Yo, you may see me posting Mei pics here but this time I'm just here asking for advices from people. I'm stuck in Gold-plat (a range about 2450-2500) but I either climb or fall. My main is Mei, but the only times where I used her as a fixed spot was in high-plat/diamond when some friends took me to play with them.
Although my main is situational, I've been playing lots of other heroes (although Mei is the one I'm best at, given her handicaps), so my question is:
I can play Pharah, Sombra, Tracer (my aim isn't good but my tracking is, that's why I chose her), Mei (main), D.Va, Winston, Lucio and Zenyatta. In some very rare cases I can Soldier:76 or Symmetra but those are really out of option.

Now my question is: which characters are best (of the ones I can play) for climbing?

I usually solo/duo/team queue and I often succeed but sometimes I don't. How do I git gud for real?

Also, my gamesense is coming from about 6000 hours in TF2, where I played as every class but the sniper and the medic

I'd argue the 1-shot is a defining part of his kit and they should have tweaked that instead of straight up removing it. Making it more obvious or have a charge up time would have helped. Instead they neuter his output and buff his defense, which just makes him a giant ult battery, even with the suggested changes by the devs.

If they don't want him to one shot people anymore, then they need to restore his hook. Reduce the CD and restore it to hook 1.0.

If they want him to be more tanky, there are a lot of things they could do to ensure that, but I don't think thats the right idea. If he was more tanky he'd still just be outclassed by real tanks.

I know it's not "impressive," but Overwatch is my first FPS and I worked really hard just to be adequate. I spent over 20 hours between QP, vs AI, and mystery heroes so I could learn maps, positioning, proper aim, and develop good game sense for even thinking about competitive. I always considered FPSs beyond my capabilities, but I wanted to at least try and found the game genuinely fun. Most of that time was on Ana (poor choice for someone new to FPS, I know, but I really liked her character and wanted to get good as her by any means necessary). I recently switched to Zen because he's just easier to use without extremely good communication which is often lacking (this is on console) and the eight game win streak (4 qp followed by 4 placement matches, I like to warm up in qp before playing ranked) that followed made me feel like it was the right choice. I like Ana better, but I'm more effective as Zen and that's better for my team.
Also, on one of those Zen games I got five gold medals but my play card was for assists. Wtf blizzard.
Idk, this probably isn't that cool, I'm just really proud of myself and it's fun to watch myself improve and grow as a player.

Hook2.0 was a bit busted because the range guaranteed 80% of the pellets critted tanks.

With good aim he could 1-shot Zarya if her bubble was on CD.

Hook3.0 was fine after the distance/cooldown nerf, the spread buff was a bit dumb because M2 turned into a railgun at the right range.

I think Roadhog is in the exact same situation that happened with D.Va. Nobody seems to remember when she was nerfed and her DM was glitched, which is also a good point to bring up.

Nobody seems to remember when DM had some bug where enemy gunfire could go through it if they were firing directly behind their teammate. And people exploited that for a good 2 weeks in comp. I think they only removed her from comp for a few hours while they rush-fixed it, and that's why DM seems so OP now.

My time comp is getting less and less and I've been spending more and.more time in QP.

If I see Widow, Hanzo and all dps no tanks or healers in the select screen I can simply quit out on the spot with no worries.

If I quit too many games it will penalize my xp but who gives a shit about xp. Of course it will count those quits as losses and start to pair you with low kevel shitters but after a few rounds of dominating with multple golds and medals it will quickly start to match you up with and against very high sr players and some really good, intense games can be had.

You need both bubbles available when starting a push, ideally you also need >30 charge.

Use E bubble on a prime target like an ulting Genji/mcree/pharah to stop them dying or getting CC'd

Use self-bubble to soak up splash damage or build massive charge from hog/weeb/mccree/reaper ults

Your job with M1 is to lazer down the highest-threat counter-ult that they've deployed - reaper/mccree/genji are all good targets. If you pop grav then let the team kill everyone inside the grav, but go mercy hunting. With tracking and a reasonable charge you can melt her pretty easily.

Get charge by putting bubbles on people at key moments.

Like when your mercy gets pulse bombed or when a D.VA ult is going off, or you see your Zenyatta struggling with a flanking genji.

Once you get above 50 you pretty much turn into a big DPS and start melting people, and since laser goes through Defense Matrix you can make D.VAs panic when they defense matrix and still die.

Then black hole for when the team bunches up to wipe. Make sure D.VA is out of mech otherwise she can eat it.

At most I'd like one more buff-type support hero and possibly a defense hero that's actually viable.

Area denial is what def heroes should do yet they all suck at it - torb's crappy turret that is only really a threat to tracer, Mei can get steamrolled 2v1, bastion (lul genji), spamrat (lul free zarya charge/pharah), widow (rape ape), handsoap (not really area denial).

Maybe some sort of swarm hero that can summon bots from static emplacements or has controllable minions.

You're bound to find overlaps in mechanics, and frankly I think Orisa is an interesting combination of abilities. Her ult is actually quite remarkable and the versatility of her barrier and pull is fantastic. It's clear she's much stronger on the defensive position.

Halt! is a crowd control ability and does it's job well. It's great for pulling opponents out of position, or into fire, or for enviromental kills. The only difficult is judging it's range and when to trigger it.

Fortify seems to also be fine to me. Too many people pre-emptively Fortify when in actuality you should be using it reactively, like Zarya's self-bubble.

Still, i'd like you to explain why they they need buffs.

Zarya's bubble essentially makes you invincible for 1 second while powering Zarya up. Orisa's Fortify just makes the biggest and squishiest tank in the gang last 2 seconds longer. The cooldown is insane, too. I don't think Fortify should be on a gauge like others do, but I think it needs to either last 1 more second or make her invulnerable to crits.

Halt is fine.

She's just too fucking big and slow. I think they need to buff her gun tremendously in order to make up for her lack of mobility, or make it so Fortify increases her movespeed, make it so she can move at normal speed while firing her gun, or make her barrier bigger. Because right now she's just a big, slow target with a peashooter.

No, Halt is fine. Halt is the scariest part of her kit when I'm fighting Orisa and Halt is the best part of her kit when I'm playing her. Orisa's role is she's a fucking blue mage that stole bits of everyone else's kit. I've accepted this. I'm OK with it. But these things should be good. Her entire kit except Halt needs tuning.
