The difference is Tekken is still fun in spite of that. There never was a strong zoning game, all the characters are same-ish by design (which there's nothing wrong with, when they are, and always have been designed to be same-ish) and essentially always have been with few exceptions, I don't give a flying fuck about features other than VS Mode (and don't for Street Fighter either), have no problems with input lag or latency. It's good for me. Play whatever the fuck you want.

You don't. Carl's been high tier since CS, when they actually fixed his kit. To give him a good nerf, revert 2D and 6C to their CPE version, and make Ada actions still have a cost in OD, but you actually can't make Carl a bad character without removing all of his tools he gained in CS, like Volante and faster Allegretto cancels, which would make him bottom tier.
The top tiers are pretty set in stone. Litchi, Azrael, Jin, Izayoi, Carl, Relius, and Izzy are pretty much always going to be good unless you destroy their kit now. Damage to Ada and Ada downtime are meaningless nerfs, because he WILL open you up before Ada dies, and if Ada is close to dying in neutral the Carl fucked up massively to begin with, it just affects how good the setplay of the next hit will be.
