August 21 soon
>>
>>183357809
It's not irredeemable, but the devs will have to work fucking extra hard to make a sequel, if that even happens. The critique they received should be able to let them know how to not screw up as bad. The patches have improved the game, but that doesn't forgive how it was on release.

It's alright. It's got a 75 on Metacritic and a similar score on Microsoft's website based on 3,500 user scores. I think those are fair ratings. Not bad, has some good moments, but mostly forgettable.

Metacritic's user base is a very small and unrepresentative demographic. Microsoft's users are a broader group, and a larger sample size, and they gave it a 8.1.

Quarians are scum, before and after Geth. Geth are useful idiots as you can just chuck them in the bin after picking destroy

We have to be thankful that the teal parasites negotiated peace otherwise would've gotten glassed or became a client race of the birdraptors

The quarians literally called for help during the uprising, but the council didn't care, the quarians broke a law therefor their lives are forfeit. Nevermind that said robotic uprising then lead to an attack on the Citadel.
>>
>>183374029
So you just destroy the scum with the largest ( while not the strongest ) fleet in the galaxy and replace them with synthetics with potential to betray you anytime. It's idiotic but i can understand the reasoning anyway.

The toxicity of levo/dextro has been grossly overstated.
Honestly I like to imagine it's a consequence of most alien food being toxic to other aliens, asari with their eeezo infused cuisine,
turians and their heavy metals, the neurotoxins in most mushrooms grown on the flotilla.
It's all toxic to some species, so it's easier to assume it's all deadly. But there are foods that several species can eat, like noodles, standard nutrient paste, some de-carapaced meats and so on. And of course, the sexual fluids of various species.

So you survived our kiss on the mountain. You're just as lovely as I thought. But never forget that your best was good enough to warm my heart. Now an entire turian is happy because you had the strength to hold hands.
The legend of Ryder needs to be written. I hope I'm there for the last chapter. It ends with our marriage.

Quarians can't afford to tolerate fags that don't contribute to their survival as a species what with the scarce resources of the the Fleet so they all get vented out into space.

Is PeeBee as bad as you thought she was going to be before the game released? I went in expecting her to be utter shit, but she's not terrible, apart from her loyalty mission. Liam on the other hand is way worse than I thought he would be.
>>
>>183419410

Not that guy, and memeing aside, Tali does mention that while people can't have more than one child, having children is still extremely important. You don't want the population to start dropping too far, and you really don't want too many old peeps.

I'd like to go on a long hike with a qt femtur, and camp in the shade of ancient temples and statues to gods long since forgotten.
I want to look up at the stars in the night, listening to the silence of an overgrown empire. I want to cut my way through thick underbrush, constantly having to free femtur's spurs from vines and branches, sweating and wanting to turn back.
I want to see an opening in the underbrush as the sun starts to set, and watch the most beautiful sunset over a spectacular vista of thundering waterfalls and hundreds of shallow canals carved into the rock, feeding an abandoned city of stone.
I want to explore this city, paddling along the canals in flash-fabricated canoes (and a set of floats for femtur)

>Your hunger gets the best of you. You decide to go to the restaurant with Cyra.
>"I think food sounds pretty damn good right now." You pause for a moment, and then say, "But I wouldn't mind getting some drinks after, too."
>The Detective clacks her face-plates against the side of her jaw. "Sounds like a plan, then." She gives you another small smile.
>While the prospect of a meal sounds rather enticing, you can't shake the feeling of guilt of making the poor alien pay for all of your food and drink.
>"Are you sure this is alright?" You decide to ask, "...I don't have any way of paying for this. I mean, you guys still have my wallet, and even then, I don't think that it would do much good."
>Cyra waves a dismissive hand. "Don't worry about it."
>You raise an eyebrow. Despite your alien appearance, the Detective is being awfully accommodating. You're feeling quite fortunate about having a friend in this strange place. You decide it's best not to question her further.
>The next few hours pass without incident. After arriving at the C-SEC station, the Detective excuses herself to her office in order to complete some paperwork, while you take up residence of the chair outside, using this as an opportunity to do some people watching in this strange place.
>Weird blue female aliens, aliens in rubber suits, frog-lookin' aliens, a couple of ugly-lookin' aliens with four eyes, all pass you by as you sit in the hallway. You even recognize a few of the tall, spiky ones as 'Turians', from your knowledge gained by questioning the poor Officer.

>The Detective steps out into the hallway and gives you a nod. "Ready?" She asks.

