DE was great but in defense of the newer expansions, while there was a wide top tier in DE the difference between tiers was massive. The tier 1 decks were so much better than the tier 2 decks, and the card pool was small enough that tier 3 and below were completely unplayable.

Neutral Blood is mega-cancer unlike any ever seen before it but the deck variety on the tier below is really good, and might get better once decks don't have to account for Neutral Blood in every list.

It took 3-4 days for Neutral Blood to start hitting the public after release when most lists are developed before the patch is even out. It's easy to say it's obvious in hindsight, but I'm sure the testing staff was focused on balancing interactions and the expectant lists.

Vengeance was more like a combo mechanic. With control pre-TotG you would dip down into vengeance to activate some effects, then pop back out with some healing. It actually was a "thinking" deck because you didn't just spam overstatted shit on curve.

Belphegor and powerful cards like Airship enabled the entire concept of Vengeance to be turned into set it and forget it. You put yourself at 10 health at turn 4, then you played the rest of the game with perma-vengeance. It significantly reduced the skill-level involved with the mechanic. Having 10 health isn't a significant disadvantage like people pretend it was. You had all kinds of cards to protect you like spiderweb imps and mask, plus diabolic drain, and the vast majority of decks in the game couldn't even threaten you. Sometimes you got fucked by bad-draws or Airship RNG, but that doesn't mean skill was somehow involved there.

Sibyl has on-curve stats which is a big part of why she's considered broken and mandatory in nearly every dragon deck, you don't absolutely need to abstain from playing her and ignore the board so you can get a ramp when you're already at 7pp. Assuming he ramped thrice beforehand he'd already be in overflow, so her heal would be active which would legitimize it regardless

Carabosse is pretty shitty, a 6pp magic missile that does a worse job than phantom cat, at the cost of your PP expansion. In a meta where you're expected to be doing large bursts of damage at that point in the game, 1 damage is pretty garbage. It might be useful if the meta somehow slows down significantly to get actual value out of it, but I really doubt it.
