Well then that's the same seed but a different combination. If 1. shoots at Sectoid 1 no matter how many times you reload 1. is always going to miss.

Making 2. shoot at Sectoid1. first still keeps the same seed. x+y doesn't always equal z. 1 will not always miss if 2,3,4 and 5 take their actions first. But the seed is still the same you've just changed a few variables

I really see reapers being a no-brainer replacement for snipers. They won't have pistols, but they are extremely mobile with their sniper rifle always only taking one action to fire with no penalties, plus they can shoot twice.
Furthermore, with their stealth, you can probably start building rangers with pure combat perks and just ignore concealment stuff if you wanted to.

Reapers' Vektor rifles don't need snapshot, and they don't seem to have squadsight. They also do piss damage with their base weapon, 3-4, so no, Sharpshooters are innately more damaging than them unless they use explosives.

In addition, Reapers have terrible rifle damage, it's as bad as a base assault rifle. They're designed to be scouts that set mines, not extreme gun-damage dealers.

Squadsight is possibly something they could get as an Xcom ability, but the amount of ability points it takes to get an Xcom ability is more then their personal abilities. So prepare to do some heavy investment to get it. Remember that Xcom abilities are random for every soldier, think of them like how the AWC does things in Long War 2, you get a bunch of different things assigned and it's up to you if you want to take them.

So your Reaper could get conceal instead of Squadsight.

Reaper and Skirmisher split the Ranger's job of recon and mobile damage dealer. Sharpshooter takes out both low (Lost) and high (Chosen) priority targets. Psi op with an EXO suit handles heavy weapons (I usually replace grenadiers with Psi troopers when considering loadout). A Specialist who's taken both combat hacking and medical perks, a gunner-based Grenadier, and finally another ranger because they're simply the best class. The last two are optional if you're going for a 4-man only run.

Situationally they can and remain in stealth, once they get Remote Start and the ability to tag enemies with their claymore mine. Plus their detection radii is much, much lower than a ranger's, allowing them to do more of the clutch sneaking.

A Reaper calling shots for a Sharpshooter is going to be a pretty powerful combo, I think.

hat's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Bastard Sword" bullshit that's going on in the d20 system right now. Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.
I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 2,400,000 Yen (that's about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana.

Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.

Katanas are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.

Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:

(One-Handed Exotic Weapon)
1d12 Damage
19-20 x4 Crit
+2 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

(Two-Handed Exotic Weapon)
2d10 Damage
17-20 x4 Crit
+5 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

Now that seems a lot more representative of the cutting power of Katanas in real life, don't you think?

I remember seeing that they get an ability that increases their damage on a flank, just like Hunter's Instincts, so that will be nice. But yeah they don't seem to deal the best damage on their own, they are just meant to be a trapper class that can deal out small but effective damage with their rifle, setting up explosives which can put them back in stealth, as well as using Remote Start to fuck over enemies that walk too close to any explosive i.e cars, all while not revealing themselves, which is honestly pretty broken since the enemy AI doesn't react well to not being able to target a concealed soldier. Basically if you force a fatigued soldier out to fight, they have a chance to pick up a negative quirk, the example they gave was "compulsive reloader", where a soldier might refuse your order to move or shoot, and instead reload their gun. Which costs an action as normal.

The whole point is that it is to stop you using fatigued soldiers because on top of their low will scores, they might develop these negative quirks.

There is supposed to be a way to remove them, but it will apparently be quite costly.

Vanilla? Best way is to hope for a supply raid in the early game, or some kind of PoI that will give you Elerium. Then it's a matter of Sectoid Autopsy, so got to rush the first Autopsy. After that, once you start the research, you hope you get the option to half the research time in the Black Market and then finally build the Psi Lab. It's almost never good rushing for it though. Better saved for mid game when you have the resources to spare. Maybe WotC will change that with the breakthroughs.

I don't know how they got it this wrong. All of LW1 was just about hard choices. You had three missions to take when they popped, all offered good rewards, you had your UFO chances to shoot down, but it could bite you in the ass if you invest heavily in shooting one down. Going on a mission against a landed was also doable, though hard, but that was the reward if you took it.

Nothing about the missions in 2 are really worth doing, it all feels like filler and progression is just a slog, you will have research done, but just sitting on supplies because the game refuses to give you them. At least with 1 it was usually a matter of materials instead. It's sad that they couldn't give us the game defining mod once again, but I guess when you have other people actually able to make things it doesn't matter as much and WotC seems like it's going to be way more fun and dynamic.

I don't know if this screen has been posted yet, but a few things here:
-I guess the icons being procedurally is true, the templars icon is some cthulu looking thing up there.
-Upper right portrait is usually the faction leader/hero unit portrait. Thinking its the hero unit portrait here?
-Looks like its a mission similar to the narrative one: send two soldiers, meet with the hero unit, fight your way to an extraction.

Yes, they have a sidearm of some kind, we have known about that for quite some time. It is there for when they are unable to get into Melee range.

Also, you need to shoot Lost in order to get free actions, so it was given to them for that. Otherwise they would be missing out on that mechanic.