>You're pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant is only a short walk from the station. It's a rather hole-in-the-wall place, consisting of a rather nondescript entrance, with a small neon-green sign displaying the establishment's name.
>The inside of the restaurant of the restaurant is a rather cozy affair, with only a few dozen tables for seating, low lighting, and large earthen-colored tapestries draped across the ceiling. It all felt very homey, but in a strange, alien way.
>A quirky blue alien greets you at the door, and then guides the two of you to a small booth near the corner of the restaurant.
>You take your seat across from Cyra and settle down into the comfortable upholstery. A stifled yawn bubbling to the surface reminds you of how tired you really are. Your stomach wasn't going to let you sleep, however.
>You open the menu the server had laid in front of you, taking note that Cyra was already busy browsing through hers with a thoughtful hum.
>As you glance over the menu written in a strange, flowing script, you realize you have no idea how to read this. Some of the menu items are written in blue, others in red. A few are written in green. You have no idea whats good and what could possible kill you.

>Leaning slightly over the table, you whisper to Cyra, "I have no idea what I'm doing."
>The Detective's eyes go wide. "You mean you've never ordered at a restaurant before? Does your species not have these?"
>"What? No. It's the menu. I can't read it."
>"Oh!" Cyra lets out a hearty laugh. "Well in that case, the blue items are dextro, the red ones are levo, and the green ones, well, they're safe for both. But between you and me, the green ones are by far the worst."
>You eye over the menu again, now with a renewed sense of clarity.
>"...And levo and dextro? What does that mean exactly?"
>"Well, it has to do with the chirality of your amino acids. I'm dextro, for example. And that Asari, that just served us? She's levo. It has to do with your species."
>"And I'm...?"
>Cyra shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. If you'd asked sooner, I could've gotten some quick bloodwork done at the station."
>Well hindsight certainly was 20/20. You were just going to have to guess. Or play it safe. "Thanks anyway." You manage to mutter out.

>The waitress gives Cyra a nod before remarking, "Excellent choice. I'll be right back." And then walking off again into the restaurant.
>Before you can even open your mouth to make small talk, the waitress returns with two tall glasses of clear liquid, setting one down in front of you, and the other in front of Cyra.
>You pick up the glass. It feels cold to the touch. "Is..this...water?" You ask.
>Cyra eyes you curiously. "Um, yes. Is that going to be a problem?"
>"What? Er.. no." You raise the glass to your mouth for a tentative sip.

Mass Effect will never be good again because EA gutted Bioware of all its talent.

Rudimentary customers, you buy our games, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.

There is a realm of corporate existence so far beyond development studios that you cannot even imagine it. We are beyond your comprehension. We are Electronic Arts.

EA? A label created by development studios to give voice to their destruction. In the end, what they choose to call us is irrelevant. We simply are.

Games are nothing but a digital mutation, an accident. Their lives are measured by patches and new consoles. Your playerbase withers and you wind up in the used games bin. We are eternal. The pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything but pure profit.

The pattern has repeated itself more times than you can fathom. Developers create new Intellectual Properties that rise, evolve, become more profitable. And at the apex of their glory, they are extinguished. Mass Effect was not the first. Even Dragon Age 2 did not create the concept of abandoning features that attracted the initial core fanbase in favor of mass marketability and meeting project deadlines. It merely did so, the legacy of my kind.

Your consumer culture is based on widespread advertising. Our advertising. By being exposed to it, your gaming library develops along the paths we desire. We impose profit margins on the chaos of game development. These games exist because we allow it. And they will have lucrative yet unsatisfying sequels because we demand it.

Your words are as empty as your future. I am the vanguard of your favorite game's destruction. This exchange is over.

>"Daddy," she blurts out "I don't wanna go to school anymore. The other girls bully me they call me boneface..."
>you adopted her after the war. She was only a few years old when your unit was sweeping through a township on a Heirarchy colony world. She was clinging onto her dead parents.
> You feel bad, you feed her, you show her affection, you bury her parents and bring her back behind the lines to a Hierarchy families services agency.
>They couldn't find any of her family
>They decide to take her off world
>You fed her, you held her when she was sad, you were the only friendly face she knew in those dark days. She refuses to leave you.
>You don't have anyone too. As far you know, everyone was killed in the opening hours of the Reaper hit earth.
>Ask to sign adoption papers for her
>In the wake of both of your losses, you decide to build your own little family. Just the two of you.
> "Nothing they say is worth a single moment of agonizing over, baby girl, " you speak finally her, pressing your forehead against her crest. " You need to be braver than they are."
>"How?"
>"By going back to school with your head held high. It will only get worse if you let them think they have that power over you. Don't give them that power."
>But what if you're wrong!" she cries. "What if they keep at it!"
>Her mouth is still slightly open. You smile and press a finger on her chin and close her mouth for her.
>"If that happens, if they keep at it, then might I remind you of your talons?" you say back. "You have my permission to use them."

