I don't like what I view to be uneducated preconceptions. Shadow Dragon is roughly the same game as New Mystery, but people fellate one while bashing the other, while probably playing neither; this does give me a bias against 12, I will admit.
I'm also biased against 12 for starting many of the decisions that I would dislike so much in awakening and Fates, the character writing being one of them.

The characters are simple, we agree. But that doesn't mean they should be distilled down into one bite-size piece that you get there bites of over the course of the game in the base conversations. I'd like to know more about their personality, their history, thoughts, feelings, relationships. But the MU centric ones are entirely lacking.

The non-Kris centric Base convos are good, and are exactly what I wanted out of Shadow dragon. They flesh out existing relationships, show people in a different light, and are generally far superior to the Kris ones.
A friend of mine, on the subject of levity in narrative, said that "everyone needs a beach episode sometime". And I agree, and it seems you do too. But the problems with the 12, 13, and 14 supports is that nearly every single one of them is the fucking metaphorical beach episode. They're just "fun", popcorn, nothing more. And that's boring. It gets old. There's nothing to chew on.

I don't have a problem with Shadow dragon for lacking supports and all - I have a problem with new mystery for adding half-assed ones. And that trend continued into the subsequent two games that I wanted to like, but did not overall.

You can see where the bitterness comes from. I still like New Mystery, it's just that there's so much added I dislike that it's annoying.

Echoes was the #1 best selling 3DS game in NA in June.

It's not incredible, considering the only other significant release was ever oasis, but it's a nice accomplishment, it beat out strong sellers with crazy legs like Pokemon.

I disagree, I think there are some decent Kris centered supports, like the Sirius or the Minerva, Michalis ones. I didn't find them to be bad or anything, what did you expect about them?

I think the whole mindset about "most of the supports are sillier now" is as much of a negative bias as "FE11 is bad and unreedemable", but that's just me. There's a lot of fairly interesting supports.

Here, I think most of the likeness comes from you liking the overall game, aesthetic, story, setting, etc. I noticed that when I played Fates, I cared about the characters more than I did for the Awakening ones, because I was having fun, I was enjoying seeing them building levels and stats (because they don't matter much when you just steamroll everything).

To each their own, but I think despite the big number of supports bringing a heavy influx of sillier ones, there's still a number of enjoyable conversations, heck, like Xander and Camilla's, for example. I liked that one. It's simple, but very cute as a sibling support. Mainly because I like those two. But yeah, you probably get what I'm going into, don't you?

My thoughts are hardly the absolute truth, as aren't yours, but that's just my point of view. All in all, deep down, I guess I'm just tired of the whole "anime trope" argument that gets tossed around freely. Like calling every character you dislike a "mary sue".

If it's really an ulcer get some rinitidine and pepto bismol. The latter may not do much but it's worth trying. The rinitidine is a very competent OTC acid blocker. Take both as directed. Another acid blocker is OTC priolosec. It's good but you can become dependent. Just follow the directions.

Another OTC is Gaviscon. It can be good at preventing reflux.

if nothing works and their no problems it's IBS and you're probably fucked. Modern medicine sucks balls at treating that one. Overhaul your diet (I had to remove random shit like vegetable oils, garlic, and "natural flavor"). You can try shit like peppermint oil. Or just cut the crap and take a pain reliever at night. Something I really dislike about the DS games is the way that they are balanced. It's often unavoidable to face a chance of getting fucked by a critical and it seems like the games are designed around resetting with the save points and all.
I also dislike the weapon rank bonuses, because they're different for different weapon types and overall very unintuitive (unlike traditional FE calculations that were simple and straightforward).
I also think that the weapon triangle doesn't fit with the DS games' maps.
Forging is dumb and very overpowered.
I don't like how reclassing takes away the uniqueness of units.

I think the new changes detract from some of the original level design.

I made it my summer goal to finish every FE game.
Problem is, I bought fates when it came out and decided to start with it. And I can't fucking take it. I seriously think this is the worst game I've ever played in recent memory.
I'm not one of those annoying anti-nuFE fags, I got back into the series with awakening and absolutely loved it at the time. However, birthright has been so painstaking to play in every single way. The gameplay is bad, the characters have no character, the plot... I don't even know how to express my disappointment with. Should I even try and finish it? Should I bother with conquest and revelations? Or should I just skip it altogether and go back to the old games?

If they were to remake an earlier game, which old mechanics/story elements would you want untouched and which ones would you want totally overhauled?

I'd like movement stars in Thracia to be revisited. Having a random chance for another action can be a blessing or a curse, but usually it's just a phenomenon. I go sit a unit down by a bridge to block it, oh they get an extra turn. Something like a 'move gauge' for characters with movement stars (with more stars meaning a shorter gauge) that lets you plan around building the gauge and then completing an action that fills it would feel like you have some control over it. Like each tile you move before completing an action builds the gauge and the type of action you perform builds it more (attacking the most, trading/rescuing/selling the least) so you can plan to send a unit to attack a distant foe to fill the meter, and then run back and attack one closer to your main group.

In FE11 there were awful gaiden chapters that you would only access in bizarre situations, so they didn't affect many people. On the other hand, FE12's awful gaiden chapters will detract from most players' enjoyment.

I'm not sure what you mean by "free" weapons but if you're talking about the random items you're given in the base camp I think that's a terrible idea. It's unpredictable and based on real time rather than something in-game so I think it just takes away from strategy and adds nothing.

Raffin, Kriess and Arkiss were all commando knights (and Raffin can promote again). They can use lances indoors and commando knights don't suffer stat penalties when dismounted aside from movement.
Zeek can use lances and axes while mounted (no swords) and can use lances when dismounted.
There are some infantry units that can use lances indoors including Lionel and Ezekiel (promoted).

The best build I've seen is, well, mine. It makes him unstoppable. But it requires +defense and either -spd or -res or even -atk
