It ended much much worse, than even that despair shows. The game started really getting emotional and depressing. I never got around to posting, but I would have shown them trading letters back and forth.

The way I was going to write, Dellana had kept up her adoring, lovely letters, but the despair and depression caused by her separation eventually could only be sedated with alcohol, and eventually magical drugs. And I'd have Rashid knowing through her increasingly erratic handwriting that not all was well.

Eventually, Dellana got maimed in battle, and looked horrible. And she would have referenced that in a letter, how she didn't want him to see her now.

And eventually, I would have written her last letter. Because she died from depression, and a magical heroin overdose, to make the pain and despair go away. Her last letter was going to be something beautiful.

In the end, I never did get around to writing it. Maybe Ill move my game backwards, load up those saves, and finish it. Or maybe not. I had no heart to carry on after that.

Great fun 10/10 would play as again.

For a competitive mp game I practiced in singleplayer attacking the incas as portugal(I played as something else in the mp game, but it worked for the test) with different types of troops and I even lost battles against the incas if I used too much cav.

I'd say East vs. West's was the best one. It's the closest Paradox has come to having most provinces be roughly the same size, which is important for a game with a lot of military tactics going on. That, and the provinces aren't autistically small like HOI3's, or super distorted like EUIV's provinces are.

If you don't count EvW's map as "canon" since the game got canned, then my runner-up would be Vicky 2's map for being very mod-friendly (map can accomodate for modern borders without the need for modding the map files).

I'm more amazed Paradox hasn't put out a DLC for HOI4 yet that adds in an EvW scenario, or at least something similar to it like the Doomsday expansion for HOI2. There's a ton of demand for a cold war grand strat, they could make a killing just by layering a scenario about the Cold War over HOI4's shallow system to breathe new life into it. But that involves Paradox making a smart decision, which they haven't done for years.

When I was /agdg/'ing something remotely close to a grand strategy game a little while ago, I went on /k/ and asked them what they thought of large blobs of shit in deserts in games like these. Someone told me about the Toyota War, so there's already at least one OTL conflict during the Cold War that I think a map like DH's wouldn't do justice for since it'd basically become Risk-tier in terms of strategy at that point.

Revolution in 1839/1840, (probably going to do something in Portugal as well), Italian Nationalists and Liberals rise up in Naples and the Papal States, take Rome, murder the Pope/the Pope flees and they establish the Roman Republic, if the Habsburgs put it down then they can just re annex the Two Sicilies
If France helps (like when Russia helps Austria beat Hungary), then they can make a treaty with the Habsburgs to do pic related in Italy, Savoy becomes a French puppet, Corsica goes to France, the Two Sicilies are re-annexed into Spain and Austria gets that corridor so the Habsburgs can easily move troops and such
If the Roman Republic wins then they get cores in all of Italy and they'll probably be able to take them easily when the next revolution wave hits

Tests are still ongoing, but most things seem to be in order. There's still a few things to check though.
Accepted pops of a conquered tag now don't join ideological rebels but the refuse to join the primary culture when fighting for independence. So there's still testing to do.
Meanwhile I'm checking balance and balancing stuff where I can, and I started work on break "african minor". So far the entirety of East and South Africa have been done, up to Angola, and now I'm moving north to Central and West Africa. Minors in these places are divided among more regional terms and no longer can a tag from south africa accept "african minor" from ethiopia (in Ethiopia, Egypt and Somalia they are "cushitics").

Unrelated to that though, I can still see a glitch. Ethiopia being a releasable tag, for example (it shouldn't be releasable) as well as the lingering Neuchatel and Sigmaringen when loading a game tell me there's something not quite right. Now all cultures of a given tag will try declare independence as a bloc (unless a tag where they are a primary culture is present) instead of only the primary culture. This not only stopped (or almost completely eliminated it) the ideological rebels in the colonies problem, but it will also make nationalistic risings truly nationalistic (and more dangerous).

Now I just need to finish unravelling the "african minor" culture in Africa and check all tags for their accepted cultures, and guarantee that all (or most) cultures have accepted status in their own tags. allowing colonial nations like Indonesia or Nigeria to rise as a bloc rather than never rising at all because the primary culture of Nigeria is British.
