Just because it's not Capcom doesn't mean it won't be bad. If you have to constantly compare yourself to current Capcom games to make another game sound good, then it's certainly a shit game.

they're not as bad as Alex and Juri but you have to play them much differently than the rest of the cast. Ed is very backdash reliant and sometimes you have to deal with getting a poke as a punish because the range might not be comboable and you'll eat shit on whiff. Kolin is queen of the stubby normals but you have to get people scared to press buttons

Kolin's great but only if you really know the game and it's systems well, and Ed is honestly too new to accurately judge but he has a major problem where he can't confirm specials off his cr. Medium kick past a certain range. Honestly aside from the Shittastic Four (Alex, Juri, F.A.N.G., and Ryu to an extent) any character is viable and playable with enough practice. Easily the most balanced SF

He's better online because you might not be able to react to it but all his other shit is heavily punishable and easily reactable. This seems like the most straightforward fix to me. You also get rid of a semi-clunky subsystem if you do this, so it simplifies and buffs the character at the same time. Pretty good.

It might also be better if charging weren't something you had to do at distance. They clearly don't want Juri just standing at range tossing fuhajins anymore, so why make that the best range for charging up your specials? If it were something she could do up close to keep her pressure going maybe?

first off, the story mode is just an OVA there's nothing to play; if you want you can play Arcade since each character plays out what they were doing prior to story starting

blocking doesn't necessarily means that you're losing but usually you want the other person blocking. in GG neutral isn't whiffing pokes until something connects into setup, but rather using block strings or pokes to apply pressure on your opponent, cornering them or opening them up, then cashing out on the RISC meter
naturally you want to be on the offense, and by any means necessary avoiding the corner. apply pressure>open up>oki>rinse and repeat

In a game where taking a combo can seriously fuck you up because of damage + oki setup afterwards, and a game with a good half dozen system mechanics that exist entirely to make defending aesier, you need to be able to combo off overhead and throws.

If you couldn't, that means that when I block high I'm choosing to block taking one hit worth of damage that's only like a 10th/20th of my total health vs blocking a low that leads into a combo that does way more damage, the game would break apart because there would be no reason to just downback the entire game.

Besides, not every character can combo off throws or has a non dust overhead (which are slow and literally glow to make it easier on the defender), which means that characters can have additional ways they contrast with eachother than "this guy has range" and "this guy does a lot of damage" and similar stuff

It sound like the opponent notice your pattern and figure out how to get in. It's better to play defensive mixed with some offensive to get a knock down then start your own pressure. You want to kinda weave in and out to look for an opening. It is possible that your defense isn't on point yet so you fall as soon as the opponent manage to get in once. Some characters do play defensively better than others. Which character do you play?

Blocking isn't neccessarily bad and there are many move that should be block and punished. However, you shouldn't let opponent rush right to your face in neutral and apply full pressure. That put you in a bad position. You should be challenge such move from your opponent.
