Because the fact that it's not that simple is what makes fighting games fighting games.

We've seen what one-touch specials do in Rising Thunder and SFIV3D and both of those were failed experiments. Smash only gets away with it because it's a fundamentally different game and SRK motions and the like aren't particularly consistent in a game that controls like a platformer.

Motions get easier and easier but still exist to create some barrier of entry. If there's no chance you might fuck up and input and drop your combo, no matter how small that chance is, it relieves a massive amount of tension that is omnipresent in the game. You don't have to worry about which side of the screen you're on or anything. It's just fire and forget and it's bland and boring.

Casual shitheads need to stop making excuses and acting like commands are the reason fighting games lack mainstream appeal. The simple fact of the matter is most people want their 50% forced winrate hugbox with four other people to blame their failures on and the idea that someone could be better just by putting the time in and practicing is laughable to them.

I honestly don't mind the otherwise stiff movement but I shouldn't have to spend hours in training mode just to learn how to move.

Not to mention it makes the game look awful to spectators because of how jerky the game models are. Eddy KBDing in the Top 8 was a fucking laff, but not in the good way.

I picked up Tekken 7 hoping that it'd be a little different but it's just the same bullshit. I love the whole "but you don't need it if you're a beginner though" defense. Everyone who plays fighting games is looking up at the top-players and top level of play for inspiration. The fact of the matter is that if you have any wants to get higher in the ranks you better be learning how to make your character spazz out on the floor.

Also smash joystick motions are a million times as hard as dragon punches. I'm not even talking about high level glitch stuff. Doing the most basic attacks in the game (tilts) require you to be extremely finnicky with the stick and are downright impossible to do consistently with some controllers. Some short hop fast fall stick motions are are not only way more complex than a shoryuken but also require insane timing.

People who say smash is a casual game are literal children who don't even understand basic mechanics or read the manual and just spam fully charged smash attacks, dash attacks, and specials with other children to get that forced 50% experience.

What fighting game has your favorite stages?

I always feel like stages are an underrated aspect in a fighting game. In the end they are just fluff and characters are what matter the most, but having a big stage selection gives a game more longevity to me.

Most special moves are really easy to do now. I'm talking about shit like where a more difficult kara-throw is always a better option than the normal throw. When what the game lists as a "throw" is the wrong thing to do as opposed to a more difficult (usually unintended) version then I start having issues.

A lot of the people mistake the need for high-execution barriers as the reason a game is good or bad. Hell there's a guy on /v/ that bitches that the lack one-frame links are the reason SFV sucks, and not all the other issues the game has.

This is not an issue with many modern fighting games. Shit like plinks and kara throws have been basically eliminated from the genre and acknowledged as the glitches they are. Even Guilty Gear, which is loaded with unintuitive tech, goes out of its way to TEACH THEM in the tutorial and trial system as quirks of the system and not full on, look-it-up-on-GameFAQs bullshit. I think that's a step in the right direction.

I agree with you on the whole, though. I do think that getting rid of these mechanics is better for the genre because it makes the game more consistent and keeps everything within the developer's intentions rather than having characters be overpowered because they best abuse a mechanic nobody on the dev team understood. I'm just not ready to accept that special motions need to go.
