From the Depths is fucking shit at movement, anyway. Nick "Not even remotely" Smart decided he'd balance flying squirrels by putting a hard limit on all speed, even though he had world-dependent settings for that already. Everything moves at a slow pace.
And the engines aren't even real engines, just energy generators. Nick has said that he'd add axels and shit, but I'm pretty sure he never will. There are also no pivots or grids like in spengies, so everything is just one slow, solid brick.

ftd will give you great detail in building, especially turrets, which pleases the autism, but dev is beyond retarded and you will either regret buying it immediately or soon after. worth pirating though.
now spengo: be warned that despite what I'm about to write I've got about 700-800h there, if you like legos, spengos is alright I guess, you can build rovers, ships, etc. but it's all awfully simplified. mods can help (thruster offset, aerodynamics and reentry, etc.) but be warned that if you want gameplay you will be disappointed.you don't have the details of ftd (reactor for example is a singular block that "just werks" if you put uranium in) and the most difficult part is connecting each part with tubes or scripting.
I have not been lamenting by purchase of spengos, but only because it was discounted at the time.
If you want to invest in some /egg/ I wholehearthedly recommend fugtorio and any zachtronics game, start with spacechem

Did Nick remove that again? It used to be that every bullet had a max range of about 1.5 kilometers after which it'd just start falling straight down for no discernible reason. A clear feature because it explicitly told you where that range is on the turret. They are spin blocks. That's all they do, spin based on some set variable in a very buggy way. And you can't place half of the blocks on it, not even thrusters because Nick cannot into objects at all. You can't even stack them.
The most you can hope is adding a second vehicle tethered with a dock, but that's even buggier and Nick "fixed" that too.

I can send you a build right now, but stuff is either broken, unfinished, or won't work without us pulling the strings of the server. Base game, building and flying around work just fine. a third runs a shipyard, making ships based on what the second program says is in storage, size limits being determined on what storage tier has been reached
and a fourth to command combat fleets, ordering ships from the shipyard based on a quota of vessels to fill a fleet, the ships doing jack shit because there is no combat in spengies

I like the idea but you're looking at a fucking huge missile, m8. And you'd be better off just building more printers with longer small missiles that have more fuel. In fact, since they're essentially just large drones, you could make missile corvettes fairly small and cheap and just make a bunch of them. Again, you're not looking at very many use cases for them however. The vast majority of fighting done by the ships of a crate station is going to be done by heavy cruse missiles attacking other stations so they can't be used to build anything that impedes the crate station or threaten it. There's a guided missile destroyer on the workshop that fits the bill for this purpose very well, though I forget the name. It uses an old method of guidance that should still work but is essentially just SACLOS guidance that uses the ship itself as a pointer and the printer is mounted spinally. Throw an autopilot on and give it a link to the station and you could use it with almost no modification, just need to figure out resupply somehow.

A small contraption with a parachute appears near you with a GPS tag and a countdown. Reach it, click the button and claim your nothing. After like a minute from activating it another one can appear, they are not rare. They are very bouncy and will roll downhill.

We were able to make a fully automated factory than automatically filled our welder ship whenever it started using goods. We used antennas to communicate the welder's inventory remotely to our assembler hell, which would build any missing items in the station's inventory and would then automatically dump them in the welder's inventory when it docked.

At the start of DX11 I could barely be in empty space with a single block in sight at 13 FPS, and loading lasted several minutes. Right now I am at 30 FPS with all planets and asteroids, and loading is few seconds.

It could work with just reading the ship's speed, but you would have to manually enter your braking acceleration and be pointing your brakes directly at your target coordinate. The rest is simple math, which I'm sure the script can carry out.

So if I have a ship that weighs 300,000kg, 6MN should get 20m/ss
If the script can read ship speed, you can tell it to do time=(300,000*speed)/6,000,000.

Say you were going 300m/s, you get 15 seconds.
Plug that in to distance=(20time^2)/2 to get the distance you need to engage brakes, in this case 2.25 km

The problem with /egg/ servers is that they all require a good dedicated server and nobody has one. The last fugtorio server started lagging like fuck after we started expanding more seriously, the spengies server only ran well (by keen standards) as long as nobody did anything big, just a bunch of welders or grinders already had severe impact on simspeed. Skubmade is shit, GMod also needs a good server for anything big, autism blocks is not /egg/, and that about exhausts multiplayer.
Only thing we can do is invade others' spengies servers, but these supposed coordinated efforts always fail way before anything gets done.

You need to shill your server, people obviously don't know about it. Post the IP, password and maybe the map settings. For future reference, the mods you absolutely want to have on any server are autofill, long reach, RSO and squeak through. Something for increased underground belt length and vehicle snap are nice to have too.
Aside from RSO, you can add any of these mods to an existing server without restart. Even RSO can be added iirc, but it will only affect newly generated parts of the map.

