I was around G2.10 before the FD patch, never ever killed/assisted anybody with a charge rifle (it was level 1, zero exp).
That game mode gives crazy amounts of exp.

How many kills does it take to get a killing spree?
I've been farming for warpaints on titans but I haven't been able to dig up a definite answer.

You are the last line of defense for the harvester. Park your ass in front of it and gun down any Titans, Reapers, drones and grunts that try to get close. You should rely on the rest of your team to roam out and find those mortar teams, assuming you don't leave your auto-Titan in guard mode and go launch Archers at the mortars yourself.

That was indeed the average change back during the HTTK tests: Pilot fights lasted longer because guns needed an average of one more bullet than usual to score a kill. That said, I'm not seeing nearly as many countersnipes by SMGs nowadays, not least because of the shoddy accuracy and minimal damge. SMGs are short/mid-range weapons anyway, and those ranges are what got slapped around by the nerf bat.

They're small and fast, they can run the corner around the tower on homestead before your power shot charges up, plus it's a waste of a power shot which is better spent on titans or clumps of reapers.

Smart core is in my opinion better spent on hordes of enemies like reapers because it can kill them quickly while against Titans it just cuts out a reload or two during a firefight.

Actual Nerfs. G2A5 has less Near damage (still a 3 hit but will drop to 4 at a closer distance) and less RoF. 201/101 got slight changes, but all ARs and SMGs got hit by reductions in aim assist so players shooting them at you shouldn't be as robotically accurate with them.

Northstar with piercing shot doesn't even compare to the raw DPS that Legion can when your back is against the wall.

However, Northstar is fast, making you great at hunting Mortars, and playing whack-a-mole on various threats that your pub teammates refuse to pay attention to. Your ability to "poptart" angles with a fully charged railgun shot, explosive tether trap, and cluster missile is greatly improved since the AI, unlike a team of human players, won't instantly laser-focus you the moment you hit Viper Thrusters for the jump. Same with Flight Core - doing a large amount of total damage over an extended period of time is actually viable in FD. Aggresively combine your Electric Smoke with your tether drops for huge burst damage.

tl;dr Legion can rack up big dick numbers on the scoreboard but Northstar is still amazing.

You can move so easily on flat surfaces. Boost into a slide hop, strafe for speed and turning. You can gain more speed with grapple, stim, satchels, frags, or gstars if you can't find a wall. On hard and master difficulty arc titans are a fucking nightmare. They move so goddamn fast and take very little damage because they sword block. And the only time they aren't sword blocking is when they melee. And if you're in melee range of them you are fucking frying.

For FD, how do you guys play with your titan? I usually leave Scorch near the objective while I also assist near the objective. Slowly venturing out when needed. If I am hunting mortar titans, I sometimes tell Scorch to follow me for backup if needed.

You have no defence option so you need to think ahead and try and chip the down from strange positions. If there's no such position available just try peek a boom, charge your shot, dash out shoot and dash back. Don't aim the shot too much just flick it at them and get back in cover. Use clusters to prevent rush downs or get some free damage in now and then and use your core to either push on an isolated and weakens titan or as your oh shit button if someone closes the distance.

She's really good, you just have to play in a very different way to everyone else. Positioning is key.

Oddly enough, this problem disappears when playing Frontier Defense and I get a ping of 16-20 ms.

I think the issue is that if there aren't enough players in your data centers Respawn will progressively link you to further and further ones to find other players. Apparently people playing in Hong Kong will sometimes end up in West Coast American servers with 500~ ping because of this.

I don't know why FD is the exception, maybe everyone in my area started playing TF2 again just to play FD? Or maybe there are separate servers/DCs for FD that are closer to me? Who knows.

Northstar doesn't have a "i fucked up let's block the damage" button, you need to play perfectly or get deleted. Don't spend too much time aiming you shot, it's more important to take it quickly and avoid damage than trading. If you miss but don't get shot in return it's okay, you can just use you speed to reposition and try again. The longer you keep this going the more impatient they get and the more you can punish them.
