There is literally no point gearing hit cause it will just increase the amount of time your spells get (resisted). The real trouble there is spell penetration and untill you can get capped on 130 with that, hit is basicly pointless. Its equals to something like 8-9 spellpower before spen cap and ~15 after. Crit is pretty much same shit as hit, but with zg patch you can at least keep shadow damage debuff with it so its a little better and tops at 17~ sp.
You will never get hit capped in vanilla. There is no rotation that requires you to be hit capped. All you need is to deliver as much damage as possible with one spell and raw spellpower gear of the same tier(and sometimes two tiers below) will always dominate its hit and crit counterparts.
Anyone telling you hit is a good stat for pve locks is delusional.

I'm smoking boss resistances that matter much more than your hit chance and are applied after miss on hit table, sir.
Lets see how good hit really is.
Lets say your shadowbolt does 1k damage.
You have 17% chance to miss with it.
With 100 shadowbolts you will do 83000 damage.
Lets add 1% hit.
84000 damage.
1000 damge more in 100 shadowbolts. A fucking 10 damage per shadowbolt more. Factoring in spellpower cofficient hit worth 10/85.6*100=11.6 spellpower.
Yes its rough and doesn't factor in crit and debuff from crit but it doesn't factor spen either so its pretty much going to be 2-3 sp more when everything is considered.
Hit on its own is garbage.

My first toon went to 53. He had a bank + 4 14-slot bags full of ores, stones, food recipes, and flavor-text items with him. Deleted that.
My next one got to 45. A warlock in full Shadoweave with another bank full of herbs and food recipes. Deleted him
Then I made another warlock to 42. Full Shadoweave and enchanted gear with a shit-ton of cloth in the bank to easily get max rep. Deleted that one.
Made a druid to 38. Deleted him after not getting R3 despite getting over 1000 kills in WPvP by farming Hillsbrad.
Got a hunter to 32 before realizing I hated hunter. Had grinded with him and had about 300 gold in my bags that I gave to a random level 20 who shit himself asking if I was setting him up for a goldban.
This last one was a level 12 character I stopped playing because Gummy came out. I deleted him because I'm done.

I play WoW because locking my room and hacking into people's accounts to play was the only enjoyment I had in my childhood.
