I really feel the main challenge for a banned player is to LET GO. They get hung up on thinking their ban was unfair, they want to appeal it instantly. They don't stop and think. It would do anyone that gets permabanned a lot of good to read the ban reason carefully a few times and then close the thread, forum, discord or whatever else they use for this game. I know when I got banned I was annoyed, I went to the thread and discord and it was just shitposting calling me shit and being happy I was gone. I posted in the thread and that was a mistake. It took a few days for me to realise that the best way to get unbanned and reform is to take time away from the game and community. Appeal in a minimum of 3 months, don't be angry, don't give the admins any reason to hate you. Be honest and quick to the point, you fucked up but you've thought things over a lot and you really think you've improved and would like a second chance.

People quickly forget unless you keep bringing yourself up, let the thread forget you, let the admins have a chance to think again about you. Don't be angry, don't take rash actions, don't engage with thread/discord shitposting.

If you're given a second chance, actually be a better player, don't become the dawhatthefox example of never forming and always going back to your shittery ways no matter how many chances are given.

2017 has had some real nice releases. I'm a HAIM fan so their new album was a nice listen. New Royal Blood was dad-rock tier and too cleanly produced but it's still a decent listen, they're very fun live. I'm hoping the new QotSA isn't like that one single they have out and I hope Arcade Fire's album fits together nicely because I'm iffy on the singles. Tonnes of stuff stuck in my backlog still from this year unfortunately. Medical doctor, while I complain about the department and the players and the job a whole hell of a lot, it's honestly the most fun I have playing spess, past autism fort building as an assistant even. I live for those once in a week rounds where everything goes to shit at just the right amounts, where the chaos is balanced so that it's not overwhelming and drenching you and everything you love in shit, but it gives you something to do, something to beat. Those perfect rounds are what make medbay my favorite job.
As for antags, I don't play antag past wizzle/bleb/ayylmao, but my favorite antagonist to fight against while playing Medbay would definitely be Xenos, they give me an excuse to spend half my time in surgery doing Ayybortions, and there's nothing cooler than taking three bayybies out of three different people in one sitting. Okay, so here is the plan for the Dorf gamemode.

You all spawn on the station, there is an announcement that in 15 to 20 minutes a shitton of meteors will destroy the station. To evacuate with as much stuff as possible, loads of logistics is needed. Else you won't have necessary stuff.

The crew needs to rush to safety on the mining station, where they must mine, fight and maintain their station to survive. Kind of like Dwarf Fortress. The crew will get objectives, different types of mobs will also try to destroy the space fortress.

that's the only way an event like dorf mode can work. If you aren't regularly pushing a challenge in front of the crew, everyone will get bored because it's essentially a worse extended that only a few dedicated autists truly enjoy for more than 30 minutes. The best way would be to periodically spawn bad mobs or draw from a bored player pool to send waves of enemies at the mining station with increasing difficulty. Ideally mobs to start out with then send actual players with increasingly better gear to try and destroy the fort. Start out with some shitty mobs with spears and space proof equipment, then work up to mobs with shit like energy swords and guns. Maybe a mech thrown in every once in a while.

Dorf mode could be genuinely good and interesting, but the current idea of how to implement it is flawed. It never should have been JUST extended except you build everything, it should have genuinely tried to mimic dorf fort's defense aspect.

I hope you can accomplish this and make dorf fort a worthy game mode.

What is the range of a flash? I tried using it over a taser or stun baton once and i ended up running circles with some asshole. Do they need to be facing you? It just seems weird that flashes are always talked about as what you need when borgs are rogue but if the range and conditions are what they think they are its basically just a 50/50 whether you get hit by the stun baton before you can flash them

Melee range, it works on anyone not wearing eye protection, meaning it won't work with anyone wearing sunglasses, sec-glasses, welding goggles or helmet or engineering helmets.

You're better off with the stun baton against humanoids. Flashes are good against robots because they don't have any defense against them.

they're melee weapons, you click somebody with it when they don't have eye protection and they go sideways. If you're clicking it in hand you'll blind everybody 1(?) tile around you, but you won't stun them.

Also, most borg sprites are bigger than people so it's easier to stun them than it is for them to stun you, provided they don't have a taser or lube or some shit. Powergaming assholes take the small ass sprite with the little yellow cone head or whatever so it's harder to click them, and in that case you're at a disadvantage when it comes to melee, but otherwise you should win most times provided you can actually click the fuckers. Flashbangs are better but less reliable and can't stunlock for you to kill them, so you should use both.

honestly when's the last time you had a good enough roboticist to actually do anything with a borg in a fucked situation? I mean sure if you can take it to the robo do that, but I specifcally said that if you don't have the time, meaning a really fucked situation where something else is about to try and kill you, you throw it in a locker because that's the quickest way to deal with it, with the caveat that it's VERY dangerous. Even taking a rogue borg to the robo with it in the locker can end very badly too, you only have a few minutes before it breaks out and if you don't have flashbangs when the time comes to let it out in the robo's office it has a chance to fuck literally everything up.

There are very few reasons to take chances with a rogue borg at that point. Sure if you've got it locked down with backup and a shitload of flashbangs go for it. But chances are if you needed to lock it in a locker to get rid of it you don't have the time to fuck around with a robot that wants to kill you.

The pistol is really fucking robust. It's a better choice than a single mag because it can be swapped to faster than you can reload your gun and is handy if you lose your primary. It's a nice addition to a c20r+egun loadout. You can fit almost everything you want anyway, you shouldn't be strapped for space so much that deciding between the pistol and another mag is a hard choice.
