When they came up with the idea to do a Remastered MMO they were probably balls deep in NXT dev and didn't want to pull the plug on it.

Also I'm very wary of the tablet/mobile support. I don't see an MMO being fun or engaging if it's made with a touch screen control system in mind.

They seem pretty confident that it'll exist alongside RS3/OSRS but I'm pretty worried. I've had the same account for 12 years and if he gets designated to some decrepit RSC-like server I'll be pissed.

probably start out like mining or fishing, a gathering skill where you collect fragments from different ages.

3rd age ceramic fragment
3rd age stone fragment
3rd age metal fragment
2nd age...
you get the idea

then at around level 30-50 it starts incorporating into a production skill, assembling the fragments into "X age artifact". Could unlock a bit of lore. But most of the stuff you're assembling will be junk. You can trade them in to the Varrock museum for some bonus Arch xp or disassemble them for components


Also as you level up towards 99 the chance of finding "empowered" fragments increases which can be assembled to make rare/sought after artifacts.

These things could be:
Items that can be used as gizmos (with unique perks)
Sigils
Rare cosmetics (think Kethsi)
'Scrolls' that boost xp/luck/damage/healing/whatever for a given amount of time
New Ability Codex
