N'zoth's first mate is a really good card, I admit it, (though less so now because of the crab, which did hit me in one game) and taskmaster is good as well, but you really want something you can actually play on 2 in arena. With no proactive 2 drops and only two 3 drops, you can imagine how common armoring up on 2 and even on 3 was. It's really easy to get run over at that point and immediately lose the game.

What's a better class for grinding?

I don't think the chip damage is an issue when I'm the aggressor but rather a big dude they have to deal with. The game is 90% determined by turn 5 anyway, if I've lost my board - highmanes are too slow to matter. I mostly wonder what kind of crabs to include for the rank 3-1 meta.

I personally prefer tigers or secret face hunter just because mage can abuse the shit out of hydras amd they're only big in slower matchups anyway, but to each their own

Now that Queat Rogue is gone, the best decks to grind to legend with are Token Shaman, Murloc Pally, Secret Mage, and Aggro Druid due to their low game time like hunter

I think lile Deathstalker Rexxar is gonna be strong enough for an auto-include in current hunter decks if they dont change too much. Currently Steady Shot is garbage and useless, so losing it means nothing

Hunters game play revolves entirely around playing fast, getting value trades and controlling the board with ultra value minions constantly, so giving them an expensive consecration with ironhide attached is actually pretty decent so they have some form of comeback if lagging behind and a good counter tool to aggro.

And then buildabeast is just exactly what hunter wants. 2 MANA + mana cost of the zombeast for "Draw and play an insane value beast every turn for the rest of the game"

No, hunter wants to kill the opponent which playing this card makes difficult. There is no way you would play 6 mana 2dmg aoe in any Rexxar deck right now, and it's an outside chance going info the next xpac

Corrupted Seer legitimately is a mistake. Almost all 10+ decks i've had since the last arena change has been because I have had Seer in them. Playing well against a Rogue, Warrior, or Hunter and not expecting one sided AoE to btfo you out? Nope, seer.
