Getting through the city was hell, and we're probably not coming back until we're smart enough to start repairing power armor. But we made it to Goodneighbor, and our mission is accomplished. Piper, Cait and Maccready are coming back north with us to help build our nation, after we rest and take care of business here in town.

After arriving in Goodneighbor, we watched the mayor stab one of his own to death in front of our eyes, then made a round of introductions and met many interesting characters.

Among them were Maccready and Audrey, who we recruited from the Third Rail. We tossed them their gear and had them change as we rested the day away in the dingy ruin of the Hotel Rexford, our long mission complete. We actually hadn't planned on meeting Audrey but managed to cobble together a spare suit for her on Daisy's workbench out of what we took off the Mass Bay gunners.

Whitechapel Charlie got us a dirty job from the mayor himself, and seeing as it's right here in town we figure it's the least we can do after receiving such a warm welcome. Others, noticing our gear and numbers, have propositioned us to run missions into the city, but after the past few nights nobody's eager to head back into that war zone.

After we clear out these warehouses, we'll be heading back north to Concord, to continue building the nation. We dropped a lot of jet here and in Diamond City, trading it for shipments of oil, crystal, and whatever fiber optics we could find. Preston says that Bunker Hill has a trade post built up around it, and that we should stop by and announce the return of the Minutemen.

I've managed to get the game running, but for some reason, the character creator races added by Fallout Charater Overhaul don't have eyebrows and the facial hair is off. I'm trying to make a mod that removes the main quest (and all the shit side quests and WACKY LOCATIONS like Little Lamplight and most of Megaton) from Fallout 3. I'm attempting to DUST/FROST-ify Fallout 3's worldspace.

It had been going pretty well, but recently every time I launch the game with it enabled, it immediately crashes on the first "slide".

You start off as the kid in Vault 101, then once you do everything in DC, you make the trip over to Vegas and your story continues.
I did not get to do all of the 3 dlc's so it was pretty sweet being able to do everything in one playthrough. You can adjust the xp and what not to make sense when you get to the next wasteland.
If you want mods for the Fallout 3 portion though, you need ones specifically ported to TTW, but FNV mods work fine. Give it a try.

Dogtooth was working on a dual wielding mod last time I talked to him on Discord. I think he's in CC now, so that probably means it will be in CC. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, Bethesda has the tools to make it work properly without needing script extenders and dodgy workarounds.

The downside is, if enemies shoot up your generators powering your taming beacon / the taming beacon, all of your deathclaws will aggro you and your settlers, instead of just the raiders.

On Deathclaw island, I've got my beacon surrounded by concrete at the top of the building, with its own backup generator. Just in case.

That webm is 1 year and 3 months old (God the past year and a half have gone by at light speed) and deathclaw island has only been attacked three times.

One time Gunners attacked it. I fast traveled there. All the gunners were ded before the area even loaded.
One time Mirelurks attacked. Like three mirelurks came out on the beach. They were killed in seconds.
One time raiders attacked it while I was in Far Harbor. I just let the RNG roll and the deathclaws were victorious. I fast traveled there later and it was raining body parts.

fallout 4 is suffering

in NV i could create pretty much anyone and drive myself through on the pure enjoyment of interacting with the world using this unique character i've created. in fallout 4 my characters all feel the same and will eventually be funneled into the same family drama nonsense that kills any roleplaying immersion you have going, even if you use start me up for the alternate dialogue.

It was a workshop DLC with 1 quest. Hardly a story DLC. Not even a new land or anything.
Crafting shit is at the heart of Fo4 though, and spending your deskfans and duct tape on crazy robots is the most satisfying crafting experience.

Its "main quest" is even worse than Automatron's though, it's literally "explore the parks and kill everything", then they introduce a shitty reverse-minutemen settlement system wich managed to be worst than the one in the base game.
Also, there's literally 1 (one) faction: raiders. They come in three colors and that's it. Don't like 'em? Kill them all and leave NW abandoned forever.
It's most certainly not an "okay" DLC.

Hey guys, storyfag here. I wanted to let you guys know I still exist, and I finally figured out how I want to end the story, problem is there will be a lot of concrete work I have to do before I can progress the story. Theres background quests that need done that won't really make sense to put in the story, since the game makes you jump through hoops to do seemingly common sense stuff.

