I've never experienced that and I've been playing since late-2014. The only real hard event is Performamatch because it's extremely reliant on both luck and winning streaks. Right now you can only tier (acquire both cards) if you get a second from a gacha box which gives you 1 pull for every 100 EP up to 50000. Now what if you can't get the card on your first four pulls? You might have to aim for 50k points. Keep in mind the T2 average for this event is currently around 40k.

Well if you want to play only for the songs, T7S is really good at it (better than deresute, LLSIF and bandori imo) the gameplay is hard to compare because it only uses 2 rails instead of 5 or 7 but you have to he more precise in your tapping , 8 beat story has some really lewd cards and the rates are 1.5% for the highest rarity but the gameplay is not as different as deresute, I only have listened 2 songs but it seemed pretty average to me.

Literally any game out there. Half of the songs in the game are just covers of existing anisongs. You might as well just download Guitar Hero on your PC and install one of anime song packs. You probably can even mod it to use some 2d image as background so you won't even notice any difference.

I once tried tiering the Performemetch without spending anything. The reward was a Mana G card. I got top 2500. You're right that it's still luck dependent though, I ended up missing Nicole's i-n-g item because the box gacha was a dick.

Counterintuitively, for easier tiering, don't tier in Vocalist. The reason is because it always wins. That means it will never get the last place bonus that gives you x1.5 attack. This is why the top whales rarely if ever pick Vocalist; the team rewards are just not worth it.

A single GS sunglasses Coney card can 100% sparkle GS cards, but not GS+ cards (there's no GS+ sunglasses Coney). This makes GS cards more worth sparkling to max (30) than GS+ cards, which are better off being sparkled to 20 instead. And while GS+ cards have a higher level cap, their growth rate is gimped in exchange, so the higher level cap doesn't actually do anything. The current meta only acknowledges two types of cards in the top tier: high HP cards with a HP recovery leader skill, and high ATK cards. For the first type, the current best GS+ is Sawara with class change to Player, with 7875 HP at max level without sparkles or i-n-g, and 11319 HP with max sparkle and the right i-n-g items. There is no shortage of GS cards that can easily surpass this. For the second type, the current best GS+ is Hime with class upgrade to Star Player, with 6601/9571 ATK. Makoto has a GS that can reach 6726/9752 ATK.

Combined with the fact that each character with G+ so far has only one G+ card, that makes G+ a meme rarity which is probably only to encourage us to whale the step-up character gacha tickets for collection's sake i.e. a jew rarity. Think of G+ in T7S as SSR in LLSIF if SSRs are on the tier of (and mechanically similar to) above average SRs, but none of them are better than the best SRs meta wise. Oh, and every character has at most one SSR each. I suppose stuff like SSR seals don't exist either.
