Playing on a 6600k, school is horrible and it's 8-14 fps, Kamoshida's palace is a hit or miss, sometimes almost 30fps, sometimes slows down to 15-ish
It's entirely playable, newest release fixed crashes on non-ambush fights and you can beat the game.
Battles never go lower than 20fps, usually 25+
