

There's definitely a bunch of similarities, I want to talk about it more, but this isn't /dsg/, even though I've never seen them talk about Demon's apart from like the three posts I made that were lost in ENB and PvP posting.

Anyone else feel less satisfaction from beating BB bosses when compared to DaS bosses? In DaS I felt I've learned the patterns of the boss and appropriately reacted to them, in BB I feel like I just got lucky or somehow reacted quickly at the right moment, spammed some attacks and bam it's done, but I don't feel like I've mastered the boss, meaning I'd have trouble if facing him again, you know?

Just little things got to me, like the Latria Heart/Mensis Brain, Freke's ascendancy thing, Allant becoming a deformed mess sort of makes me think of Rom, the fact the Old One's soul is the Beast Demon Soul is just funny, the whole meddling with forbidden powers is a central theme to both games as is the loss of humanity to combat the menace. I'd almost go as far as to say Bloodborne is a very, very extensive remake of Demon's Souls, the same general concept came at from two very different angles.

That is actually the best nourishing gem ever for PvE and healing PvP. Instead of a measly 2-10 extra damage on an attack you get 5% of your total damage. It's god tier.

Eeeeh I guess. But still, there's a ton of things separating it from just being Innsmouth. The villagers don't terribly resemble fish, the 'shark' giants look a hell of lot more like whales, there's snailgirls, the doggos are anglerfish though. The villagers are also basically completely innocent and their Hamlet is a tragic place, the Deep Ones were sinister monsters hiding in plain sight and Innsmouth was a rotting pile of ill repute. Kos is also the one providing bounties in the form of parasites, the Deep Ones, not Dagon, were the ones providing the bounties of gold and fish to Innsmouth.

The similarity is incredibly surface level. The word eldritch, though, is undeniably Lovecraft's word and wherever it pops up, it can't be mistaken for anything else.
