Different thing happened with Mighty No. 9,
which is delay = instant release.
And the result?
A shitty game or shall we say,
Mighty No. 2.

As for AC7, while it is certain that the gameplay, graphics, and story will be awesome, optimization is a thing that should be worried about.

This triple threat tactical fighter-bomber (with a big emphasis on the bomber) has almost as many gun kills as the F-8E had total kills. So much for the 'last gunfighter.'

I have an old & slow PC, a PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360. What do?
Do I buy an XBox One, a PS4, or build a nice gaming rig PC? I don't know where to spend my money for AC7. Which will let me feel the rush of superior air power?
Actually, which platform are most people gonna play on anyway? There was a straw poll up here a few months ago, but I forgot to look at the results. I'd just go with that one.

Didn't they pull it from frontline service because it kept getting dropped by MiG shitpencils? Sad, it's an awesome airframe.
>>
>>183855389
PC is a safe bet as you can already play all of the other mainline games. there's a chance that the game will have crossplay with xbone and PC if it's win10 exclusive.
>>
>>183855479
Actually the official balance is 27.5 Victories vs 17 aerial defeats. According to a book I have, one F-105 allegedly scored an aerial kill on a MiG-17 with 750lb bombs.

They did get murdered by AAA and SAMs though, but from that the US developed wild weasel missions, so their sacrifice was not entirely in vain.
>>
>>183855694
PC seems to be a good choice, yeah.
I wonder what sort of system requirements will be necessary for the game to run smooth though. I guess it's time go go shopping for a good video cards, processor, etc.
>>
>>183855479
Also if you want to talk about poor showings in vietnam, there's always the F-5. The only modern USAF aircraft I can think off of the top of my head without a positive kill ratio.
>>
>>183856257
Maybe on par with Tekken 7 or Strike Vector EX as both utilize Unreal Engine 4.

Or maybe you can use Project Wingman to make an estimation out of it.
>>
>>183857848
How many F-5s did they send to Vietnam? It doesn't come to mind as one of the workhorses like the Phantom, Crusader, or even the Hun.
>>
>>183858752
Initially 12 were deployed, of which 9 were shot down. 7 to AA and 2 to MiGs. Eventually 17 in total were in country. It was decided that it wasn't worth it to return the aircraft to the USA, so they were turned over to the south Vietnamese airforce for the remainder of the conflict. These USAF models, and a number sold directly from Northrop, would be captured by the North Vietnamese and turned over to the soviets for study. The south vietnamese government wanted F-4s, but the less advanced F-5s presented less of a risk in terms of technology leakage (a good precaution as it turned out), and better suited to short range low and slow ground support and were within the technical capabilities of the VNAF to operate without direct USAF oversight.

Well putting aside the numerous and varied problems and deficiencies of the F-5, for a cheapo plane it doesn't look half bad. Better than the Typhoon at least.

Precisionista is the admin of the /aceg/ Discord server, he keeps track of everything you publicly say and do. Most people don't like him and he's too egoistical and full of himself to acknowledge that fact.
>>
>>183880479
im not entirely in the know myself since ive only been around a couple of months, but afaik a while back /aceg/ made a steam group filled with members which began to distance themselves from the original general further and further until they were two separate entities
they eventually made a discord, using that while the steam group died and never returned, with anyone entering the discord supposedly getting doxed, which is unconfirmed, although they could just mean Prec, the ring leader of all this shit, writing down everything we say for later reference, which is confirmed and is some high grade autism imo

Just finished watching Last Exile. What a ride. I somehow guessed the way the world was shaped early on. I consume too much sci-fi.
That ending gave me some Ar Tonelico nostalgia rush due to some weird mental associations of mine, likely due to the Exile's purpose and activation reminding me of Metafalica and Infel Phira.
I can't help but cringe at the memory of some of the airship designs in Ar Tonelico, such as pic related, a platinan design. Those in the second game look better, but they could use some work.

The Ar Tonelico airships are indeed overinginered, considering the "disk" is both the power plant (actually just a receiver for the wireless power system) and a lift generation device capable of moving it's axis of thrust around to some extent (at very least it can thrust the aircraft forward, make it hover in place and make it back away). The wings are only there as control surfaces that don't require as much power to use as completely changing the vector of thrust provided by the disk.

Last Exile battleship designs are much neater, pic related being a good example. I'd still give Vanships (small fighters/hot rods) wings, but they generate lift by making a substance known as "claudia" flow through piping along the frame.