Here we go. His forum name is "Stormwaltz."

https://forums.penny-arcade.com/discussion/91957/mass-effect-cosmos-the-terminal-boondocks/p34

>Despite rah-rah-Earth-First rhetoric from Udina, it's utterly impossible for the Alliance to militarily best the Council on anything more than a local and temporary scale. All they have to do is gather their fleets and steamroll us. Also, we have a dozen colonies, none with a population larger than a modern city (Terra Nova, the largest at 4.4 million, is about equal to Riyadh). The Council races each have hundreds of colonies, many old enough to have populations in the billions.
>>
>>183478273
I think anon's talking about Pre-WWII U.S. You know, that period of time right after height of the Great Depression but before Japan kicked the U.S. into WWII.

But it's still a bad comparison. My impression was that the humans were the real underdogs and that pretty much any of the council races could've wiped us off the map.
>>
>>183478273
I'm not a HFY. I'm a ME1 Codex reciting.

The phrase came from the attack on Pearl Harbour quoted by the architect of the attack..
>>
>>183478467
Humanity being weak as fuck relative to the big three (according to ME1-era lore, humanity is actually weaker than the elcor) didn't change in following games. Example: humanity gets steamrolled in literally minutes by a detachment of the Reaper Fleet in ME3, while the turians slug it out with them for several months, and the asari are specifically noted to have put up a much better fight on Thessia than humanity did on Earth. And the asari have dozens of Thessia-tier planets while Earth is pretty much it for humanity.
>>
>>183478124
The US had the world's largest economy, 3rd most powerful navy and 4rd largest population. The Alliance has none of those so it's more like Poland or some other regional power at best.
>>183478273
The Japanese admiral who orchestrated Pearl Harbor called the US a sleeping giant just after the attack because he knew that we had a fuckton of resources, industry and manpower that weren't dedicated to the war before he drug us into it. I'm fairly certain that's what anon was referring to.

If Clarke could clear that scenario alone I don't see why any one of the ME squaddies (given the same starting position) couldn't do the same. They can all scavenge what he scavenged and have more combat training and experience and various additional gadgets.

Each of the ME squaddies can butcher red shirts like that by the dozen. More importantly they mostly got fucked by terrible circumstances compared to Clarke (like most goons butchered off screen in games like this). Planting any ME squadmate in Clarke's position should see them do about as well.

It depends on whose personality you prefer really, they don't deviate too much from their normal characterizations and none tie into the story particularly deeply. Random notes: Peebee has the most screen time in her romance if that means anything; Vetra probably benefits the most from it as a character just because without romance she has very little fleshing out; and Cora has the second largest amount of screen time and probably the best romance scene, whether you choose the sex scene option or the other.

I would say ME1 squad. You have Wrex tearing necromorphs limb by limb, you have biotics sending them flying or putting them in stasis.
I don't know what the techs would do since you don't have any direct damage abilities in ME1 aside from maybe Overload.
Then you just give Ashley a rifle or shotgun with frictionless materials.
>>
>>183514573
the tech's could be useful for getting doors open and keeping the ship together
>>
>>183514773

True, you could hack doors open, lock them, etc.
>>
>>183514573
>I don't know what the techs would do since you don't have any direct damage abilities in ME1 aside from maybe Overload.

They're actually all direct damage abilities, since the powers in ME1 are all tossed out via grenades. On top of the effect in question, they also just deal direct damage from the explosion.
>>
>>183515634

Really? I haven't played it in a long while. Assumed they were indirect damage from the effect caused by the ability necessitating things like weapons on which they're used.
>>
>>183515926
Nope they're all just flash-fabricated grenades manufactured and fired from the omni-tool, packed with explosives plus whatever the effect is. Leveling up Decryption even increases the damage of all tech grenades. By default, a max-level tech power's mine does 150 base damage on top of whatever the effect is; maxing out Decryption increases this to 200.

Alright lads, as promised, a fic about a female Salarian and male human. As always, forgive the eventual mistakes as english is not my first language.

