Leagues better than Celceta, and it's a big improvement over Seven also. But if you didn't like Celceta because of the party system or something, don't expect VIII to change your mind. It mainly has a more intriguing and better-used premise than the past two games, plus elements from the mid-2000s games reintroduced in a way that helps the story and flow of combat/exploration (like actual jumping and Dana's solo story bits). Game looks great on PS4/PC (and impressive for a Vita title), sounds very nice as usual, and lets you pace things better than before. There's also better writing overall, from the main cast to defined and developed NPCs who have unique sub-quests.

Anon also forgot to mention you can use multiple tiers of the same stat buff quartz in different lines, i.e. Attack 3 in one line and Attack 2 in another.
This is especially useful for Evade quartz.

Don't forget that high tier spells are pretty viable now too since you can stack Cast 1/Cast 2 and bring down their cast times down to reasonable levels before you start doing Fire Bolt/Luminous Ray spam at the very end.

Action stacking is somewhat useful for slow characters as well since usually Action 3 alone isn't enough to get them to decent speed stats.

No anon, its about give and take. Casters get single/double line augments because they get more EP to cast their spells more often and in games that use sepith count to use a wider variety of spells.

Physical characters with 3/4 lines trade a wide spell pool and ep count to be able to increase their stats and add extra ailments/stat drops to make them do their job better.

Zin/Mueller/Agate/Tita/etc still aren't going to cast even if they can fill out all of their slots because their stat lines don't lend themselves to it anyway.

How are you supposed to beat Sigmund Orlando? I know that you're supposed to just survive but it seems to be possible. For contrast I had 0 problems beating Arios at the end of chapter 4.

The time limit is how much time you have to get max DP (+5), and you get varying numbers if the timer runs out with him still alive but with lower HP, and if you lose the story still moves forward but you win no extra DP.

Worth mentioning that ZCF had to invent and produce military airships/Orbalships good enough to execute the plan Cassius had in mind, and that was a huge risk for Russell and the rest of Zeiss. They shoulder a lot of credit for saving the country as well.

Cassius wasn't able to save his wife and hometown, and the script's tone in SC's intro (before Prologue) works against him when he's shooting down Estelle for trying to find Joshua and confront the Society. He's not perfect, even if he is ridiculously skilled and strategic.

The main power source for the tank thing in Chapter 3 was the Arseille's engine and they used the Gospel to force the shutdown phenomenon.
