pantheon is an extremely linear champion with 0 escapability and disengage and 0 ways to outplay your opponent

early game he's a huge problem and i believe that riot should add something to make pantheon actually take skill because his early game is just braindeath for both laners..
but it's balanced by his total horseshit lategame

he is horrible against grouped enemies because most competent players can just keep their distance, walk out of your ultimate or interrupt your E, not to mention that your passive is pretty much useless against 5 players

also pantheon NEEDS to build full damage to be relevant later in the game, have you ever tried playing tank pantheon lategame? his damage is laughable, his combo barely does 20% of a squishy's health

Which champion exactly?

Anyway top is a very different beast compared to mid and ADC, you can't always get 10 CS/min by being passive as fuck, because if the enemy has priority and you have no idea how to manage the wave then he will zone you and you ain't touching those creeps anytime soon.

Top lane requires the most champion/match-up knowledge out of any role, if you're just starting out I recommend you play one, and only one champion and learn everything there is to learn, including but not limited to: which match-ups he wins or loses, at which levels you'll win trades, at which level does you outscale or get outscaled, and wave management in general (this is more important for top lane than any other role). Anyway unless it's tank vs tank, you'll never get a chill farm lane like you would in mid or bot, you'll have to engage in trades constantly if you want rights to touch that wave.
