The letters mean a-ru-to-ri-a.
The problem is Japanese doesn't differentiate between L and R. SO it can be read as a-lu-to-li-a or some retard combo like that.
Add the fact that their phonetics all have a vowel attached to every consonant and you have a huge mess. Both Altria and Arturia are technically correct. But Arturia is closer to Arthur so yeah. I assume it was a localization fuckup that was too much of a hassle to fix so they made it official.

Is there any place I can reliably find Assassin gems? According to the wiki any bronze or silver assassin enemies drop them, but the Monster Hunting dailies only have riders and berserkers as the final wave boss and the drop rates off the weaker enemies seem poor.

If you read what I said, and check the enemy list you'd realize that it's not a 1/3 guaranteed drop chance because in all the current Monster Hunter dailies for the Caster/Raider/Assassin/Berserker rotation the final wave enemy which has the guaranteed drop is only ever a rider, caster, or berserker. The Steam port is good. The new gamepad support works really well. Fair warning, Hard mode is just a stat wall. Even the first level recommends level 16 but you can't level past 7 during the battle. Still it's a Musou, so if you know what you're doing you can just spam Extella attacks.

It's worth noting that you aren't going to need a lore for a while, and that most likely you will end up having more lores than you will need. In JP I still have 20 or so despite maxing most of my favourite Servants skills. I also skipped a ton of lores because I was too lazy to grab them from event shops.

That said it's still better than Nightless rose
