At low tiers, you should be using islands as much as possible as cover. Use your torps on ships that are trying to move through your islands.

You need to start learning how to use your guns cuz you're going up a gunbote line.

They are long and inefficient for space usage and are thus fast and turn like ass for it.

At their times they were some of the most powerful destroyers on the sea in terms of speed and gun and torpedo armament, their main issues were with engine reliability and general sea keeping (this one was a trend throughout the newer IJN ships)
