World of warcraft raiding is competitive by default. You have teams of people trying to reach a goal in a multiplayer setting.

If any player in an MMO can purchase an advantage over another player it is pay to win. A single player paying to win affects every single other player in the game because this is how MMO's work. MMO's are built on the community, the social interaction, and achieving feats that other less coordinated guilds can not. If someone can pay to bypass their lack of competence then it destroys the very foundation that the MMORPG is built on.

If you play on warmane you don't care about any of this. That's fine I guess, do whatever you want. You don't have to want to play an MMORPG, but don't go calling your shit on a plate an apple.

Warmane's TBC Core is the only TBC core that has 100% smooth player movement.

because they changed all the stats for everything pre 100

at 100 your stats get massive inflation, but before that they did a stat crunch and essentially ruined all the stats, so now you either have way higher stats than you originally did (vanilla and bc), or lower stats (everything else), without the content being balanced for it, its why purposefully capping yourself to a specific content era will never work or have any community around it

this is why blizzard just needs to make actual era servers, because the game is no longer meshes with old content, and blizzard 100% doesn't care if it does or not, they don't balance around old content

it would be pretty easy for them to set up a server and update it with patches progressivly, but they couldnt have just one server per expansion, because what happens when the server reaches the end of that expansion? Do they wipe it and restart? would they have multiple servers on rotation? what about subsequent expansions, could you move your character to the next server?

When you really start to think about it, providing legacy support would take a ton of resources.

Everquest has legacy progression servers (they're actually way more popular than the regular servers), and they just let the servers start at the beginning and progress forward either at a timetable given when the server launched, or they let people vote on when to open the next expansion. The newest server they launched will progress until a certain expansion and then stop.

Obviously wow is way different than EQ and would require a new client for each expansion, but I'm sure blizzard could work something out given they have way more resources

There wouldn't be just one server for each expansion, they would have to have multiple, the demand is there. If they did my guess would be that they would start from vanilla and progress over time. It would be most profitable since they're effectively restarting wow, gathering new players and veterans alike. I would also guess that they would keep the new models, areas, and weapon animations. Like how elwynn is upgraded in cata, but offer a choice between old and new visuals. They would also integrate their cash shop in vanilla but no boosting, pets, mounts, and cosmetics only.
