No, the difference is GG stuffs all it's mechanics universally, and thus can make characters that fill completely different roles by only having 2-3 defining traits because of how differently they can all use the universal mechanics. This means you can play against other characters if you have proper knowledge of the game and some character knowledge

BB stuffs all it's mechanics straight into the characters. Meaning yeah characters are DRASTICALLY different, and feel pretty unique, but it also leads to you playing a completely different game between some characters, and also means you need in depth character match up knowledge to play against them

Yes and no. There is beauty in simplicity. GG's characters having a few well defined, simple traits means that you can be more creative with that simplicity since they're probably more flexible. It also means it's more penetrable and means there is a larger playerbase. And really the whole point of FGs is to play others and have fun.

BB crushing characters under the weight of their own mechanical complexity means too many things that are specific, and not enough situations you can use them in, otherwise they verge on broken, like arakune.

The fine line between too simple, and too complex is hard to walk, man. Urien in SFV is a great example. That game is overly simple, but a simple mechanic like aegis reflector, that is well defined and flexible makes him a very fun and engaging character to play in an otherwise too simple game.

Blazblue is historically a bad series, with intentionally wack balance where they make the top tiers bad and the bottom tiers godlike as well as introducing overpowered new waifu characters in every game before nerfing them.

Combine this with the series constantly reinventing its system mechanics in order to try and find some kind of niche seperate from guilty gear (despite being made as the New Guilty Gear ala new coke because they lost the lisence for a while) and you're left with a series where every single "sequel" requires you to completely learn your character, your matchups and large parts of the game itself

It's always been garbage, and now that its finally dead because of story mode being resolved we are all better for it.

Cancerous means you can just pick the character and meme people out who were outplaying you the whole match, and/or meme at them right from the start and prevent them from doing anything. The 5 I mentioned fit both categories making them extra cancerous.

When I heard about Melty Blood and the moon system, I thought it was going to be about vampires, werewolves, and other creatures of the night, which would be super cool. 3 variations of each character: a human form for crescent, a half-monster form for half-moon, and full monster form for full moon. I was sorely disappointed when I realized that this game was just stupid anime lolis and that the different moons were simply boring technical minutiae.
