So do you guys think they'll finally get a console Sims right or is it going to be another buggy, watered-down shitfest like TS3 was? They have no real reason why they can't make the game comparable to the PC version anymore. That excuse worked on the PS2, but a PS4 is easily comparable in specs to a PC that could run it flawlessly. Also, bring back the online features from Bustin' Out.

You know what I miss? Monte Vista, Lunar Lakes, Starlight Shores and Midnight Hollow. I don't even think I can blame the Sim 4 devs for this, they're working with a gimped engine because it was meant to be online until SimCity 20013 failed. Though I CAN blame them for the glacier rate of releases considering they're now going with 'one expansion a year', apparently.

My theory is that EA predicted TS3's store would be a massive money maker, so they pumped tons of financing into that game hoping to make a massive amount of scratch. Since their pricing system sucked and there was so much better CC out there for free, it didn't do as well as they'd hoped. The Sims Gurus have stated that their budget is paper fucking thin this time around and the game really shows it, so it kinda feels like EA decided to give us a reworked mobile game that was already in the works then slap the TS4 logo on it to save money, throw us a few odd little expansions here and there. It really feels like EA is trying to phase it out just like they did with C&C. Which is odd since The Sims really has no competition. If EA can't make a successful mobile game, they won't keep investing in it. I think they know the soccer moms who play would rather play on a tablet of phone.

I can't blame the Gurus, it's pretty clear they're doing what they can. Game development is complex so obviously there's no competition. So I imagine EA is just sorta 'well fuck this didn't turn out as expected'. They're just sorta paddling instead of doing breaststroke like other games. And back to the subject, I don't know what even could be after all these years. The Sims is it for this kind of game. Fact of the matter is, a simulation game takes an insane amount of work that most developers won't even dare to take on. I guess I've been hitting the vodka too hard but I really can't see anyone trying to compete because the Sims is just such a massive endeavor that even though we make light of it, the amount of manpower simply doesn't exist anymore like it did in 2 and 3.

It WASN'T, it was a fine game but... it didn't even come close to SimCity and people hailed Cities:Skylines because it was DIFFERENT. But it didn't come close to SimCity. And after the failure of 2013... I bought it last year. It was actually a lot of fun once you took out the network issues and had a lot more going on than Cities: Skylines. And that SUCKS. I really did want something to surpass it.