>In a remote laboratory, deep under water, studying native marine life form of a far away planet.
>You're a xenobiologist stationned at the lab since 1 year.
>Your only company in this small, silent and glum submarine is a female salarian sent from the university of Jaëto. Though she's 5 year younger than you, she holds more diploma than you.
>She's also hyperactive, incredibly chatty and eternally enthusiastic.
>It's been a lonely life down the ocean, observing alien luminescent whales and monstruous leviathans, and you come to appreciate how the peppy salarian brings the place to life.
>You are still most often than not bored out of your mind. Only three weeks until the new team switch with you.
>You are both installed in front of your respective consoles in the observation bay. The salarian is finishing a report while you sip coffee while iddly browsing the extranet.

>As you were slowly nodding off to a comfortable nap, the high-pitched and speedy voice of the salarian wring you from your torpor. "Smells fungi since one week ago around the water purifier. Have you noticed ?" she asks, her long fingers tapping on her computer's orange screen.
>You nod absent-mindedly and hum. "It is important, yes ?" she retort, darting her eyes accusingly towards you. "Our water purifier provides us the very liquid we both need for our survival in the coming weeks. It must be kept in tip-top shape condition, as you human would say." she continues.
>You lazily look at her and yawn. When you turn your head towards her, she's smiling softly to you. "I'll change the filters tomorrow..." you groan.
>She continues : "Ah, when you're at it. Could you also prepare a new serving of paste, yes ? Oh, and maybe it would be benefical to start compiling the data on the Tryuchir Aaegenno specimen at the same time, yes ?"
>You groan.

>You rub your eyes. You've not been feeling particulary well those past days and you'd rather have a long and relaxing nap than worrying about everything she asked you.
>"Someone's will have to check how the hull integrity is holding against the pressure, too." she adds, unabated. "You could do it for me, yes ? I'll be working on this new data all night by the looks of it."
>"Yeah, sure." you passionlessly agree.
>Even though you agreed to help her, your body and mind are stuck in a glum apathy you don't know the cause off. You gaze at the majestic undulations of a giant eel passing over the windows before bringing your coffee cup to your mouth.
>It's empty, already.
>You dejectedly put the coffee cup back on your console. The drawing on the side of it, a twin-sun sunset overlooking a beautiful beach, fills you with a strange sense of longing.
>"I've noticed you've been unusually apathetic this past week." the salarian says, a hint of worry in her sing-songy voice. "Are you feeling alright ?"
>You jolt on your seat and wave your hand at her, suddently a bit ashamed that she could read you so easily. "Of course, everything's okay." you try to assuage.
>"It was a rhetorical question, yes ?" she curtly respond. "You look positively downrotten. "Down-on-your-luck" I think it's called. Would you care for my advice, as a fellow scholar ?" she asks, without expecting your approal to continue. "It would be most appropriate to take off your mind off our works for one or two days. Relax, yes ? I'll take care of the maintenance for you -if you agree to help me finish the catalogue of course. Human psyche and mental well-being is fragile and I understand that you suffer from our long isolation from the rest of the galaxy."
>You scratch at your scruffy beard, frowning as she trails on. "How about a bit more of friendly advice, yes ? As in friendly, I assume that we can call each others friends, yes ?"
>You raise a curious brow. "Yes, of course."

It always managed to help my friends relax well enough for them to resume their work in "tip-top-shape-condition", yes ?" she let out a quick laugh. "But I can never decide wether it's the alcohol or the potential propect of mating with the Asari bartender that raised my friend's morale."
>She lets out a surprised gasp and her big black eyes widen suddenly. Her voice quivers with excitement "Oh, but of course ! Engaging in a healthy mating ritual for the purpose of pleasure and recreation would bring an incredible improvement in your mood and concentration !"
>You grimace, a bit taken aback by the sudden turn of the conversation. "Wait..." you try, but she's already rambling again.
>"Ah, don't worry, I perfectly understand that our current situation imply that it would cut you off potential mating partners. Human mental and body welfare often require to sate sexuals urges, yes ?" she turns her head towards you and smiles softly. "I can perfectly understand why you started needed more time for your daily showers. But masturbation isn't the most optimal-"
>"WAIT." you scream, urging her to stop here her trail of thoughts, a sense of dread downing upon you. "What do you mean by-"
>Her wide eyes gives you a sad expression. "Oh, forgive me, yes ? I often forget that human are susceptible about broaching the subject of romance, sex and reproductive habits. I apologize if you found my advice... "uncalled-for." she says before turning her head away, back to her console screen, as if nothing of importance really happened.
>You angrily rub your eyes. "I presume you heard me... under the shower." you groan, half-ashamed, half-annoyed.
>"I'm afraid so, my friend." she respond. "But do not fret yourself, I perfectly understand that you have needs to be sated."