It's one of the best and most underrated RTS in my opinion. The campaign does a good job of setting the atmosphere and getting you invested in the characters. And the level of carnage you can achieve on-screen (especially with the No Hope mod) at times is WH40K tier. Not to mention it is pretty.
Though, like any game it has its fair share of small grievances on my part; one of them being that the aircraft you get from calling in strikes aren't actually objects and can't be damaged, so you get scenes like an F-15 flying through multiple nuclear detonations without a scratch.
>>
>>183883820
WIC is actually probably up there in my top 10 non ace combat games of all time. The story and campaign have great story telling.
It was actually quite effective at balancing difficulty with dramatic tension, Pine Valley, Seattle.

Also despite the ridiculousness of it, the opening cinematic will never not get me hyped.

Plus the game is so beautiful, I like just setting my camera on a unit, zooming in, and watching them do their thing.

Great game for sure, underrated as fuck and it even came with a SDK. Modern Warfare is another fun as fuck mod once you get the hang of it (and after disabling the support role for the AI else you're going to get steamrolled during the entire round - JTACs are also broken as fuck if strategically placed in hidden spots).

On the other news, what are the opinions on having colored backgrounds with logos? I also threw in a Data Swallow logo for the sake of it.

Heresy warning: tbqh, the splinter pattern feels quite haphazardy, unlike other splinter patterns I've reproduced so far. Is it just me?

I don't deny it looks great, but it feels less orderly than other ones, where you can make out a pattern in the shapes, while this one lacks that "consistency".
I don't think it's bad, it just feels different to paint and I was remarking on that feel.

going back to something discussed in the last thread, ive managed to figure out where PJ comes into it when Pixy had his 'little' mental breakdown was and its context
its likely meant to be played at the ending of The Inferno after all objectives are complete, and im unsure if Eagle Eye speaks although it seems like it but im gonna scan a few more radio transmission video and possibly dig up his voice lines to check
>Pixy: AWACS, our mission.
>[possible AWACS quote]
>Pixy: Our mission, our job.
>[possible AWACS quote]
>Pixy: PJ, what is our mission?
>PJ: Pixy, what do you-
>Pixy: What have we done?
>PJ: Huh?
>Pixy: This is, our mission? Is this what our mission is? What is our mission?
imo it fit a lot better than Pixy's whole "war is bad, get used to it" speech for PJ only for him to suddenly go "fuck war, lets v2 borders" when its actually considering he was watching his homeland, and considering how much he's freaking out possibly even his hometown, being indiscriminately bombed

All PS2 Ace Combat games emulate perfectly if you have the specs to back the emulation .

Run AC04 in software mode (iirc, otherwise it's hardware mode), it fixes the black aircraft and various graphical bugs.

Why would you give up because of that?

That said the XR900 is a drone IIRC. You were in the XFA, remote controlling it, while probably putting the XFA on follow me mode. That mission was trippy though.

You are correct about the twist though. But that should be clearer on the Dision route IIRC, but I haven't completed that one yet.

The Geopelia are all unmanned drones, hence why the hack works and why it is revealed to be empty.

So are the PSP games running with a 60FPS cap that it struggles to meet or is it a locked 30? If it's the latter, using PPPSSPP wouldn't change anything, even if you enable an overclock.

>>183950265
I'm not sure, I should clarify I have never played the PSP games on an emulator as I have only seen footage of it on youtube where the video is running at 60 FPS. It could just be the interpolation and no the game, sorry about that.

Sometimes AH really felt like Ace Combat.

But then you fail the mission 10 times because you don't do as much damage to the bombers without DFM.

But fuck me that soundtrack is so good. I just can't hate AH. Somewhere deep down, it does have a soul.

I actually felt something when the Trinity bomb detonated in Moscow and this track came in.

The Raiden series is great. The lastest one (IV, iirc) was a letdown though.

>>184005951
It's a game that needs to be memorized to be cleared. Unless you're lucky enough to guess how to get past every trick the game has, you will die a lot and you have to learn from those mistakes, which is why it belongs to the "memorizer" genre.
The series is still quite fair, with relatively few completely unanounced dangers, unlike some others in the subgenre.

I don't know, a lot of the ones I went through have one or two really good tracks, and the rest is kinda forgettable. Truxton for example has a top tier first track, but I can't remember anything else of it. Then again I suppose the first track is the one you're going to hear the most.
I think a lot of the tracks aren't hype enough in a lot of those games for lack of a better term. I just want to feel Air Combat tier happy when blowing shit up.
But yeah, overall shmups tend to be pretty good on the soundtracks

That said I recently came across this thing and I wish it had more tracks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_DnpZdJ_yY

I was thinking of starting to collect the physical copies of the games: how much is too much for a game? For example I found AC2 JP for ~13 euros, is that a deal or a steal? Am I a fool for buying the japanese versions of the games since they're the same as the international releases (with the exception of 3)?
>>
>>184087151
13 euros is a bargain, but watch the shipping costs. I'd say buying two copies of the same game is pointless, but some might disagree and tell you to also seek out every version of the AC5 cover.
It depends on how much money you're willing to spend and how far you want to take your collectathlon.
>>
>>184087151
I paid a bit much, 20 for 2 and 3, but everything here is expensive. They are also great games so I don't mind it too much. Which is usually how I judge prices for old games.

