Neighborly reminder that Dragonball FighterZ will be a poorly crafted fighter with abysmal space control, awful movement when compared to the Marvel series, lack of assist variety, and no appreciable character archetype diversity. Just because it's not Capcom doesn't mean it won't be bad. If you have to constantly compare yourself to current Capcom to make a game sound good, then it's a shit game.

If you think Capcom's death would save Guilty Gear you are an idiot. Tekken and anime games will never be as popular as Street Fighter are, because none of them are remotely as accessible. Street Fighter is the only game where a new player can hop in, spend two hours practicing DP commands with Ryu, and then jump online and develop a feel for the game. No matter how many tutorials you add in games like Guilty Gear or Tekken, new players are going to face a much steeper technical barrier to be able to play at a minimal level.

ArcSys games aren't dead online because worse games attract more attention, they're dead because they do everything possible from a design standpoint to scare away new players. ArcSys loads its characters with gimmicks and assets to play around with, which encourages player creativity and looks cool on paper, but also produces disgusting setplay and okizeme. A lot of totally reasonable people don't want to hop into a game with Arakune, and nothing turns a new player away like being locked down and made to block stuff for thirty seconds because they suck at the five second burst of neutral. And if you want a Tekken game to blow up, you're going to have to create something like Tekken with a manageable move list.

There is a reason most Guilty Gear "fans" don't actually play their game, and most Street Fighter fans actually do, and it's not just relative popularity. Street Fighter does a good job as a gateway fighting game, and the FGC would be much smaller without it.

No UNIEL apologist has ever put forward an argument explaining why GRD is fun, exciting, cool, etc. That's because it's not cool. It's totally arbitrary, has no aesthetic representation, and doesn't make the game any more exciting. All you will get from UNIEL apologists is:

I completely agree, but system mechanics should be designed around the game, not the other way around. Unless you find system mechanics more fun than characters and action, which is totally fine, but you might be neuro-a-typical.

During EVO SFV Top 8 I mentioned it was going on in a Discord server for another fighting game.

There was this dude who was like: "Anon, no, not SFV, you could be doing literally anything else. Don't do this to yourself". Shit like that, and he just kept saying it. He'd been like that in the past when I would mention interest in SFV.

I wanted to see how much time he had put into SFV and checked his Steam profile. To my surprise I found... nothing. As a precaution I asked him if he played any fighters on console, which he said he didn't.

Once I called him out for his terrible attitude he said something about a promised port that never happened, which was not a good enough reason for the amount of shit he talked about the game. Dude literally hates SFV because it's the cool thing to do.

I wonder how many other people who hate on SFV are like him. Not saying the game doesn't have problems, but that top 8 was just about the best thing I'd watched from any fighting game event and people like him were too eager to shit on it.

So... someone on reddit noticed that the Abigail in the trailer was bigger and uglier than the one that we will get.

Basically what happened was, in the build used to make the trailer and the character introduction, Abigail's muscles were inflated. In the version we will play, his muscles inflate when he uses his V-Trigger, and then they deflate.