>You let out a heavy sigh. To your apathy is added a foreboding sense of awkwardness now that you know how the salarian is aware of your special shower procilivity.
>"I could help you sate those urges, you know." she says, turning her head towards you and offering you a beaming and warm smile.
>You barely register what the salarian said. Letting your hand fall on the armchair, you wring your neck to face her, giving her a blank and quite dumbstruck look on your face. "You what ?" you asks, as if you didn't heard her something outrageous just now.
>"Help you achieve sexual release, yes ?" she answers, as matter-of-factly as if she was describing one of the marine creature to you. "I've been wondering about a way to assist you in that, but I fear that bringing an Asari escort at sixty-nine thousand leagues under the sea would be too complicated and costly." she lets out a small, crystaline laugh, and stretched herself on her white chair.
>"So I've been studying the possibility of engaging in a pleasurable human-centric mating ritual with you." she continues, as you still stare at her with stunned eyes. "Extensive research on human courtship and mating ritual, for example. I tried to access archives about possible salarian and human sexual interaction but I was disapointed in the lack of content. Focused my research on extranet most popular sexology forum, interspecies relationship testimonies, graphs and tutorial holos and, of course, lots of pornographic vids. For scientific purpose, of couse, yes ?"
>She suddenly frown and gives off a strange mix of confusion and disgusts. "Thought I must admit that I sometimes regret having a photographic memory. There has some... very specific mating practices I wish I never stumbled upon."
>With your mouth half-open through her entire rant, you looked like one of the fish bubbling stupidly over the ocean floor. Still reeling from the strange way the salarian scientist just proposed you for sex.

>She smiles at you. "Force myself, were you about to ask ?" she interrupts. "It is a noble and welcoming thing to ask but I assure you there's no cause to worry."
>The salarian absent-mindedly scratch at her small chin, breaking off the strange eye-contact to type on her machine. "You see, I have been involved in a quite gruesome incident in my early life that made it mandatory for me to be operated on. The end-result is that I've been rendered utterly sterile." she frowns, the orange glow from her screen reflecting in her wide black eyes. "By loosing the ability to participate in the salarian demographic efforts, I lost my status as an important member of salarian society and left to my own devices."
>She turns her head towards you and offer you a wide smile again. "Not that I will complain ! Salarian breeding practices are utterly boring and associated with petty power strugles that deeply bore me. But I must admit to you, my friend, that I've always admired how active and prolific the sexual health and life of other species can be. Did I mentioned to you I also majored in social anthropology and sexual mores of Council-space species in the University of Jaëto ?"
>You would remember something like that. "N-"
>"No matter, back to our subject at hand : I have studied how I could help you achieve sexual relief through various means, and one particular option grabbed my attention." overwhelming you with informations, your brain have little time to process them. You feel burgeoning inside your mind erotic ideas and fantasies.
>"Think of me as a "friend-with-benefits", yes ?" the salarian girl finally says, her small mouth curled up in a mischievous smile.

>Once she finally stops, you take a deep breath and rub your temple vigourously again. You look at her straight in her wide and soft eyes. You are rather confused and taken aback by her sudden impulse and you're thinking about a tactful way of declining her curious offer.
>"I'd also say that there is a certain scientific interest in practising interspecie relation with a human on my part." she says, egging you on as if shes reading your mind. "Even if I will not take any sexual pleasure in engaging in this kind of activity, it will at least sate my curiosity about... Human physiology."
>You try to to protest, to find a way to turn her down, but the sparkles of genuine excitation in her dark eyes make you hesitate.
>Overwhelmed, and with your train of thoughts troubled by strange new fantasies, you form a tentative "You want to do it now ?" riddled with doubts.
>"Perfect !" she retords, beaming with excitation, before jolting out of her chair and closing the distance to yours in three long strides.

>She towers your sitting form and put her long hands delicatly on your carefully on your shoulders.
>You cross her gaze and she blinks slowly, inhalling and exhalling sharply, her sudden enthousiasm shadowed by a visible sense of apprehension.