That said if you are lucky you can probably find some for a 5er or so.

The covers may be different on the jap ones, and you'll need a console to play them on that supports them, PS1 and 2 are region locked IIRC. I don't see a reason to get them in jap though except for maybe the novelty of jap 3, which i haven't found yet.
>>
>>184087824
20 each that is. But also what >>184087664 said.
>>
>>184087824
Well, I don't have a PS2 yet, so the PS2 games would've have been more for collectionism sake. PSX I'm fine with any region since my console is modified.

I'll be looking a bit at the prices now, and try to get the best deal outta them I guess
>>
>>184088210
In general I don't think Ace Combat is too expensive. Unless you want to look for the arcade games or something.
Anything from the PSX onwards is reasonable.

Except maybe Zero for 80.- on amazon.

So I get that AC3 is supposed to be a simulation, but when is that actually revealed? the ending I got didn't say anything about it, and what is the purpose of said simulation?
>>
>>184066638
guys?
>>
>>184093802
No clue, but it's still a while off. IIRC steam pages appear at the most a few months from release or when preorders start.
>>
>>184093217
There are 5 different endings, once you get through them all you get, after the credits, the true ending where it is revealed that you're an AI running a simulation
>>
>>184093217
pretty sure you have to finish every route in the same profile using each of the files to hold the final mission save for their respective routes to see the true ending

the simulation was a test by Cohen to see (think at least, everything in the game is vague as fuck even with the translation) if he could engineer a single pilot to be a god like ace based on the experiences they're placed in and if that pilot would be able to kill AI Dision during each possible outcome of the simulation, which is proven to be perform able in every route
with the simulation proving it possible, he deletes Nemo (or releases him into the real world, unsure) and likely engineers the circumstances to create the war and thus kill off AI Dision
>>
>>184094036
You're right, it's pretty vague even with the translation, but iirc the simulation actually serves to kill off Abyssal Dision from the Electrosphere, after which Simon purges Nemo from the Electrosphere too.
>>
>>184094269
>dude why the fuck are you starting a war
>this one fucker cucked me
>>
>>184094036
How's he suppossed to kill Dision if the pilot who did it isn't real?
>>
>>184094559
i'll just drop the spoilers
it was designed as a test to see if it was possible to kill AI Dision through a war, with all routes of the war successfully killing him and thus proving it was possible, with Nemo being a test to see if AI could be capable pilots as well as see if the circumstances and experiences around a pilot shape their skill to be unrivaled
with that he likely engineered the circumstances to actually cause the Usean Corporate War and eventually Dision's death
>>
>>184094036
>murder Dision on the Dision and Cynthia routes too
Well I clearly need to finally play them to see how that happens
>>
>>184094559
Because Dision was Sublimated by his scientist friend/lover, becoming part of the Electrosphere: Nemo is an AI, made by Simon Cohen (Neucom scientist cucked by Dision), that is running a simulation in which Dision is killed in each ending, thus managing to actually wipe off Abyssal Dision from the Electrosphere.
>>
In all honesty there are different versions regarding the ending: there's who says that after running the simulation Nemo is released in the Electrosphere so that the Corporate War can begin and be able to kill Abyssal Dision under all calculated circumstances and who says that the simulation is the actual mean through which Abyssal Dision is killed and Nemo is deleted since it served its purpose.
From what I recall in the true ending, after Simon explains the whole simulation thing the visual switches to a command-line interface where Simon proceeds to purge Nemo.
>>
>>184095230
I like this idea that Simon just made Nemo for this revenge and put Dision into what is effectively a game. There is no war or anything IRL, it's all just made up fluff to make Nemo do its thing.
>>
>>184095230
i believe it was clearer in the original Jap acting that all characters within the simulation were AI copies, including the copy of the AI Dision himself, although the idea that Cohen is constantly letting Nemo kill Dision over and over just as a form of getting back at him is funny as fuck
its still vague as fuck regarding Nemo's end to the story, as its scattered mentions of him being purged from the electrosphere but also 'released into the world'
>>
It's kinda sad that the characters I grew to like aren't real in the game and my character just gets wiped away from existence
>>
>>184094373
To be fair, it wasn't as bad as the time the Eruseans turned an Earth Defense weapon into a super weapon that could destroy planes from countries away, speaking of which, I wonder if Aces like Mobius One made into Usean history books
>>
>>184096380
considering the only ace that is said to have been covered up majorly was Cipher, its likely the rest of the player characters such as Phoenix, Mobius One and the rest became internationally famed for their actions in every continent, not just Usea's
>>
>>184095747
again, it's indeed vague as fuck, but I'm pretty sure that in the ending the commands written in the terminal are for deleting the Nemo Project
>>
>>184096541
>Cipher
>Covered up
>When he has an entire documentary about him
>Wardog
>Fake their own deaths and conduct operations against a country that Osea isn't at war with
>Not covered up
Sometimes I think you act retarded on purpose gigi.
>>
>>184096103
They are real in your heart.
>>
>>184096907
considering it took 10 years for anyone outside the pilots that saw him themselves to even learn of his actions, including the entirety of AWWNBs while it only took a couple of weeks flying as Razgriz Squadron to start hearing HEY ARE THOSE THE 4 WINGS OF SAND ISLAND", i think Cipher was covered up much more efficiently
>>
>>184097071
That's not a cover up, that's a lack of information.
>>
>>184097745
pretty sure its mentioned that the whole thing with AWWNBs was concealed while most of the Belkan War documents were sealed away with Cipher's existence within them being reduced to his codename, 'Demon' as mentioned in the intro
its also likely that most of the info regarding Cipher was scrubbed away entirely considering Pixy's mercenary and employment info was still available 10 years after his defection while there was barely anything on Cipher, not even a name
>>
>>184097952
Everything involving AWWNB was covered up yes, but Cipher's "astounding achievements" during the war were documented well enough that Brett forgot about his job to study it all
>>
>>184098284
also consider that it took 10 years before those documents regarding the Belkan War were declassified with Cipher's presence in them being reduced to his codename while little mention of what he actually was, with most of the documents and info regarding Cipher were mentioned as being gained through Brett's old military friends and the aces who fought him