They're the smallest wheels, that's their appeal. If you want any wheels larger than studded wheels (except maybe landing gears which are larger than studded, smaller than gun-mount but good for drifts with decent structure) then just use fucking gun-mount wheels (though again large wheels can work as side armour though I think you'll probably want to be using the mk2 engine, basically a faster alternative to tracks)

Overall, gun-mount wheels are the best although they feel like they have something bad about them that can't be identified through stats, probably poor grip or something.

Studded wheels are good for small cars.

I guess, though, racing wheels or chained wheels or whatever would be better if you want wider wheels and don't care about them being small. I don't really think there's a big difference between racing wheels and chained wheels, but the theory is that chained is better on sand and racing is better on concrete - and you're more likely to be on sand than concrete. Also, something just seems odd about the racing wheels, but maybe that's just me.
Chained wheels are fairly solid.

Honestly gun-mount wheels are a bit weaker now that TOWs suck ass as they were really good at defending against TOW rockets.

It's really just a simple matter of power match-up. If each team member takes 10 seconds of exposure to one enemy to die, a team of 10 versus a team of 5 while the other 5 are seperated because they're chasing some faggot results in two fights. The point is to increase the fucking powerscore or something so that you can't bring it into sealclubbing games.


The best solution however is to nerf the turnspeed and guided speed as they've done, make it require ammo packs in order to fire enough of them (thus to fuction at optimal ammo capacity you have to up your powerscore) and finally give it an unguided mode that can be used at higher powerscores alongside other weapons.

But the most secure of them all is hanging on full force disconnnected connectors, because sometimes landing gears disconnect, and sometimes grids fuse if they are static (pasted inside a voxel like the colum i told you) and the distance between a rotor and the grid in the head are too close.

Heli drones are generally better since they shoot from a higher angle, meaning all the damage usually goes directly to the cabin instead of armor. If I had to pick either one, I'd stick with heli. They're fragile though so you need at least a Growl cabin or any that's fitted with an engine to dodge fire and get to their back where they usually store their fuel/generator/ammo for easy kills.

While both drones are passive aggressive support, heli is more active where they need to be within range of the combat zone to deal damage. Car drones are fire and forget, letting the AI do the work, which is the safest but also unpredictable. Might want to test both of them yourself using exhibition cars and see which works for you. Just search for "drone" and set to "all time". Try out the "drone carrier" and "support drone" build.

Theres a set schedual for brawls, and they are active at the same times every day of the week. Like I know races are every saturday and wednesday.

Its a retarded system though, LITERALLY meant to prevent you from having too much fun. If theres a mode you really like, you play it till your sick of it over a few days most likely and stop playing. So they space it out to keep you coming back again and again.

Can someone explain to me exactly how the executioners penetration works? The 90cm stuff means it can penetrate up to 3 blocks, but what exactly does 80 points mean? I did some testing and found that 2 100 structure plates prevents penetration to the 3rd plate, but if you were to place something with <50 structure or so in front of it then the damage will propagate to the 2nd plate (now 3rd block due to the added structure) BUT unlike the 200 damage for 2 plates, you won't always get full structure damage with this new piece added in front unless it's structure is less than 24 or so.

So basically, what are points, how are they calculated, why are executioners so inconsistent, and a side question, does firing your cannons with a delay between each shot deal more damage? because sometimes it feels like only 1 of them is hitting when you click both buttons at once.

There aren't that many gameplay mods for keen's keencode simulator, most of them fall in the category of "it's another ramp block", and each mod you install also makes the game run even worse
Raise speed limit to 500, increase large grid thruster power by a factor of 3, make ship mounted welders weld shit in a huge radius and you can remove mod support altogther.

So I made this ugly tank destroyer in FTD (the gun is the only functional part of it currently).

The thing that's abysmal about the advanced cannon is it's reloaders take something like a minute to reload after firing 6 or so shots. Any advice on how to rebuild the reloaders? I can't seem to understand if I should add more clips on the sides, stack them or add more reloaders entirely.

IIRC the problem with the Von-Neumann drones in spergies is sterility after n generations.
This problem is somewhat sidestepped by having an insect-like hierarchy with queens, drones and what have you. Just gotta remember that some of the structures built later on might need to be able to print things, so they can't be the "sterile generation".

the trick in my experience is to scrap clips entirely. Fit loads of autoloaders and put 1 ammo input on each. In the same space as your tank I've got a twin 500mm 4m shell cannon turret that as a whole is firing off 24 rounds per minute.

Although now I think about it I could probably get it to fire faster if I added more ammo inputs to each autoloader, as if they can't put a shell in the time since shell delivered lowers by 1, so in the next second they can deliver a shell. Could probably therefore have made my cannon far smaller.

Ok, I tested my new theory which proved wrong, so one ammo feed to one autoloader, like in pic related.

Although you end up with a x1.5 increase in load time per autoloader in this config you can fit twice the autoloaders in the same space as you would have had a loader and clip, each one able to load the firing piece. so you can get monstrous firerates out of fairly small spaces. Better still, it'll only have any shells in at the start of battle, beyond that if you've done it right the loaders should spend most of their time empty, meaning the cannon is super resilient to damage. (half can be blown up and the rest will still be there, makes twin/triple etc cannon configs survivable.)
