1. I invaded Egypt after the crisis event.
2. I called Prussia in.
3. Prussia became war leader.
4. I occupied Cairo
5. Prussia enforced "Make Puppet" CB and I get those borders.
6. A year later I get "Egyptian surrender and annex them and it's fixed.

This isn't to start shit, as it all fixed itself anyway, I just want to know what could have caused it. As you can see from pic attached it wasn't to do with occupation as I got parts of Jordan I didn't occupy and lost parts of Syria I did occupy.

Trade & colonization are both strengths, and feed back into supporting each other...if you help keep england stable & keep/expand their french lands, they can certainly help you eat Iberia. If you do well you should end up owning Genoa node & feeding all of americas and spice islands into it, unlimited money, unlimited mercs....then it's a question of balancing your overextension.

I've been batch-replacing British pops with their colonial equivalents, but I'm not sure if I should do the same with the Irish or leave them be. All cultures involved are accepted so that doesn't matter too much.

Since Ireland has -60% base RGO size, the -15% from destitution is a bit over a third of the cap for most provinces, so there was a lot of room for Brits to move in.

You could go for the harshest possible potato famine if you wanted, I guess, though that prevents you accepting the Irish for a long while and non-craftsmen Brits are going to refuse to move there until you accept the Irish and get rid of destitution.

I'm running a last test and holding back on feature creep a bit. The last change will be to the "Christian Oppression" modifier that, in the past, pissed off literally everyone but the turks. The modifier doesn't piss off anyoen anymore and now it will be a decision (though it's a event just for show) that the AI takes every year that pisses non-sunni pops in the OT.
This will hopefully make pops there proner to declaring independence, not trying to change the government, though that will that will probably not be the case so in the future I will have to make it so religious minorities in the OT would rather have self rule than joining ideological rebels.

I fucked up. France was at war with Canada and I thought it would be easy to declare war on them to unify Italy. It went well until Russia and Japan declared war on Germany and now Willy III is getting rekt.

Anyway, there's a kind of stopgap for the problem of huge RGO sizes in inhospitable places in the new world now, but while I was doing it I noticed how many exceptions that I need to make when treating terrain as "biomes", so the first thing I'm doing now (and that will come in the next update) is re-doing the terrain system to separate terrain and climate.
Terrain will be separated by rough topographic characteristics and vegetation cover, with only a few biomes in (Tundra, Jungle). The effects would be halved with the other effects being dictated by climate (which would use an adapted and simplified Koppen system). This way it would be possible to accommodate more diverse ranges of rules without needing a terrain type.
For example, the Sahara would be Desert terrain with Hot Desertic climate. With -3 for infrastructure for terrain and -3 climate, building railways there would be impossible. But the Great Basin Desert, for example, would be Shrublands with Hot Desertic climate. This means that building railroads there would be possible, but harder than on more hospitable conditions. This way I can eliminate certain terrain/biome types (Like Alpine Tundra, which could be represented through Mountains (no cover) plus Subarctic Climate) and still represent what is needed. I can also attach migration modifiers to terrain and climate separately, so pops wouldn't decide where to move based SOLELY on terrain.

But back to the test game, the way it's done now seems to work better. While muslim Bosniaks don't care about what's happening to the non-muslims, the christians are getting pissed.
So "christian oppression" is actually affecting christians (though it also affects the shiite and animists, but I'm unsure how to deal with them, if I should at all, in this event).

That leaves us with 17 terrain types down from the current 21 (and more now, considering I had to make a few new ones for the new world).

I still need to adapt Koppen's climate system but this allows for "desert mountains" like the Sahara by combining the default "mountains" terrain with a desertic climate, for example, and Boreal Forests by combining forests with subarctic climate. It also allow for modifiers that affect factories, with factories in wet climates needing more maintenance, for example, even if not specifically linked to a terrain type (like tropical mountains).
I do want to test effects on performance, though I think it will help quite a bit. Right now pops decide individually but basically on the same thing (they all hate deserts) when moving. If the modifiers to migration are bound to terrain/climate combinations, it allows for more complex behavior and can pottentially reduce CPU needs.

Anyway, I still need to test it.

Am I the only one who finds it funny that in Kaiserreich, the HOI4 version of the ottomans is harder than the Darkest Hour version? In darkest hour, you can just push the arabs into the sea when the game starts and avoid the arab bullshit ever happening, whereas with HOI4 by the time you're capable of invading the arabs the Axis already exists.