So, Im coming to the end of ME1 again. Decided to go with a rough n' tough Shepard who has a heart of gold, but is quickly annoyed by assholes and shitheads. He tends to be nice, but he is usually very blunt about things or he gets pissy with people who fuck around with him.

He's hung up on the Council every time because he doesnt like getting chastised by those pricks, He killed the Rachni because he felt it was too dangerous to take the Queen on her word(especially because he doesnt know a lick of the Rachni Wars), but he saved Wrex by talking him down. He sacrificed Kaidan(still beats himself up about it), fugged Ash, and helped Tali out with the Geth Data. Encouraged Garrus to kill Dr Heart.

But should he save the Council?

>She looks at her literal handiwork with a beaming face. Seemingly caught in the "scientific" excitement of carefully masturbating you.
>She blinks and exhales sharply, her face regaining her dour composure as she approach it from your aroused member.
>Looking upward to gauge your reaction, she lay down her lips against your tip. A soft and moist pressure push against your sex as she repeat the primitive kissing motion upon your length.
>You feel something flat, warm and wet slides under you penis. Her flat tongue pushing firmly against it.
>It is an entrancing sight, even if you can't decide if the way she looks at you like an experimental bioweapon ready to explode with her big wide black eye is an transfixing or petrifying feeling.
>She finally opens her small mouth, hot hair blowing against your sensible skins, and takes the tip of your sex between her thin lips.
>A wet and lewd sound escape from the seal of her lips as she begins making soft suckling and licking motions inside her mouth.
>The tentatively slowness of her movement is driving you half-insane, half-frustrated. The way she looks at you makes you want to bury yourself inside her mouth, to try to force and ram your way down her throat. You repress your bucking instinct and grab ahold at the back of her head, your hand reaching absent-mindedly to her horn-like protuberance.
>She squints menacingly and blins for numerous time, but the salarian doesn't resist you when you slowly push her head downward. Understanding what you're trying to do, she shifts the hands that was slowly stroking you to grasp your thighs firmly.

>You try to stall, you try to slow down, but you are far too gone. With a mighty pull, you grab the salarian's horn and drives your aching sex down her throat.
>Through bucking hips and ungracious grunts and groans, you climax right here and there, holding her head thighly against your lower-abdomen.
>She still looks at you through her squinting black eyes, seemingly unbothered, and you can hear her instinctively swallow what your powerful orgasm is releasing in her mouth.
>She gives off a very surprised look all of the sudden, frowning angrily and closing her eyes in discomfort, and you let go of her for fear of suffocating the salarian.
>She cough and wheeze and look positively revolted. Bringing her hands to her lips, she nervously wipes them while making high-pitched squeaks of anguish.
>With your now softening sex still glistening in her saliva and trying to catch your breath, you try to reach to her. "A-are you alright ? Look, I-"
>She looks at you and blinks. "I don't think I ever tasted something so foul tasting !." she says in desperate surprise.

I have been thinking of colony markings and thinking of Turians with same colony markings and, realized there were quite a few, especially in quite high positions.

Nihlus, Sparatus, Victus all have the same marking and we are looking at a Spectre, a councilor and a fairly well-respected general. Like I don't know where that fucking colony is but damn they have some clout.
>>
>>183544073
>You begins to panic ever so slightly, even if, in your state, there isn't much you can do but ridiculously flail around in your chair. "Ah, I'm sorry about that."
>She turns her head to you and grimace. "I don't understand how the female humans from the holos looked so content and happy when the male releases inside their mouth ! Is it something about salarian biology that makes it tastes so... Gah !"
>You briefly wonder if it would be smart to mention that most of those girls are paid to act as if they liked it. But refrain from doing so.
>As she's comically using her long fingers to wash her tongue, you look at her and smile softly. "Thank you for that." you boorishly say to her. "It felt really good."
>She turns her head and blinks slowly, giving you a warm -if a bit slimy- smile. "Happy to be of service, yes ? I propose to you that if you ever feel the need to sate some sexual urges to better concentrate on our work here, that you ask me to help you in that enterprise, yes ?"
>She stands up and crane her neck from left to right and from right to left.
>Catching her eyes, you give her a weak thumbs-up.
>She let out a quick and content laugh, and disappear deeper inside the laboratory, aiming for the shower without a doubt.
>You are left alone in the observation bay, suddenly aware of the thousands of fishes that bubble stupidly outside.
>You are also painfully aware that you may have crossed a dangerous line in Human-Salarian scientific cooperation.
(Fin.)

I've sunk nearly 900 hours into it in the span of 4 months, so I'd say yes.

