Well, they've gotten more useful now, with the introduction of Tempest, a monthly event. But they do half damage ([healer's atk - enemy res]/2) in exchange for the ability to heal, and they tank your score in arena, which used to be where the majority of your effort went, so no one used them outside of leveling up new units.
Speaking of new units, if you want to level one up after you're further in the game, the usual set is: a healer, a dancer, a buffer or someone who can kill enemies if shit starts going downhill, and the unit you're trying to train. Just an odd piece of advice you'll figure out later.

Inheritance means Skill Inheritance, and you'll get the hang of it quick. Note that you can't inherit certain skills on certain unit types. For example, healers can't inherit any offensive special attacks, like your Tiki's Sol.

Why can't I make a single effective defensive team, /feg/? I feel like I have the units that this shouldn't be an issue, but it still is. I just don't remotely understand how the AI functions when it's controlling my units, I guess.

Is there a team I can put together out of this bunch that will actually result in consistent defensive wins? I hate scrounging up, at most, one a week. On the right are my currently most invested in units, left is the full set. I've tried most of the more common comps already, and I've even tried carbon-copying teams I've seen be successful before and still come away with nothing to show for it.

To be fair, I feel that was out of necessity more than by choice; for the longest time literally my only units of value were the Nino/Eirika/Ninian combo. I've only recently invested in the staple Xander/Camus/Rein combo because I needed to get a horse team up to speed to keep in pace with the Tempests and Chain Challenge.

I don't know what my options for creativity are, though, in that my units pretty much exist in the gap of either being top-tier units with solid IVs or total garbage with poor IVs, and not a lot of synergy between the two. Trust me, I've tried finding things that work with my set out of the staple builds but I just don't manage to find what works, and being F2P I can't afford to really experiment only for a build to turn out completely worthless. If there's a better way to experiment then how I've been trying, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
