Understand that souls pvp is not the main point of souls, and as a result is built more for hilarity over the course of a normal playthrough, instead of competitive action.

The proper way to do souls PvP is a clusterfuck, roleplay, dickbag invasions, or jolly co-op. It's not about winning, it's about making people laugh, or in some cases, cry.

That should be fine, get a drakekeepers great hammer, or a large/giant club, or heide greatlance. Make sure to infuse the weapon of your choice when you get it, lightning works wonders on a strict/faith hybrid and will carry you through ng just fine.

Yes, holy fuck yes it is.

Healing miracles do not scale with faith in DS2, so basic healing is very strong and you don't need high faith to heal all the way to full.

Also it allows him to use dark or pyro or socerity since any enemies that resist those are going to be weak to lightning.

If you carry a strike weapon and heal him often, you'll be able to solo any bosses he can't beat on his own.

You can use the name engraved ring also to keep within summoning range.

scaling is strongest between 30 and 40, so if you go above 20 you should go all the way to 40. Since you can infuse any weapon with lightning also, 40 faith is more important than 40 strength.

Once you hit 40 faith, that's good enough. Scaling is not very high after that (with a cap at 50) but you can spice down any high-faith requirement spell to equip it instead.

Rundown of the spells over 40 faith:
>Great lightning spear is always worth it. Either go to 45 or 50 faith, or spice it down by 2.
>Blinding bolt is worth it if you have 50 faith and spice it down. At 40 faith it costs too much spice.
>Soothing sunlight is possibly better for co-op, but in general not as good as great heal because it takes up 2 slots and heals less. It's only advantage is the wide range that it heals, letting you heal groups.

it's part of the "don't get hit" mentality. Shields are a "Crutch" because they are inferior to rolling, and just add weight.

In DS1 they were pointless because people would throw dung pies or backstab you.

In DS2 and 3 they can shieldbreak and riposte you, plus elemental chip damage is fairly significant.

Two handing also offers a lot of poise/trade advantages, so if you ARE going to be standing still, might as well trade damage instead of just losing stamina.

Shields have their niche purpose (in DS3, they come up faster than recovery frames for rolls, so you can use them to avoid being rollcaught, for example, and they are good parry tools) but 2Hing is still better in most cases.

Because it makes sense from a game-design perspective. It allows players to sacrifice weight and speed/defense in exchange for protecting themselves from one of the most often abused mechanics, at the cost of exposing themselves to attacks from the front.

I'm currently doing a coop run with a str/fth build. Works amazingly.
Invest everything in those two stats, only get as much of the rest as you absolutely need. You won't die anyway.
I use great heal, great lighting and another damage spell of choice.
Still running the starting mace too. Good weapon, tiny range though. Get a lightning infusion.

People say it's the best because you have the most control over what your opponent does. You can reliably punish people or force them to run out of stamina for extra hits, and it was consistent. The Iron Dragonslayer set is the best Slutwear in DaS3, It gives your females wide hips, a relatively trim waist, a great ass, an armored corset, and gives great protection.

If you want to level both str/dex, try to aim for 27/40 and use boss weapons or twinkling weapons, which can't be infused, or aim for regular weapons and infuse sharp.

For a (typical) weapon with C/D scaling:

Dks 3 did sweet spots mostly right. The game shouldn't punish you for not having the exact proper distance in game where both you and target are constantly moving. Dks 2 scythes had shit damage, and if you missed the sweet spot you had utter garbage damage. In dks 3, scythes have alright damage and if you land the sweet spot, you get slightly better damage.

Anyways the red dots show the waist of the armor at it's thinnest point, which is about mid-torso where it "connects" to the upper part covering the rest of the chest. The orangeish dots show the widest parts of the hips, which look much better when walking and thus not cursed by the neutral pose From seems to enjoy using. Considering most heavy armor makes you look like a fatass or barrel-chested, this armor having this much of a hip-to-waist ratio is pleasant on the eyes once you notice it. I mean I can't really make webms on this toaster but if I could I would make a bit of a walk loop to better show it.

What's the most fun/interesting way to play each game?

I've beaten them all, but I've found that I've pretty much always played the same build in every game. I always make a melee fighter that uses high stability, 100% shields (greatshields most of the time), along with a bow and eventually venturing into a school of magic towards the end of the game. So I thought it would be interesting to go back through the series and play outside of my comfort zone.

I've been thinking I want to do a fist weapons-only character, a pure spellcaster, and I want to actually use the MLGS in whichever game it's the most fun in, but I'm all for playing some weird builds that make me completely rethink how to play the game. Mainly I just want to avoid falling back into the habit of hiding behind a shield and playing so passively.

Demon Souls pvp was horribly broken, most of the spells were one-shot kills that were unavoidable thanks to the bad netlag. Because world tendency also trends to the network average (which is neutral, since few people are actually playing the game anymore) it's advised to actually play the game completely offline so that you can max world tendency

I'm currently on my mage run on DaS 2 and I got a question: I leveled up INT to 40 and FAI to 20. Then found items that increase my INT up to 47. So all stuff that scales with INT scales with 47 now and not 40, right?
Also, I heard that the cap is INT+FAI=60, so should I lower my INT to 33 because my items will increase it back to 40?

