The Tartarus is going to be a nightmare for him if he's only using default jobs/races. The 8k damage self destructs will wreck your shit if you don't have endure or a self-revive.
I don't think beating Paradox Black Alice or Chaos Sonya would be possible with default jobs either. You could probably manage Leviathan, and Orochi if you held off until you got the queens though.

You can't mitigate a difference in base stats with gear and buffs because the better characters still have access to those same gear and buffs. If you gave the better characters that same gear then the gap would be even wider than it was before, as stat differences have more impact the more buffs you pile on.

And the equipment argument is even more stupid because that is what Golden Alchemist does. If you have an Excalibur already then using Create: Excalibur isn't going to do anything but waste a turn.
