Speaking as a retired WFU investor and WFU myself, waifus have never roleplayed well. The entire appeal of them is aesthetic or located purely in one single character trait. Take Ailsa for instance; He's a crossdressing homogay with multiple disgusting fetishes. He doesn't roleplay well, he's an annoying asshole OOC, there is nothing desirable about him as he is a bad player.

Why? /vg/ is a roleplay server. More roleplay = more good. THe problem with bay isn't roleplay, it's bad roleplayers and ENFORCED roleplay held to strict, confining standards that are subjective enough that multiple different admins have multiple different opinions on what is "acceptable" roleplay, all of whom are willing to enforce that view on other people.
/vg/ is an example of a perfect roleplaying server; A fairly light minimum standard with the opportunities and abilities for people to roleplay above that level any time they want. Lite is not a maximum, it is a minimum.

I used to care about the thread, I used to try hard to be a good player for their standards.

Now I understand the thread hates everyone and that I should focus on having fun and roleplaying that I enjoy. I've had many pleasant conversations with people in game, plenty of slow rounds of talking to others and thats more fun than running around "playing the game". I've had a lot of fun, I think the people I've interacted with have had more fun because of my efforts and overall I've made the rounds a little better.

:) focus on having fun yourself and everyone around you will have fun too. People really like roleplaying, just do it. Even a bad attempt is nice, and you'll improve for next time.
