Load times are innate to New-WoW due to the number of objects being loaded vs the old days. I'm pretty fucking mad at this whole situation. Yeah, it sucks that Gummy has muscular distrophy, but that doesn't excuse his lack of planning for when big daddy Activision comes knocking on his door. No server backups, no migrations to Europe, nothing. Just fuck you, it's gone. The beta was so great and then it just gets snatched out of my fucking hands within five hours of going live. The guy doesn't even show any intentions of giving away the source code because "muh integrity, people might use it for profit :^^^^^(". Yeah, because people using it for profit is CLEARLY better than nobody getting to use it at all.

I began this project roughly four years ago and last year when Blizzard began taking action more seriously it weighed heavily on me as not only was I already heavily invested into the work but others around me were as well. Because of my health situation I wasn't in a position to cut losses and start over on something different, at least not something that would take four years to make. Last year's news of what Blizzard was doing came at the absolute worst time for me, frankly, with so many years already invested. To explain what may appear as an odd series of decisions it seems worthwhile to disclose my condition, muscular dystrophy, which only one other person in the online sphere knew of until now.
Of course, that is why I'm not able to pick up and move to another country as an alternative means to host the server since I'm not really able to live on my own. That is also the reason I've been able to work mostly full time on this project as I'm unemployed, though I have sacrificed much of my well being dedicating everything I have to this. Why am I disclosing this? I'm not really sure, but I feel compelled to.
So the question instead becomes: why host it yourself? The problem with that is our popularity snowballed way too fast once the release date was set.

As someone who tested said 5 mans... Yeah they were pretty fucking top tier. The only non blizzlike thing i saw was the Blood elf mobs in Bot emoting that they were committing seppuku every time they died.

Before the release date was declared, most people expected the server to flounder with a small population, the irony of which quickly became a meme. Therefore, months ago I saw no reason to hand all of our work over to someone I didn't know when the project had a reasonable chance to stay small enough to avoid the need. Though I have no problem contributing to honest developers, the market to wrongfully profit from this stuff is much too lucrative to hand it out on a whim. Had we time to smooth out the release, this certainly would have been something to explore. The warning signs to expect notice from Blizzard were there but receiving it that quickly was something I don't think many expected.
So why did I make this project? I love the game and community, especially the community. The old game was a great way to meet people and see new faces. It makes me happy, and programming makes me happy. Of course, I am sad that things didn't turn out the way I'd hoped but I don't think I'd change any of the decisions I made. I gambled that we could cap the servers at 3k and enjoy a close community. Sadly, I did not win that gamble, though on some level it was nice to see so many people eager to enjoy something I worked on. This project gave the last four years of my life a sense of purpose that I thoroughly enjoyed.
So why not tell people of that plan ahead of time to stifle hype? The problem with private servers is that there is no middle ground. If people expect a server to "only" have 3000 (real) players then they just won't play and you'll instead end up with 300, which isn't playable.
A lot of people are of course asking for the source code. Although it may not be in my best interest to distribute the whole thing in its entirety at this point, I'll see what I can manage that would be beneficial to other programmers who are still learning.

After lurking and doing some actual research of my own i can present these findings about Warmane.

When people here say Warmane, they almost always mean the 7x cashshop server Outland which is post nerf.

The 1x PRE-nerf server Medivh will also have a cashshop according to the dev at some point of time down the road but only for vanity items like tabards or mounts or some shit, take it with a grain of salt i guess.

The top population on Medivh is 2k at peak hours so there literally are no queues ever.

As i understood Outland is the funserver while Medivh is envisioned to be as blizzlike as possible.

It returns p, which was originally defined as 0. Since the loop is being skipped since the initial test of x < b fails since 0 < -# is false, it returns p which is 0. People keep saying this crashes but I don't understand why and no one is saying why.


I understand my output. Since x < b is false, it skips the loop and only prints Hi and Hello. If b was 1 or greater, it would print from 0 up to b - 1.

There I was, a young priest leveling in the beautiful green fields of Elwynn Forest under the bright blue sky. A completely non-profit TBC server that didnt even accept donations but built from several years of passion and love for a game that is no longer available from its "legitimate" source.

So it can be summed up in a few words : "Blizzard giveth and Blizzard taketh. Only, they took from us long ago. Slowly they were corrupted, selling out to Activision, employing !@#$ designers like greg street (ghostcrawler) and anyone else that would listen to his idiocy ie. removing talent trees, removing abilities, dumbing down itemization/stats/roles/progression. Dont even get me started on PVP. More sellout crap such as a cash shop, super overpriced services like character transfers, name changes, race changes etc. A complete decline in GM support int he game. The game had 8x more players in TBC/wrath and I didnt have to wait over 24 hours for a ticket. All of this happening while ghostcrawler and other blizz employees denying its happening when they are actually making the changes deliberately. why?? Because they can.. because the average wow player is a gullible retard and doesn't know any better and will believe the crap that blizz tells them. Like when blizz said subs (sub numbers that they then stopped releasing to the public) are going down because the playerbase "grew up". Yeah ok.... see my previous point of gullible retards.
