No UNIEL apologist has ever put forward an argument explaining why GRD is fun, exciting, cool, etc. That's because it's not cool. It's totally arbitrary, has no aesthetic representation, and doesn't make the game any more exciting. All you will get from UNIEL apologists is:

I completely agree, but system mechanics should be designed around the game, not the other way around. Unless you find system mechanics more fun than characters and action, which is totally fine, but you might be neuro-a-typical.

Now while all of those arguments are demonstrably false, I must commend the people who have put them forth, however, I must unfortunately say, that most UNIEL players are idiots because when you criticizing their game, instead of defending it, they DODGE and they DODGE in the exact same way every time by mentioning negative penalty EVEN WHEN NO ONE DEFENDED NEGATIVE PENALTY OR MENTIONED GUILTY GEAR AT ALL.

Its not a matter if its a similar attack, we are talking about recycling animations and moves from prior characters. It can be done subtly like With Trish's level 3 being almost identical of Saki's from TvC for the first portion, Pic related. But outside of that the rest of Trish's kit is unique.

Gamora on the other hand is proof that they are just reusing assets only. At least 70% of her animations and attacks shown so far are from characters cut from UMVC3 and even taking from Tatsunko(which MVC3 vanilla borrowed assets from)

Like I said, there is nothing wrong with reusing assets subtly or out of necessity.

But they've cut 25 characters from UMVC3 for, what we know so far, 8. And of these "new" characters, 2 of them so far are frankensteined from previous characters.

It doesn't help when 80% of the cast is already being brought back from the previous game, and that the character is one nobody likes. If they are going to make a character nobody likes or cares about (like spencer from 2009 bionic commando) then make them unique and fun to play.

Like by the time a feature that should be common place is starting to ramp up in implementation it's already been the standard in non fgs for years. SF5's the 2nd game with rollback for Japanese games so it's gonna be quite sometime until devs either try to make their own or swallow their ego and just buy a fucking GGPO License.

It sounds like you know the basics well enough. It's impossible for humans, even professionals to react to high low.

Start playing real humans instead of chin-stroking and overthinking things.

On the topic of high/low: it really depends on the game, but in general always block low, stand up when your opponent jumps because most jumping attacks are overhead. Most ground overheads are slow enough to react to if you know what they look like.
But it's not important that you block everything. Again, not even pros can do that.