Hardly at all. Though if you want a bit of insight into why Osea is involved in Usea, you might want to play Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy for the 3DS. Or at least watch the intro video

I think I'm already growing to like Sky Keeper. He reminds me of Magic from Assault Horizon, who was just about the only good thing about that game

Now I'm currently watching Aho Girl. So far it's good.
However, I'm trying to look into more military action anime that is semi-realistic. Even if the setting has fantasy elements in it, at least the heroes utilize realistic equipment like Gate.

Erusea vs. Belka, both countries at peak strength. Erusea has Stonehenge, plus the Yellows, while Belka has Excalibur, plus all ace squadrons on Mercenary, so Rot, Gelb, and Schwarze. Who gets loses and threatens to destroy the entire world afterwards?

stonehenge has very limited range (doesn't even cover the whole usean continent) and can be avoided simply by flying below a certain threshold. whereas excalibur has theoretically unlimited range. this alone makes it a no contest scenario, no need to argue yellow squadron vs. all 9 of zero's ace squadrons.

Do the calculations for the escape velocity for a standard 203mm HE artillery shell of your choice, then take a moment to contemplate what it would take to get the shell to that velocity (note that you are technically in middle orbit by 600 miles up, and assume that your objective is to create a circular orbiting shell)
>>
>>184226504
gravity is one of the reasons stonehenge can fire so far in-atmosphere. basically the shots are slung around using the planet's gravity. the cannons are already firing at a very high angle to begin with.

AC5 would have been better off ending at mission 27. It has a beautiful opening with the pilots banding together and singing. Great radio chatter throughout the mission. The first half of the mission is fun and chaotic while the second half is like an even better version of AC4's finale.

Mission 28 however
>"Dude, this huge satellite is going to btfo our capital if it isn't stopped soon, so let's only send a 4 man squad and no one else lmao"
>starts with ~3 minutes of nothing but holding R1 with very little dialogue
>fighting a bunch of no-name enemies from squads you've already fought several times
>dialogue so corny that it goes past the point of being enjoyable camp
>taking down the satellite is a joke and can be done in a couple minutes if you don't have horrid missile timing
It was so flaccid.
>>
>>184291382
I love this meme
>fail once if ever
>never again because you know the rhythm of the mission and Chopper fucking up
Incredible difficulty. Meanwhile there's White Noise or Aces which are actually sort of hard.

The flight physics are heavier in AC04 and dogfighting as a result is a bit harder and more effort is required. Stalling is also more likely to occur.

You are also able to shoot down enemies in AC5 with one missile on normal as opposed to two. It's just designed to be easier.

>>184291431
The Zellow squadrons at Megalith and Farbanti are actuallz prettz difficult to fight in comparison to the ones zou fight in 5 and 0, although the latter has the Sorcerer squadron which is similarly challenging.
>>
>>184303765
>use XAAMs
>enemy squadron reduced to 2 because they're too stupid to evade
