Practice raw hfbs. 6hs hfb 6hs hfb 5hs hfb 2s hfb, 5s hfb, any random button to hfb in midst of blockstrings so you can do it at random. Once you can do that even 3\4 of the time you are good to basic 6k loops which are all easily 200 - 260+ damage range with or without rc.

Common mistake is not to buffer 6k early enough during rc and another one is not knowing the time to charge. Especially up close in loops you have to cancel it quite late because you don't have the charge, while any long-ish 2d rrc into 6k hfb is stupidly easy because you have all the time in the world to charge.

Honda and Ganryu are just characters with their moves. Taka's heavy actually comes into play in the game, some throws have different animations on him because he weights so much that they either completely fail or they are reduced in effect. Other moves may have different properties against him alone, for example some moves that normally launch may not launch on him.

Potemkin is alright but his biggest issue is you will level up somewhat slowly. Basic damage output isn't too hard and your mixups are kinda decent in their simplicity, but against anyone who knows a bit more you may not get that many chances to hit anything consistently and optimising 6k loops borderlines nightmare until you have enough experience and grind it a bit out in the training.

If you don't mind potentially slow progress he's perfectly fine.

You can set Up to jump and then reasonable controls like Blazblue. Time to dive in, there are more moves than I thought after I saw the movelists. It takes my HRAP4K no problem and menus feel nice. It's a bit shit in the character select because frame rate is capped at 99 and models take a little to load.

SFV made some weird decisions and has pretty bad netcode but it will probably have a character you enjoy playing anyways. Make sure you scum your way through character story modes and easy trials to get a couple of DLC characters that look interesting to you
