You can easily fully build literally any deck other than True King/Zoo for under $100. The card game's ridiculously cheap right now for non-meta, and even meta's pretty affordable compared to $200 Dracossack or Teledad format a decade ago.

Dark Magician is a meme/shitter deck because all the genwunner nostalgiafags build it, but it's not the absolute worst. People will meme about Eternal Soul but it's really not a problem.

Before you build anything, download YGOPro and play a few matches to see if it's worth dropping money on. Try out other decks, too. You might find something fun.

The problem is thanks to links pretty much everything that isn't True King/Zoo basically has no chance of winning since they got fucked the least/don't care about the rule changes whereas pretty much every petdeck does.

Once they get killed by the eventual banlist then non meta shit can have a chance and even though it's just the old meta coming back (ABCs, D/D/Ds etc) at least there's more variety than just Zoos and Dracos every fucking time.

My point isn't that the game as a whole isn't cheaper to play as it clearly currently is. My point is that it's pretty much pointless to play or even buy non meta currently unless the people who you're playing against are doing the same otherwise you're going to get rolled every time unless you completely lucksack them.

Once Dracos/Zoos get hit then there is a chance for more variation assuming Jewnami doesn't shit out another tier 0 archetype in the meantime. However while links are as necessary to use your ED as they are and when basically all the petdecks need their ED to play because they were designed that way then it will still be a struggle for them until better links/link enablers get printed.

The thing is, petdecks have always lost. That's why they're petdecks and not meta.

And before the pack change, petdecks were way more expensive. I remember shying away from building Koa'ki Meirus because the deck core alone would run me almost $80, and this was BEFORE Iron Core was announced. Yang Zing on launch would push $100 off Paths alone. If your petdeck had a super rare or high, you were expected to pay $20+ for each card, which is the price for Secret Rare meta staples nowadays.

And this was for decks that had zero chance of topping. MR4 and Links have nothing to do with it. Unplayable cards were expensive in the past, and now they're absolutely not expensive despite zero change in playability.

So I got this D/D/D core at locals today, can anyone hit me up with some tips and pointers on how to play the deck when High Executive Ghengis dtops?

It's not about topping ycs, it's about having a reasonable chance against the deck without getting their plays disrupted during their turn (either by a monster/spell or monster/trap immune beatstick or by an easily shat out R4) and being completely fucked with no means of recovery. Why do you think Kirin got nuked by the list even though only metalfoes decks got the most out of him.

And before you go 'but there was always disruption, what about when bottomless/solemn judgment were at 3' I'd note that the game was a lot slower at that point with way less draw power and even the faster decks relied on shit like gold sarcophagus to search out the pieces it needed. That means that yeah your play got stopped but that doesn't mean the opponent can then OTK you the next turn because of it like the game at the moment. In short, the current meta allows no room for error and can easily cripple basically everything by interfering way too much during the opponent's turn only to nuke them straight after.

There were always some exceptions but most of them could still be beaten by non meta. Hell even the pendulum era when PePe wasn't king there were still ways for non-meta to do well (to the point where things like RR/Fluffals even managed to top at some point). Now however whenever you do something it's just 'Master peace eff :^)' or 'Drident eff :^)', both of which are very easy to get out quickly and can singlehandedly shut down an opponent's plays. You can't even use common outs like the lightning since the moment you drop it on the board 'Master peace/drident eff :^)' shuts it down completely. And that's ignoring any potential backrow (such as one of three solemn strikes) sat there just in case you do manage to get something that outs it onto the board.

Not him but he has a point, the game has had numerous times when you could do well even at higher-tier events with not-Tier-1 decks. Look at Negroz format, memeshit topped all the time. But Zoo and TD just snuff out everything since Zoo's plays are all 1-card and hence the rest of their deck is various forms of stun (either handtraps or backrow) which just completely kills other decks because they can't compete with a deck that can set 4 and still make their boss monster T1. And TD are anti-meta "all of your usual shit doesn't hurt me" except instead of it dying to Denko or End Phase double-twin-twisters, now it shits out a mini-Towers with quick-effect removal that pops your shit while summoning itself on YOUR turn. The game is in a horrible, horrible state, where, like EMEm and DRulers, the best deck isn't just the best deck, it's a deck so everpresent and oppressive that those are the ONLY decks you see. Even the shitters can play budget Zoo, or just play Dinos (who are still chock full of 1-card plays because of Oviraptor and UCT).

What I mean is, half the Kaiju have quick effects. If you give your opponent a Gameciel, Gadarla, or Kumongous, they'll just use your counters on you and fuck you over. The other Kaiju have much higher ATK, so if you give them those, chances are you can't run it over. The only solution I can think of is Capture Mission, but Gameciel stops that too.

And things get even more confusing when you can only control one at a time. Gameciel honestly seems like shit in the context of pure Kaiju.

To get the most out of Gameciel you typically run other things with it, like Grand Mole and Fairy Tail Luna to get rid of your opponent's Kaiju. The Kaiju Files also works by swapping your opponent's Kaiju for a defense position Dogoran or Thunder King which Gameciel can attack over. Jizukiru is pretty good to sit on though with 3300 ATK and a powerful anti-targeting effect. But yeah you will need to run some other stuff because otherwise the deck will be too slow just sitting on 1 Kaiju.

Almost the time you use Jizukiru as your main Kaiju and give shit like Radian or Dogoran to your opponent because they can't activate effects in your turn, then you destroy them by battle or return them to your hand with some effect.

You can try using Thunder King for OTKs too.

Lets say you have a magibullet, and then play upstart goblin. IF your opponent destroy upstart goblin with mst then your magibullet monster will not activate. The text "You can add 1 Magibullet card with a different name from that activated card" means if the card you played (upstart goblin) is not face up (because of mst) then your magibullet monster effect will not activate.


Caspar is the best card by far. 2-card combo and can fuel all your future plays if your opponent cannot answer it.

Magibullet shooter star. Can special caspar from deck. Slower but gets the best searchers. Star needs 1 card, then you need 1 more card to trigger caspar. 3 card combo.

The kid. Discard 1 bullet to draw 2. Obscenely garbage. Only used because it is a ties of brethen target for caspar. because it has to discard bullet, it only fixes hands with many bullets for 2 random draws. Consider the bullets spell/traps are your defensive cards its counterproductive to the whole decks strategy. You want your ammo in the hand. 3 card combo that burns your bullets. the random draw 2 is too luck dependent to protect it on your opponents turn.

Doctor. Recycler. terrible starter but it helps you grind and run a smaller bullet count. really only used for ties of brethren target for caspar.

wild. shuffle 3 in graveyard for 1 draw. obscenely garbage. strictly worse doctor not to mention edgy art.

calamity. SS from grave. another terrible starter and to trigger that magibullet SS from grave you need another card. 3 card combo brick. complete shit.

zamiel is a "fair" spellbook of judgment except you draw random cards instead of search the cards you need. another shitty card.

The deck is caspar.combo its far too gimmicky right now. Unless your opponent is a complete dumbass and triggers your magibullets for you then this deck has no chance.