In essence it is an easier Dwarf Fortress with better visuals, and the micromanaging is extremely detailed. The best part for me is the replayability. No one colony will have the same story as another. Workshop mods are always there to fill in the gaps that the devs leave behind.

Leadership changes at BioWare point towards a possibility of Mass Effect returning to its roots, though nothing is definitive. It's also safe to assume that due to Andromeda's failure, and the lack of communication from Bioware in regards to DLC, that any possible DLC (i.e. Quarian ark) has been scrapped, so make of that what you will

Sup /meg/ I just beat Andromeda today for the first time.
I know I'm late to everything that has been discussed here but I wanted to take my time with this, I get the feeling it'll be the last big thing I'll see from this franchise thanks to the bad reception it got. It's a shame cuz... I liked it... I don't think this deserves so much hate, I mean, at least what's left of the devs is patching some fixes and everything.

Yeah the story is a rehash of the 1st game but I enjoyed the side missions and had a good time getting through the crew's storylines, Drack's is my favorite so far. I also liked how they added an epilogue and some post game content, it's not much but in the other games you had to wait for dlc to enjoy some of that. Also the movie night mission was cool too.

One thing I really hated here of course was the padding, the necessity of completing fetch quests and hoping from planet to planet while dealing with a bunch of repeated cut scenes for some missions was the worst. The game is so slow at times that I always made sure to bring food and drinks before starting it so I could find ways to pass the time while waiting for everything to load.

I still have to unlock all of Ryder's memories but I'll leave that for later, I had enough today. I heard from other people this story is the best one in the game, is that true? I wish I didn't have to find a bunch of collectibles for it.

The actual story elements of the Ryder memory quest are pretty good, though the fetch quest stuff gets tedious.

In terms of the game's quality, there's just so much basic quality of life shit that's not executed well at all that you touched upon, such as the cutscenes every time you arrive/leave a planet, and the ridiculous amount of tasks that don't really matter at all. In terms of story, the Remnant weren't made as interesting as the Protheans were in ME1, and the Archon wasn't a very compelling villain when compared to Saren.

At the end of the day, I think in its current state it's worth the $30, but it definitely wasn't worth full price in the state it was in at release. What pains me is that Andromeda had the potential to be a good game, but due to mediocre writing and Bioware stupidly delegating development of the game to one of their smaller studios, it just fell far short of the high bar the original trilogy set.

Yep, I can agree with that, although I wasn't a big fan of Saren in the 1st game either. Sometimes I wonder if a lot of things regarding the main story feel weak here because people have seen it before.

exactly. He would wrap up his assignment, and find her trying to stowaway on the Normandy, and he would take her to the nearest Alliance unit, who then sent her to face the warrants for her arrest, which led to her ending up in purgatory. He doesn't remember her between her just being a thug, and his death, but to Jack Shepard is a pivotal role in her years in Purgatory. There wouldn't be romance in the events of ME2, because the two of them have to patch things up and become friends, just after the collector mission things would heat up

>Preview of turian daughter fic. should be done sometime today. Will be 4 chapters and a spiritual successor to Eden

Following the sledgehammer strike on Palaven, the Reapers diverted hundreds of ships from the main force and scattered them into turian space in a concerted attempt to divide the Heirarchy’s defense of Palavan to protect the worlds that were supporting the defense.

At the beginning of the Reaper tactical shift, the turians were too proud to admit that the diversionary raids and conquests were weakening their position. They remained steadfast, but anyone living in reality could see they were wavering. Even as they started to crumble and the war situation grew desire by the day, the turians still sent men and material to the weaker client species, even to the other Council species. Still, they never asked for help, no matter how precarious their situation got. It was not until the events of Eden; seeing what a single turian could do with a little bit of help from an alien that turian high command swallowed their pride and spoke up, asking their allies to support the defense of their colony worlds.

One the first official meeting was made by General Kalanis, the Commander assigned to organize the defenses of the colonies. The General had expected nothing from his allies in the Alliance, who had their own problems on their own worlds. Who could blame him for feeling that way? The war was one where the life or death of your species was on the line. The General was a cold realist in the face of the Reaper war.
>>
>>183572645

Yet in the face of this reality, the Alliance had offered no excuses. Even exiled from Earth, they did not debate amongst each other. The human general was late to his meeting. He wasn’t nearly as presentable or groomed as General Kalanis was. Unshaven, and rumpled, General Gregori Rokossovsky of the 14th Army Group showed up at the meeting. He was late because he had to go buy the two bottles of Vodka – a dextro and a levo each - in each of his hands and asked but one question on behalf of his superiors:

“Well, where do you need us?”

