It's all about encouraging players to play the game more often and to spread them out among the modes. This is why map and mode rotations. This is why Splatfests. This is why SR is limited.

If SR became 24/7 there would almost immediately become a fracture in the playerbase based along PvE and PvP. Same for any of the ranked modes. People would inevitably choose a comfort zone and remain there and the game would suffer for it.

Is it me or do the majority of ranked battles end in KOs now? The tower in Tower Control seems to go much faster, even with the checkmark stopgaps. It wasn't like that before in the first Splatoon.

Also, do you even get more experience if you win with a higher rank? It seems like the experience is the same regardless of which rank you are in, which sucks because it's taking forever for me to grind to my Luna Blaster.

The point of ranked is that you must separate yourself from shitters. Yes, you will lose a lot because of terrible teammates. But this is a good thing. Eventually you will pull out ahead of them, and leave them behind.

Ranked seems to be far more forgiving in S2 than in S1 from what I remember.

I didn't get to S+ with Aero. I did it with diferent weapons first Tri-Slosher Nouveau, then with H3D and Neo Sloshmo and then occasionally used Aero in S+, mostly for fun. I was mostly sir inkalot with them, with MG- also deep infiltrator and general annoyance; avoided fair encounters like plague and relied on stealth and distraction to rid of important targets like snipers instead. Never lost a rank wielding these two.
Also, Tentatek inks like shit, and it's one of the better inkers in the meta, beaten only by slow-ass Dynamo and bubbleshit Zimi.

S2's meta isn't a thing yet.

Use common sense in most cases. The most you should do is figure out which gear and sub abilities your favorite weapons favor. Blaster is great in TC because it can kill everybody who's on the tower in two shots. Splatling is great in Splatzones because it hoses shitloads of ink at a very long range and can defend itself.

Blaster might want Ink Efficiency perks. Splatling might want Ink Resist and Run Speed. Charger? Maybe you'd like to stack some sub-defense so people can't clear your out of your nests with just a simple grenade? I like to run respawn punisher with Charger.

I bought the game today but haven't been able to play turf war at all. My switch says it's connected and in the hub area, it appears I'm online. I can even see when my friend is online. If I ever try to join a game it just searches for a bit and brings up a communications error. Am I missing something? Or is there some kind of problem? I just want to play.
