Discord combined with /vg/ leads to several (or more than several) individuals treating it like a yahoo chatroom, most of whom have very little interest in the actual video game. The discord chat becomes an attention grabbing contest which quickly starts rewarding the lowest common denominator bait, and the /vg/ thread devolves into a dumping ground to shitpost or falseflag other members of the discord anonymously.

The stupid part of this is elyg isn't all bad, but the people in charge are deliberately obtuse about how their loot council works.
Using history as a guide, they will say that they're using a loot council - which means upgrades should go to where it will help the guild the most. This does not always mean it goes to the top dps nor does it mean it will always go to the person it will be the biggest upgrade for.

That's how "top guilds" do it, which is what they claim to be emulating. However it requires some effort and forethought which the leadership has proved they are not capable of.
"Loot council" in this context literally means "we decide who the loot goes to, based on various factors including attendance, performance, who will bitch the hardest, who was mean to me last, who kek'd at my meme in discord, etc". You cannot quantify how that sort of loot distribution method works other than judge it by the shitstorm that ensues, which if anyone has paid attention happens after almost every raid.

Loot council is not bad. It is however bad for this particular group of people.
There could be a way to mitigate their natural inclination towards unfiltered faggotry, perhaps planning on a rotating loot council. But this would also require guidelines and methods, which means effort, which equals probably no sale.

Typically on AoE pulls you'll just fade right after your first big heal. If you've healed a lot you get a feel for how threat works and you instinctively know when you fade. I guess alex is new to healing. Has he played a healer before?
