The current situation with pistols really annoys me.
As it is, there's really no reason to use a pistol over a pocket SMG. The SAT pistol in particular might as well not exist.

Their damage models mostly make sense, but some sort of usability buff would be nice. Like pistols being faster to swap to than other weapon types, so they work better in their intended role as backup weapons, or simply toning down their visual recoil and/or aim zoom amount, so you can actually track your target visually as you're firing instead of just having to guess.

So, even in the most ideal firing conditions, you will need to hit 3 center mass shots to kill, when you only have a maximum of 8 available, and this particular gun's visual recoil completely blocks your point of aim with every trigger pull.

It's usable, since it will still kill people, but it is undoubtedly the weakest in the category of "high damage" pistols by far.

DMRs are not literally unusable or anything, since they still shoot bullets that kill people, but rate of fire is still the better stat to have in the vast majority of situations, so anyone who's playing seriously would rather use the automatic option.

How about basic balance? If an operator has 2 weapons but one is objectively better in every scenario, then it makes the other gun entirely useless. Just look at Ash and her R4C.

And all of the operators that have access to machine pistols already have good guns and gadgets, with the exception of Echo. This does ring true. Have run across a lot of people in soloqueue who refuse to play anything above 1armor, and absolutely do not understand the meaning of patience and timing, but are still at a considerably good rank.

It's like they've acquired just enough gamesense to know when and how to spawnpeek or otherwise roam very aggressively, and then completely stopped developing as players beyond that point.

There are two main schools of thought here.

Either you use toggle with higher normal sensitivity but lower ADS sensitivity, so you have essentially two modes: mobile and accurate. This is good if you're the sort of player who tends to patiently sit on the same exact angle most of the game, and who, in general, plays a very specific role in any given game. Provides a very chill experience in those situations, but can be clunky if you need to do chaotic running and gunning.

Or you use hold with the exact same/very similar normal and ADS sensitivities, and play in a more "fluid" way, where you only ADS a few moments before you plan to start firing. This works better if you're the sort who needs to adapt to changing situations rapidly, and/or moves around a lot. It takes more getting used to, and it can be exhausting if you need to sit perfectly still and hold a specific angle, but in the end it's more flexible.

On attack, you have a pretty wide variety of viable options. The most well-known one is probably the GSG9 recruit with the shotgun, which is a loadout that is even occasionally used by pros, since it's a light armor with one of the best pumps in the game, and is great for rushing cramped areas.
Besides that, a recruit from any CTU, with a gun with good ironsights that still performs well without other attachments is also a viable option.

Defensively, recruits kinda suck, since they only get one wall reinforcement. The GSG9 recruit with the MP7 is the only really viable one, since he at least gets barb wire, nitro, and a gun that works great even without any attachments. All the others are pretty bad.

Normally yes, but a pistol is something that you should only ever pull out if you have no ammo in your primary, and you're about to be pushed at close range. Since all pistols are semi-auto anyway, you're generally better off using the low-capacity-high-damage option in this kind of situation, since you won't live long enough for capacity to matter if you miss your first few shots.

The high-capacity-low-damage option is only worth it if you're pro enough to consistently headshot with terrible pistol ironsights.

Does anyone else hate the people they play with? Of the 4 guys I play with, 3 of them blame literally every single one of their deaths on the netcode, and the other guy is cool but he's fucking terrible at FPS. To counter an ADS:
If you can get a safe angle on it, just shoot it.
If it's on the other side of a wall you have access to, and you can spare an EMP, EMP it.
If you have a Hibana charge that you don't need, just shoot it into the room, past the ADS.

If none of the previous options are viable, burn it out by throwing in fodder grenades, preferably in the form of smokes and/or flashes.

Basically, any place where you do not necessarily want to open too many sight lines (since they could be used against you) counts, such as most sites on Skyscraper or Yacht.

Super-high recoil, even with vert-grip. All the other auto-shotguns have high recoil, but it's manageable, including the only other autoshotty with a magazine, Caveira's SPAS-15. The other unique properties of the SASG-12 don't make up for this. The angled grip isn't useful because shotguns already have quick ADS speed, while the silencer reduces damage and is pointless on a such a short-ranged weapon, since if you don't kill them right away they'll still see the damage direction indicators from the few pellets that nick them, along with only being usable by noisy 3-armor characters. Generally people run the C8, but the recoil is very high on it, so they usually run the holo or red dot. The CAMRS is pretty decent as far as DMRs go, so it is an option. I personally just run the C8. If you want a FAL variant, get capitao. The Para-308 is a shorter version full fun FAL.

I've never seen that mentioned anywhere, and the system is supposed to only take into account the player's Ranks when calculating MMR gains or reductions (adjusted by your current "certainty value"). It's really weird how unique the Russian reflex sight is. It has barely any zoom-in at all, and it gives you way better peripheral vision than anything else. It's basically trading pixel precision for the ability to watch a much wider area while ADS, which absolutely no other sight does.
I wish it had an equivalent among the "western" sights. As it is, the red dot and reflex are basically just the same sight with a slightly different shape. It would be really useful to have a wide field-of-view sight like this on a viable defender.
