Displacement abilities are far and away the strongest cc in the game, yet most champs that have them tend to have kits that are strong independent of said displacement. Redpilled Azir mains know the dash/shurima shuffle is useless post-laning phase and late game it's much better to use it for peeling/shutting down enemy dives while DPS'ing. But most bronzies only care about ebin plays that usually cost them their life.
Anyways Azir will legitmately be bad though without an offensive/long ranged ult unless they seriously overtune his soldier/Q damage, because the shuffle is usually his only source of kill in laning phase.

You don't really need alternate maps anymore than you need alternate soccer pitches that aren't rectangles. The variety in LoL comes from different champion matchups, team comps and game states.
