I like Bay's simpler layout. It's also really satisfying to jump over the grate on the way to egg delivery and when a coordinated team waits for everyone to get on the elevators with an egg before heading up it is truly blissful.

The grate section on Spawning Grounds on the other hand gives me cancer and if too many annoying things spawn on the shoreline back there you can just get absolutely fucked.

the octobrush is so common in ranked because it has exactly the same balance problem that the roller had at launch in 1. There's zero penalty for not aiming directly at the target. At a 45 degree angle from the aiming reticle it still hits 100% of the time killing in 4 shots at 2 lines away without even needing to look remotely close to the target.

Combined with the fact that almost every map has a big chunk of forced close range combat so everyone else is has to deal with the octospam. The Reef has jumping off the bridge in splatzones. Humpback has the hole and walls in the middle that forces everyone to walk into the splatzone to cover it. Mainstage has all the walls in the middle. Inkblot has tons of corners everywhere

so salmon run is the best way to farm coins, right?

It honestly depends on the game mode.

For Splat Zones, I find that Ink Storm, Baller and Splashdown are very effective. AoE weapons are the best in this mode because they allow you to capture the zones fast while clearing out enemies. For Tower Control, these weapons are also nice, but the Inkjet and Sting Ray aren't too bad here either. And for Rainmaker, mobility and defensive specials are king. Ink Armor, Baller and even the Inkjet are great. Even though you can't use your special when you're holding the Rainmaker, you want to outmaneuver your opponents and stay grouped with whoever holds the Rainmaker. Furthermore, the Suction Bomb Launcher special is powerful in every game mode because it provides heavy AoE and can even be used as an effective zoning tool during Rainmaker and Tower Control matches.

It was exactly as stupid in Splat 1 as this game. Factor in latency, and you're pretty much dead as soon as an Octobrush gets within range to you. Even without latency, your only option is to back up because your picture shows you can't circle strafe a brush. The only difference now is that people are actually using it.

dualies counter rollers but don't even come close to countering the octobrush. Here's octobrush 100% kill range compared to the point where Dualies can even hit their target. If dualies roll any direction but back they instantly die because of how wide the brush attacks. If they roll back there's no net change because of the delay between rolling and being able to shoot. If Dapple dualies had the roll range of normal dualies they could beat octobrush but right now they are two weapons with the same kill range but one has to aim and the other doesn't.

The motion controls are actually very precise and smooth. You can snap onto targets with them, which is something stick controls can't do. Tracking is also easier and better with motion controls. If you use stick controls you're basically slowing yourself down and hindering accuracy.

Ninja Squid isn't broken, faggot. First off, Damage and Defense Up were completely useless in the first game. Damage Up is coded so that you can't lower the amount of hits required to kill, even if you have it on every slot. Furthermore, Defense Up could only lower the hits to splat threshold of a few weapons when stacked. Meaning you'd have to invest a handful of slots JUST to make a select few weapons take one extra hit to kill you. Which is honestly terrible when you can save those slots for abilities that are actually useful. Damage Up was only there as a counter to Defense Up. Nobody with a brain actually used them, it was globally agreed that they were a waste of ability slots.

And above all this, you can achieve the same effect of Ninja Squid by simply swimming slower. People only use Ninja Squid because they're too lazy to learn how to be stealthy, or want to combine it with Swim Speed Up. Because having Ninja Squid DOES reduce your swim speed. tl;dr git gud and git educated

How much Cash and XP do you get for Winning in the S-Ranks?

I remember it being key for grinding enough Cash for Spyke's shit quickly, in Splat1, but i'm not sure what would be the best way to grind XP and Cash in 2.

Is there any way to make charger play more viable. I feel like I'm hitting shots by accident most of the time then over compensating my aim when I actually need to get a kill.
I never used a charger in 1 and I think its a lot of fun but when I'm rattling like marty mcfly I feel like i should drop it.

Okay, here's my assessment from comparing both Prima Guides.

>Numbers/percentages for abilities are the same
>Almost every description is the same, some have been edited for consistency's sake or given added text, but not in a way that suggests they function differently
>Quick Respawn was reworked, it only reduces respawn time when you die multiple times without getting a kill (who the fuck would use this)
>Doesn't mention that Sub Power Up gives added benefits to non-bomb weapons (Which is weird because I could swear it makes ink mines bigger)

One thing that bothers me is that the description for Ink Resistance Up is the same, even though you can stack it and get it as a primary on any gear. So does that basically confirm they nerfed it? Or do you get the same effect from one primary slotted ink resist like in Splatoon 1? Cause in the first game you could ONLY get it as a primary ability from shoes.

You get to play a fun story mode and unlock Hero weapons, which are cosmetic variants of certain existing weapons that can be used in multiplayer. But doing so requires you to beat stages with specific weapons, so it can be annoying or hard depending on your skills.

Those are called Power Eggs. In the singleplayer campaign they can be used to upgrade your weapons within the campaign. In Salmon Run, they're collected from beating enemies, and having more means you get paid more. They're basically like score, except score kinda matters a bit.

You unlock new weapons based on your level. So level up by playing multiplayer and get new things. As for gear, it depends on your build. Ink Saver (Main) and Ink Recovery Up are both good to stack, niche perks like Ninja Squid and Tenacity are also sweet. I think Ink Resistance Up has been nerfed since Splatoon 1 but some people still use it. A lot of abilities are lackluster or useless so be careful.
