Okay here's the deal. If your grail will make your character hit much harder with a NP, it's worth doing even if it's just a 1 star character you like. If it doesn't, it's not worth doing. Grailing meme 3 stars is fine as long as they have an offensive NP that benefits from it.
Grails are wasted if you're using them on characters that don't benefit at all, like waver or Jeanne. A grail on Jeanne does exactly nothing. What's the difference between a level 100 Jeanne and level 90 Jeanne? Or a level 100 waver and level 90 waver? The level number. They both hit like wet noodles and tank about the same amount of damage.

Use your grails on Jeanne Alter all you want if you have her and use her, but when you say "they do their specialized roles just fine as it is." - the same applies to Jeanne Alter. She works just fine without grails. You don't NEED to grail her to use her. She doesn't magically turn to shit from having 1000 less atk/hp. That's a non argument.

The only characters you NEED to grail to use well are Asterios and Arash. Asterios because he needs those extra hit points to survive due to his low hp and Berserker class and without grailing it' can be damn hard to keep him alive long enough to multi-stack his NP, and Arash because the extra hit points help him survive long enough to overcharge his NP. Beyond those two though none of the characters NEED to be grailed to use them.

1 grail on 3 star is 5 levels. 4 grails takes a 3 star to level 90.
That's 20 levels out of 4 grails.
You get 10 levels out of 5 grails with a 5 star.
Also grail levels are linear so all characters get the same exact benefit from them. 10 grail levels is 10 grail levels. Same stat increase from character to character. Which means you get double the stats on a 3 star for 1 grail less.

Like I said, use your grails on Jeanne Alter all you want redditor, but don't be delusional about the benefits. It doesn't magically give her better stats than to anyone else just because she has 5 stars. It's the same stat gain per level.
