If you think Capcom's death would save Guilty Gear you are an idiot. Tekken and anime games will never be as popular as Street Fighter, because none of them are remotely as accessible. Street Fighter is the only game where a new player can hop in, spend two hours practicing Ryu's DP, and then jump online and develop a feel for the game. No matter how many tutorials you add in games like Guilty Gear or Tekken, new players are going to face a much steeper technical barrier to be able to play at a minimal level.

ArcSys games aren't dead online because worse games attract more attention, they're dead because they do everything possible to scare off new players. ArcSys loads its characters with gimmicks and assets to play around with, which encourages player creativity and looks cool on paper, but also produces disgusting setplay and okizeme. Plenty of totally reasonable people don't want to play a game with Arakune, and nothing turns away new players like having to block for thirty seconds because they fucked up four seconds of neutral. And if you want a Tekken game to blow up, you're going to have to create something like Tekken with a manageable move list.

There is a reason most Guilty Gear "fans" don't actually play their game, and most Street Fighter fans actually do, and it's not just relative popularity. Street Fighter does a good job as a gateway fighting game, and the FGC would be much smaller without it.

No UNIEL apologist has ever put forward an argument explaining why GRD is fun, exciting, cool, etc. That's because it's not cool. It's totally arbitrary, has no aesthetic representation, and doesn't make the game any more exciting. All you will get from UNIEL apologists is:

alright, then focus on set ups, you can't dash after a powerbomb. You can check them if they don't have an invincible reverse with standing hk or lk eblow after a powerbomb, but you dont have the frames to dash.

I was in the Library today looking for copies of both Daigo's and Gootecks' books to try and get out of Silver in my favorite game SFV.

I need a controller. I picked up fighting games on PC so I've been playing on keyboard, but I've finally learned enough that my shoddy old keyboard can't keep up with inputs.

SNIFF THIS!

People disliking SF5 isn't just some meme fad that should just be dropped. It's a bad game.

SF5 is most fun at the Bronze-Silver level, where both player's offense isn't super solid. As soon as you get to Super Gold+, the entire game becomes 2 coin tosses into dizzy into dead.

It's is so stagnant in the metagame that I really can't tell the different between Super Golds and Masters if there was no HUD. Everyone doing the same combos, same set ups. No executional difference, and the elimination of reliable defensive options really boils every single character down into a vortex fest.

Very bad game. The worst thing about it is that a new player won't see this/understand this until they've invested many many hours into the game and then it's too late. Once you realize the game is trash your money and time are already gone.
