Season out yet?

I thought this general was ded
How did such a popular game die so insanely hard? You get in the top 800 players in season 10 with GR 40, literally only 800 players have a basic geared character. From a starting pool of 30 million purchases

It was, that's why I made one.

For a Blizz game it's dead, but it's likely still the most popular ARPG by a decent margin.
I personally jumped ship after release because of how bullshit Inferno was and the auction house, but they've fixed pretty much all the things I hated about it at the beginning.
Plus the Necro just released and that's what I played in D2.

kek, have a bump so your thread doesn't die.

Most popular by player counts, not the most popular with people on /v/.
Most people who play D3 are filthy casuals, even by /v/ standards. Since unless you're playing at the high end/leader board chasing you can actually just faceroll on the keyboard and be successful.
The game doesn't start requiring any sort of grinding or challenge until 70 and/or torment 13.
I came back for the first time since season 3 when I played a zdps Wd/monk doing 3 man 60+'s. Got a necro to max and got all the sets. Within around 8 hours I was soloing 65. Nothing is going to change after that. Upgrade a piece of gear for a few hundred stats higher, go up a few gr levels. I was hoping for at least a week's playtime before I burned out, but fuck it.

Shoulda waited for the season start.
At least then leveling/gearing takes a bit longer because you start with no paragon/gems/bank/crafters.
should i get necro dlc and start playing again?

Same shit anon. They even give you a set at the start of seasonal now. You can be doing gr 50+ on the first day realistically.

Depends.
Like the other dude was complaining about - if you just super rage-face grind the game and/or know how to do so extremely efficiently you can run out of stuff to do but "pushing" - going for higher Greater Rift numbers - in a relatively short time.
If you don't mind that core gameplay loop and are looking for an interesting new class, then the necro stuff is worth it. The necro for for sure has multiple viablo playstyles.
You can run a skeleton pet build, a revive minion build, a bone armor/corpse lance build, a blood mage skeleton build, or a blood mage "assassin" type build for the most part.
Even the "bad" build that focuses around bone spear is still viable up to the max non-rift difficulty level.