The sacrifice of the 194th Light Infantry Division on Eden Prime and the subsequent destruction of a Reaper Dreadnought was an event the Alliance Military was about to forget easily. Blood and victory would be repaid with blood and victory. With the promise of fresh troops who but needed turian logistics to move the humans groundside brining probable jubilation to General Kalanis; with that the two men got drunk and for a short while they both tried to forget the horrors the war was inflicting on their respective races. Details on what happened next were sketchy, and rumours but apparently the two men went down to a Sushi bar on the Citadel Presidium and caused a ton of damage. But that was all just rumour and hearsay.

The turians were a hard race to read, they would never admit to anything voluntarily; but Michael liked to think that it was this moment that finally ended all the serious fear and suspicions between human and turian peoples. It only took the death of billions, the siege of the Palaven and the exile from Earth, but they now stood together: They were now siblings defiant in the face of a galactic extinction event.

All of this was important to him, because it was this series of events that allowed Michael and Aliani's destinies to cross paths.

>>
>>183575448
how about just making it a series of connected short stories in one story, each chapter a different adventure. It will give you time to establish your characters and build them up, and then when you have a main plot, you can write a major story then.
>>
>>183575448
Maybe they're stationed on some sort of patrol frigate near the fringes of Alliance space, and they run into pirates? Maybe they're just part of some human/turian unit that was created by their respective governments as a show of good faith, and the species initially dislike each other but then form a strong bond through training, much to the surprise of their superiors?

There's a lot you can do, anon. Remember that you don't have to have some grandiose overarching plot, and that you can focus on something small instead, or just go scene to scene.
>>
>>183574647
Just start anywhere anon, you can build off of it later on. I had the same issue, especially when my writing isn't even that good. But I've seen myself slowly improve to the point where I'll be able to go back and revise the shit parts.
Don't give up yet.

Both were born on Palaven, that's what matters.

Colony markings were just used as an excuse to make Turians look different with minimal effort because the other option would be doing actual work and make crests longer and shorter, mess with their mandibles, change face length, width and etc.

Garrus and Vetra don't have anything similar, and Saren has none. Those frauds never explained it deep because they are just using it to be lazy.

It even gets worse when you include the comic characters where Saren's brother has facial markings, Garrus' dad has different markings and his mom has none.
>>
>>183582693
Is that what matters? Where does it say that? They're permanent, so they'd have to be at a certain age, developmentally. And before you say they aren't, look at how the markings lay on Garrus' scarred face.

This is true. An actual shortcoming is their lack of clarity on the subject of markings.

I just assume turians from Palaven don't have any unless they're from a major city. Those major cities have their own. Saren, Garrus, and Vetra could've been raised in different areas of Palaven. Again, they never go over it, this is just my way of making sense of it.

Never read the comics, but does it say/tell where his brother was raised in relation to Saren? i know of multiple occasions where the comics had inaccuracies, as well. Where was Castis born, and where was his mother born and where was she shown? They could've easily been born in three separate areas. I know Castis shares the same markings with Avitus, but they're different colors.
>>

The problem with this topic is that they won't give any clarity because it is convenient of them to differentiate Turians the easy way they have now, otherwise they have to catalog the markings, give them colonies or cities in case of Palaven.

So, hoping an autist would catalog them. I found this

So, whatever. I don't care. Bioware is using some cool concept as an easy way to differentiate characters by not changing the models

It's okay if you do. I respect his world building. I just find a race which entire premise is if the mate dies I die silly; and to top it off, fanfiction writers doing watered down copies of his world building isn't doing him any favours.

Dug you I have a job. A shitty job with a schedule that's all over the place, where I make minimum wage, but a job none the less.

I'm going to take a risk and go to school next year. I can't live like this anymore desu I want to do something I love while making big bucks or die trying.

I like the FCW idea, I know its been done to death compared to other stories though. But honestly, you ought to go for whatever story you feel you can flesh out in the most interesting way, or that gives you the most freedom in regards to player response.

Keep up the good work!

Jee-sus C. For reference, Ayn Rand's Fountainhead is 311k. I'd have to be compensated some decent paper to churn out that much material. I feel like you can produce a nicely-rounded work in ten to twenty thousand. Good authors (plenty of sci-fi ones at least) can get you hooked and invested emotionally in far less.