As a DaS2fag, even I know that's not true. DaS1's map was the best in the series. Had a ton of junctions and overlapping levels. DaS2 had a lot of paths to take from Majula, but little to no overlap between them.

Though DaS3 world design is linnear garbage. After several playthroughs, I want to kill myself every time I have slog through Highwall, then Settlement, then Woods, then the Cathedreal, then the Catacombs, etc. etc. etc.

60% of Das1s maps were entirely reliant on invisible walls to work. Yeah, the layout itself was nice enough, but the visual representation of it was so much horseshit, that I cant even think of a word that properly describes my utter disgust with it.

DaS2 had none of that. The areas were more "gamist" in layout, but I'll take that any day if the alternative is retarded level design, that relies on invisible walls to work.

The only ones with some online activity are co-op for medals and forest hunter kills. I'm guessing the co-op rates for medals at O&S or gargoyles are actually higher than the drop rates for ears or dragon scales, same with forest covenant, which makes them easier to max out.

Basically, warrior of sunlight and forest hunter are easy to get the max items for, because they have low requirements. Forest Hunter is the only one that requires online, but it probably has the most active online. Path of the dragon is the hardest for both because you won't get any online activity.

Well.... just finished DS2, it was good took me 30 hours 10 minus that DS1 but thats because is more easy that 1, all the boses die at 1 o 2 try, really funny because i died more in absurd zones with a lot of enemies.

What do you guys think of my Viking Age raider cosplay?

Right hand: Hatchet or Barbed Sword. The Hatchet is obvious however the Barbed is not, personally it fits the look the best because of it's small wristgaurd and it's smaller blade length. To me I feel like it's the most apropriate because every other straight sword looks too odd for a Viking during the Viking Age. Next weapon after that is a regular Spear. The Winged Spear would've made more sense for looks wise, because of the two little things that jut out near the blade which were used for disarming/taking away round shields at the time.

Left Hand: +10 Round Shield, to be frank it's a really good shield at this level. Gives it 62 stability which can survive about 2-3 hits with a great weapon, and it of course fits the theme. Millwood Greatbow after that, it might not be historically accurate but it's useful for invasions.

Armor:
Head - Follower Helm, Northen Helm looks way to elaborate and clean for my taste.
Chest - Chain Armor
Hands - Exile Gauntlets, looks like big leather gloves. Necessary hand protection during the Viking Age.
Legs - Faraam Boots. Baggier trousers would look better, but the ones that do exist in the game don't fit the general theme.

Rings - Chloranthy Ring, Ring of Steel Protection, Untrue Dark Ring, and Prisoner's Chain.

The build of course is a quality build at level 125, you know the drill. 40/40/40/40.

hey, i've looked around and it seems in DS3 you don't get invaded by NPC phantoms in offline mode anymore, with some people saying it has to do with steam being online or offline.

is there any workaround for this? i've tried going online on Steam but to no avail( and yes i am embered and the area boss is alive). i wouldn't mind it so much if it was just invasions but it seems you can't get summoned to NPC worlds for quests as well and i wanna do those.

Sunlight Straight Sword only scales up to 40 Faith, and it's otherwise just a quality weapon with a Faith requirement.

50 Faith is worthless, 60 Faith or bust.

34 Endurance with FaP+3 is a breakpoint, and you have too many points in Vigor when you could be putting them into Faith or Str/Dex instead.

The break points for Endurance are 26, 34, 37 and 40. You only need to hit 34 and higher if you're going to be wielding an ultra.

If you stop at 40 Faith, you're accepting that your Miracles will be utter shit outside of non-scaling buffs and utility Miracles. It's almost impossible to do a hybrid build with 60 Faith (the one exception is 26 Str Crux builds), so you have to choose where to sacrifice.

Most people stop Vigor at around 39 since that gives you exactly 1200 HP without FaP or Life Rings. As long as you're over 35 though you're fine.

Stupid question, at pure faith what buff should I be using? I have SSS, casting dark blade or lightning blade on it, they do about the same damage. But, DB doesn't scale with miracle rings. Is one of these buffs better, or situationally better?

DMB is out because I don't want to farm ears right now and it's supposedly just LB but with magic damage.

No buff is affected by rings. I think DB is only good on CotMK/MHS to supplement the dark damage. Alone it should be inferior in terms of pure damage to LB because of how spellbuff is calculated. Although, people generally have more lightning defense than dark, so in case I'm wrong on the previous (you can check on the status page for AR), DB would be better

herald legs are more realistic for 11th century and the thrall axe is more viking era and more to scale of real axes.

I just use northern armor, millwood helm, herald legs, followers javelin, thrall axe, and heavy round shield.