I'm able to get in and play but what did you change? Initially Megaton was there but had no texture. There was an invisible door that lets you IN Megaton where the town is intact.
When I left Megaton it wasn't there any longer but the invisible door is still there. The Robot greeter was there too but not when I first entered.

Weird. That's really weird. Thanks for the report, I don't know what happened. I havent been working on this too terribly long, so it might be best for me to start from the beginning. I actually more or less deleted most of Megaton and was planning to only have one or two shacks in the crater. I also fucked around with the main quest a lot, which is what I thought had caused the crashes (even though it obviously shouldn't have), but now I think it's something else altogether.

Thanks a lot though, I'll do a fresh install of Fallout 3 and see if that helps at all too.

The Deathclaw quarry with the new Power armor system for example. You can just blast yourself up and troll them to avoid getting hit. It kinda reminds me of the Twin Snakes conundrum. The Gamecube version of Metal Gear Solid sure looks better than the PS1 version, but first person aiming made that game SO much fucking easier.

That's a straight up lie, and complete misrepresentation of all the subjects you invoked. I say this as someone who has argued multiple times in /fog/ that the FO3 world map is better designed gamemap than NV. FO1 and 2 are empty as shit except for points of interest for the game storyline, and the rest of the admittedly massive map is instanced scenes (and in FO1 especially they are empty and lame as shit for the most part).

And about "deliberately chose a location", you know that FO1 and FO2 implied that the entire continent was essentially desert anyway so it wouldn't fucking matter? The whole arguement about the Mojave being "empty" (it's not, especially when you factor in foragables and creatures) is completely stupid anyway because it's based on a WIP project to re-invent an 8 year-old game. Remember all the shit in the Strip that had to be chopped up and taken out in FONV so console shits wouldn't melt? Yeah a game made during more limited times is going to have less frivolous filler in it's gameworld.

Obsidian has it's flaws, I think they did somewhat mismanage NV, and their focus on big character narratives and philosophy take up a lot of time they could spend optimizing shit.

Anyone here have War of the Commonwealth (increased spawns)? I'm wondering if you can disable or lower the amount of BOS Gunships that appear, they appear to replace regular vertibirds and have about 20 times the health pool of Ancient Behemoths, while also being able to one-shot everything in the game, while also attacking my settlements even though I am sided with the BOS. I don't mind them being tougher than vertibirds but I'd prefer to be able to take down at least 1/100 of their health before dying.

I really like this picture.
You can almost see the personalities of all the characters, imagine their story and place in the world.
The somewhat aloof but eternally dependable ranger captain with a disdain for the bureaucracy of the NCR.
His stern, by the book lieutenant who harbours a fatherly soft spot for him (and does all his paperwork).
The Gruff sergeant who's seen it all, but isn't bitter. He's found his family in the squad and he looks out for them, even cracks a smile once in a while.
The two, naive young privates, not yet beaten down by the war and still finding amusement in the little things. One relishing in living from the land, eternally curious and finding joy in the adventure of it all. The other totally out of her element and far from home, but instead of self pity she does everything she can to make her camp feel like home for everyone.

This fanart has better visual storytelling than all of FO4.

NPCs travel is good. One of the things it adds are roaming adventurers like the SS to the wastes and you can change if they trade with you and stuff. Pretty cool to see a fully geared out adventurer exterminating shit.

I'm trying to install specifically the Settlements version of "Shaikujin's Better warning for settlements being attacked" mod using NMM but when I did so, all it did was show it in the list of my mods without giving me the "options to choose from in the automated installer". I would install it on a save where you're in an interior space like home plate or something, then enable the mod and start with mama's boy preset, then go through every single option and raise a few settings individually.

Mams's Boy preset is what I roll with. Weekend Warrior is cool if you want a tad more. It adds small fixed size groups and at an acceptable spawn rate. Cool down is 24 in game hours to not over saturate shit.
I have Horizon and Arbitration, along with BLD, so combat for me is punishing and I do not want to be overwhelmed.

I use Mailamea's hair pack I got from LL, mixed in with some other hairs, with my own texture editing (mainly the normalmaps because almost every hair mod has that shitty plastic-wrap shine still in it). One of zzjay's earlier packs was alright, had a few good ones, but then they released a more recent hair package, even with the same hairs, and they were all ass with no EGMs or EGMs that wouldn't work with the vanilla head mesh. So yeah I can't really help you as far as a sure-thing good all-around.
